Status of your school/study/job

I'm working on the report for my internship, which has to be done within 2 hours. It's driving me absolutely crazy. I've worked on the topic for 8 months and I'm just done with it. But not with the report. :p

I did 2 exams, scored 8s, which is awesome. The grade list of my MSc is getting pretty nice.

In a few days I'm starting with my MSc thesis. Takes half a year. I also have to make some smaller essays, do a last exam and that's it.

Even though it's still fun, I'll be glad it's finally over and I can find a job. :)

So how bout you???

Re: Status of your school/study/job

I miss working and being around adults.

That being said, school is going great. Finished off 13 credits this summer, which means I only need to take 16 this fall. Been busy working on our project for next year, so I'm not exactly happy that classes are going to start to interfere in a few days. However, the classes should be good.

3 years to go and that stupid degree will be mine!

I had a comic book published earlier this month and if it sells out there will be a second issue I'll probably be drawing a portion of.

I'm currently working on my own comic to self publish.

I've been working the same nothing job for the past 2 and a half years, and I'm about to start a GED prep class.
To prep for GEDs.

Starting my 3rd year as an undergrad this Tuesday. Exciting.

Re: Status of your school/study/job

Have a few more weeks before starting my third year at college. I'll be done with my History major and the end of this year, and will complete a political science minor the following year.
This first quarter will be hectic. Apart from schoolwork and an internship, I'll be devoting a lot of time to a serious new club I founded and contributing to a book a former professor of mine is writing.

Re: Status of your school/study/job

So I got so fed up with the report I had to finish, that I went to bed instead. Now I'm working on it again. I wonder if I'll get in trouble for that.

Part of the problem is that my supervizors wanted me to write about things that I don't think make sense. Those are the worst chapters and need(ed) the most work.

I've been flailing around Madison for the past few days before classes start on Tuesday.

Re: Status of your school/study/job

I got accepted into a school after dropping out from another one. I'll be continuing where I left off, which is 4th year. So I've only got 3 years left until I graduate.

School starts next monday, and I'm pretty excited. It's been too long since I was in a class where I didn't know anybody. And this is even worse, because everybody already knows each other. And I don't know the rules of the hospital, the dress code and what they want from the students.

The only plus is that I've taken some of the lessons before.

You go to school at UW Madison? I live in Madison....

But anyways. I just finished up 3 straight 65+ hour weeks so that I could meet the deadline this Tuesday. I'm almost a year into this job, so I should be up for a bonus and a fat raise soon, not that I don't make enough money already.

Working long days in a studio, glad to not have to worry about school, though I do miss the excitement of going back. Aside from working on 2 completely different animated shows right now, I'll be working with some colleagues in our spare time on some kind of short film, which are always fun to goof around with, brainstorming ridiculous ideas..

You guys should swing by the High Noon Saloon on October 24th. I'll be stopping through there then.

Anyway, as for my schooling...I've still got 1.5 years to finish off my BA. I'm not in school as I'm doing Spinto Band stuff for the time being, but I'd love to finish someday whether it's at my current school in Bennington or somewhere else like University of Delaware. I'll figure it out, but I'd definitely like to graduate and get my degree.

And after a lovely weekend away from the city, I start the new season with a 15 hour day. :lolz:

Yeah, we're playing a show with a friend's band who are locals. Should be a good time. I really like Madison.

Presumably, you have a sub-conscience attraction to your job or you would have quit by now. :p

I'm in the intermediate stage between college graduate and first real job.
How old I feel. Especially after reading some of these posts.

Pretty soon, there'll be a "post pics of your kids" thread.

Might as well. Just started my programming coop at Propaganda Games and I'm so glad I'm back. I'm working in Core Tools which is a huge change of pace for me, but my degree actually has helped.

I'm so stoked for what the company is doing right now. It's a good place to be. I just hate that I have 5 courses left at school. :(

Do you live right in it or in a suburb?

I saw a guest watch this thread and I found out it's a good place to post.

I finished my MSc in November 2009. I've been looking for a job since then, but it's incredibly hard.
Last week I started a temporary job which has been fun so far. Farmers can get subsidized for natural elements on their land. I process those requests (with about 50 others). It's nice to work with something visual (maps) and nature-related.

Still working on my grad film.

Still working at Perot Systems, same as the last two years, except now it's Dell Perot Systems and soon to just be Dell Services.

My boss asked me a while back if I had an interest in being hired full time after I graduate, which I definitely do. :) I'm all set to graduate this coming May...so I'm pretty excited about that.

I graduated three years ago as an EE. Just now studying again to relearn everything so I can take the FE, the first exam and step of becoming a licensed professional engineer.

Currently looking for a new job. I'm ready for a change.

I also have a couple ideas that I'd like to start into a business. But, while I'm a good electronics engineer, computer programmer, and product designer, I have no business training and no idea how to get funding. I wouldn't even know where to start with getting a business registered with the gov't, and what type of business to choose. Anyone got any tips on that?

Right now I'm doing a whole lot of nothing except for taking care of my family. Ironic.

I'm waiting for Spring to start so people decide to start getting married again, so I can have something to bartend at again.
I've been thinking about doing music again a lot lately, so I'll probably spend a schwackload of time focusing on that in the coming months.

Whoa, blast from the past.

I'm back in Dev Support at Propaganda and working on the new Pirates game, but I'm functionally a QA programmer now because I do programming for a lot of the day. Also, my friend Cam, the guy with the most experience in QA (from being lead Audio QA at EA for Need for Speed for 3 years) has accepted a Jr. Audio Designer position on Tron and I got all of his duties. Awesome, but terrible.

I guess I'll just keep calling it Dev Support; yeah.

Try to find an "Executive Business" education program at one of the universities where you live. Our business school often offers courses and free lectures on the sorts of issues you raised for working professionals.

I am still in undergrad, working toward my BBA w/ Honors. I'm also in the Honors Fellows Program this semester, in which we teach freshman our senior year, which should be quite entertaining.

Working at a Fortune 500 company this summer as a financial intern. Hoping to save some extra money for law school.

Nothing grand from me yet. Just working at Wells Fargo in the Home Mortgage CS area. Kinda surprising I went from a temp in December 2008 (Rep1) to full time in May 2009 (Rep 1 > Rep 2 training same time) then promoted again in October of '09 to Rep 3 and thus getting time away from dealing with homeowners directly. Ever since that promotion, I love the hell out of my job now. Perfect balance between on and off phones for me and working tax/escrow cases. Now my supervisor is bringing up talks of bumping again to a Rep 4 soon.

Hoping by this fall I'll be ready to start working towards a Meteorology degree, something in the research field.

Re: Status of your school/study/job

Due to lack of funding for college I've been out for over 2 semesters now. Providing uh... Live in care... in virginia right now, which pays 1500 a month plus living expenses. Been doing this since December, and basically all is going well. I should have enough money to take the 9 classes I need to graduate.

However due to recent events someone offered to get me into a culinary school near here on scholarship (Actually no idea how it would work). It's a 2 year thing.

So basically I have until August to decide if I want to finish my degree in Computer science and join the code monkeys of the world, or go to culinary school.

I've always wanted to go to Culinary school btw, however I really don't want to be in Virginia anymore. :(

decisions decisions.

Oh hey and I'm still a part time server at cracker barrel on the weekends.

Still drawing the first issue of my first pro comic. Going ridiculously slow. Wish I given an actual deadline when I started. My boss is far too considerate...and I suck at keeping my own self-imposed deadlines. 10th anniversary of the series so hoping I get the entire miniseries out this year.

I have been with a medium sized insurance company for 2 years now. I handle claims over the phone, basically im the guy you talk to if you get into a minor car accident or have storm damage to your home or something like that. It could be worse but im starting to dislike it more and more as time wears on and ive begun looking for other jobs. Problem is where im at they act like theres plenty of room for advancement into other positions, then when you go to apply for something you are qualified for, you don't get the job. Its pretty frustrating.
