Space Madness Round 3 - Space Murder

We all knew that nothing interesting was going to happen in the other round so here's the nest one:

-----

Nobody on the ship was saying much of anything. The paranoia was setting in too thick. Combine noticed through his ocular enhancement that the rest of his shipmates were sweating much more than normal. Combine saw how the others looked at him. He was the only cyborg on board. He realized he was going to have to do something drastic.

Flunkie was starting to get nervous. It was almost his turn to take the pee test and he had snorted snow much Dust that he’d probably be high for a week. He had his backup plan worked out. If the STISO tested him, he would simply have to murder him. Yes, that would do. Who could argue with him? The STISO is kind of a jerk and nobody really likes him. Why, it would be the sanest thing anyone had done all day. Then it happened. Unannounced, the cyborg man yelled at the top of his lungs and executed the most amazing triple backflip any of them had ever seen. Everyone stopped what they were doing and stood still for a few moments until Jeepnut broke the silence.
“Okay, I’m pee testing the cyborg next”

The Professor had just run out of tea. This whole space ship charade had become a bore. He wasn’t feeling too chipper about living either at that point. He stood up and announced, “Living has become quite droll”, and then shot himself in the head. His blood splattered into the tea of Dyne, Teuthida, and George Washnigton. George Washington was quite upset by this turn of events and when to go change into his casual suit. Upon opening the closet he noticed that depressed fellow Angrist’s body stuffed into the closet, several of his bones broken. Before he could protest, he felt a cold blade slip between the columns of his spine. Well actually, he didn’t feel it because it dismantled his nervous system. With his last thoughts, he dreamed of Martha.

Elsewhere on the ship, Mario Lover rooted frantically through a large box. He removed articles of clothing, food, journals until he finally uncovered his stash. Guns. Beautiful guns.

Ok, so Aladuf, Yoda, Swan, Bube, GameMaster, and Typhoid are all unaccounted for at the time of the murder. Interesting.

Re: Space Madness Round 3 - Space Murder

Thirteen left. I wish I knew how many of them are still crazies...

As do I

I don't trust that stoned Flunkie

uber_paddler 06-28-2008 01:58 PM

Re: Space Madness Round 3 - Space Murder

Yeah, but if you were crazy then you wouldn't need to get stoned, now would you?

Combine 017 06-28-2008 02:38 PM

Re: Space Madness Round 3 - Space Murder

Being crazy and getting stoned probably made a new high for him. Hes not just stoned. Hes crazy stoned.

edit: I did a backflip :)

Re: Space Madness Round 3 - Space Murder

Oh no, guns? What if you shoot in the wrong place and the vacuum seal is broken and we all freezedry up like shrimp?

First cheating, now guns.. thatmariolover is totally crazy. :p

Yup, seems like one crazy bastard to me.

Re: Space Madness Round 3 - Space Murder

Come now, come now! Let us not be hasty, friends.

Is it crazy to want to be able to protect yourself? I submit that it is in fact, not crazy to seek protection. Certainly, I brought these weapons aboard for reasons most of you wouldn't approve of. But regardless of how they got here, the fact is that there are guns on the ship, the ship is full of a bunch of crazies, and I intend to defend myself.

Is that insanity?

You're all crazy! I'm going back to work now :(

Its not that crazy. As a Combine Soldier I am equipped with a standard issue Pulse Rifle. Hes not the only one with a gun. I say we divide the room in half, split us up into 2 groups and try to weed out the crazies. Anyone whos with me come to my side of the room. (no crazy people please)

Boil another pot of water posthaste! We already lost one comrade to an empty cup. I refuse to lose another!

I shouldn't have run from my past. :(

Looks like somebody thought I knew too much? That's cool. :D It will be interesting to find out who it was. :)

Angrist out.

Re: Space Madness Round 3 - Space Murder

Alright. I'd be willing to bet my sanity that Angrist was killed by the crazies. Angrist last round was casting suspicion on Flunkie44 and was then killed. I'm going with Flunkie for this round.

Really? I'm not crazy, so we should vote you out next round, then, eh?

I still don't get how this is all tied back to me. I haven't done anything in this game but wonder where my damn butterflies went, but now I won't even get the chance to ask, with the captain dead.

Re: Space Madness Round 3 - Space Murder

Alright guys, I've solved this game almost beyond a doubt (Edit: Wrong about a few parts possibly). I realize this in and of itself is going to sound insane, but I ask that you at least think it out. Really think about it before you label me insane.

Meta-game version:

We're not insane. Not one of us is insane. Dyflon is sending out a PM to a random person each round that makes them the vigilante. They get two kills in order to make it seem like there's a third party group doing a kill each round as well.

The only way to beat the game and make sure the 'sane' people win, is to stop killing. If you get a PM telling you that you're the vigilante, DO NOT USE IT. I've spoken to two different people who say they were PM'ed and given the vigilante role for one round, both separately told me they got two targets. Kind of a big Edit: apparently if you don't use your vigilante kills you yourself die. Maybe a single sacrifice is all that's required to stop the killing?

In turn, DO NOT VOTE IN THESE THREADS. Dyflon didn't post the rules in the first thread for a reason. I believe this is because we're not required to vote this time around.

Dyflon isn't telling us who among the dead was bad or who was good during the narration because we're all on the same team!

Roleplayed for you guys:

-Picks up the Ships Intercom-

You're scared. It's natural. But I can give answers.

We're not crazy. None of us ever were. We're under the influence of a space alien called a Dyflon which is sending out telepathic suggestions. You see, Dyflons feed off of fear and aggression. This Dyflon picks one person and sends them an impulse to kill two people. He then moves onto another target, to keep confusion high, again sending the impulse to kill two people. I've already spoken with two of the Dyflon's targets. It's unmistakable.

In turn, we look to each other to receive our blame. And we ourselves kill someone off because we're afraid. Don't you see!? The Dyflon is making us act crazy! Killing each other out of fear is insanity!

The only way to defeat the Dyflon is to ignore these impulses. If you get the impulse to kill, IGNORE IT. DO NOT GIVE IN. And in turn, the kills will stop because when the Dyflon's hunger is not sated, he will move on. If we band together, we can do this. We can stop the killing, stop the insanity. But the only way to do it is to stop the killing.

Please, if you kill me because you think I'm insane, I beg that you remember what I have said later down the road. Eventually this is going to be a last man standing game, and you'll all be losers. Because this ship can't be piloted by just one person. The only way we can make it out alive is together.

A HUGE EDIT:

I may have been mistaken, at least partially. Aladuf will explain more. But if he's right, there's really no way to win?

Aladuf 06-28-2008 06:30 PM

Re: Space Madness Round 3 - Space Murder

That sounds pretty good TML but I was the vigilante for one round and the rules stated are that "if you don't vote then you, yourself are eliminated" So according to your rules if we stop voting then we get voted off which would make the game unbeatable.

thatmariolover 06-28-2008 06:33 PM

Re: Space Madness Round 3 - Space Murder

I agree... It makes the game unbeatable.

Does anybody else have anything they want to share? Or any ideas?

What if a single vigilante sacrificing himself is enough to stop any more vigilantes from popping up?

Bube 06-28-2008 07:02 PM

Re: Space Madness Round 3 - Space Murder

It's the weekend again, so we all know that there won't be a lot of posting. It would be nice if this round was given double time.

What really scared me about this game is manasecret getting killed. After what he revealed last game - nobody voted for him, but still he was killed. I'd bet my Space Madness-life that there's a person (or group) who doesn't want the truth out. And the same thing happened with Vampyr as well. He had a few theories. And he got killed too..

I !vote Swan because he didn't give any reason for his vote against manasecret last round. I don't know if he's crazy or not, but I think he's special. :)

thatmariolover 06-28-2008 07:05 PM

Re: Space Madness Round 3 - Space Murder

What if there's somebody with the special ability to choose a Vigilante each round? In which case, they need to stop.

I think you're trying to get the sane people to not vote someone out so that the crazies get free reign over us.

You make a good bet. You can never lose considering that we won't know if he was killed by crazies until the end of the game.

Combine 017 06-28-2008 07:43 PM

Re: Space Madness Round 3 - Space Murder

TML I already took what you said into consideration, and discontinuing to vote might actually work. But wheres the fun in that? Besides, I can land the ship, maybe not perfectly, more of a grinding halt along the ground, but its better than dive bombing a planet.

Swan 06-28-2008 07:48 PM

Damn right I am special. I am the bloody engineer. In all my years of fixing up the ships of course I have learned to fly it.

You're all talking like madmen. The whole lot of you.
With your assumptions, judgements, and slander for no reason.
You cannot solve life. There is no answer to survival, other than surviving.
Plain and simple.
You cannot wage war on a God, nor can you wage a war on ideology.
Someone, wants us to die.
Someone is deeming us not fit enough to live.
It's our job, to ourselves, to figure out who this person is, and eliminate them, before we eliminate ourselves.

Maybe the crazies already died.
Maybe now we're going insane with our own assumptions, and cabin-fever, and killing ourselves just because we got looked at funny.

One vote for everyone? Would it revert to a random number generator

You can't rationalize with killing.

The thing is, we're all crazy.
We start off sane, and then resort to mass-murdering everyone in cold-blood.
The only way out is suicide, and as that went for the professer, it makes you seem goddamn crazy.

There has to be a way to end the madness.
