GameTavern: Post Pictures of Your Gaming Area!

This is 100% ripped off from GAF but I was thinking that I'd like to see where you guys game it up. Post some pix of where you get your game on.

First I just wanted to post my old set up before it changed up a bit recently... this pic was taken for one of the Tavern Wars challenges a while ago:

And here's the newly updated, and much improved set up that I'm currently rocking. It even includes my freshly purchased Gamecube for the Zelda games I want to play along with Wave Race!

Now it's your turn, show us what you do it to ;)

I'm about due for an update to my setup but my damn battery is dead.

But I took a picture for an end-of-semester project I did a couple of months ago. It's a device that detects when a TV is on, which notifies a server and sends you an email. It also lists it on websites and RSS feeds. Phidgets and sensors, man. Easy shit. I literally threw this device together in seconds and still got an A+ on the project.

But yeah, you can see one of the corners of one of my cabinets. Think of it as a teaser.

Alright, I finally snapped some quick pictures. I am messy as fuck, I know.

1. First picture is the whole setup in all of its glory. Not pictured: Surround speakers.

2. The second is my game cabinet. Believe me when I say a fuckton of shit is hiding behind here. It's all hidden by my current-gen games and blu-rays. Behind it I have all my SNES, N64, Xbox console, and random other consoles and accessories.

3. This is the showcase cabinet that showed off all of my PS1 RPGs, Sega Saturn, Turbo Grafx 16, Famicom, etc. As you can see, my Gamecube collection bled over into it, along with PS2 games. Also my SNES with Chrono trigger as I was playing it recently. Easter egg: You can see my Dreamcast with Gabe's signature on it, barely. :D

4. My DVDs used to be on top of my receiver but I wanted to put them somewhere a little more stable. Here is where I threw them. Also: random boxes.

5. Here's the setup. PS3 (yes, 20-gig model) in the lower left, 360 on the right, and Wii horizontal on the top. I threw GTAIV and my PS3 controller adjacent to the Wii to form symmetry or something. Before, I had the Wii on the left of the 360 standing vertically, but I didn't trust the 360.

Not pictured: I have another Gamecube and a slim PS2 here in my room but it's even more of a mess. Also all of the portable stuff.

EDIT: I just realized 2 of the picures weren't turned. But I am lazy!

Hahah, thanks. It mostly comes from knowing where to buy things super cheap and never trading stuff in. :D

Thats where you got me. I always end up trading stuff in... I wish I didn't do it, but sometimes I gotta use the old games to pay for the new ones.

I was going to do this today, but I ended up packing all my shit up and moving abruptly, instead.

So once it's set up, I'll send a pic of the sweet 70's retro pad.
Assuming.

Nice. I definitely recommend a Yamaha Home-theater-in-a-box. You get a receiver and a large center speaker. I couldn't ask for anything more for my money. I got mine for $400 but I think in America they're $300.

You know what, Turok's the one that's turned out on the right stack. You can see the Touchstone logo on it.

Picture 2: The games. GTA IV is missing from this photo.

Nice, jeepnut. There's another guitar to the left of your tv - looks like an SG? And is your LP a Gibson? Looks very nice :)

Nice. Just make sure your Wii and PS3 don't overheat. :)

I think I mentioned this before, but we had 6 PS3's put in our office at once for Turok, and we all turned them on - we all swear, they raised the temperature of the room by 20 degrees. And the 360s didn't change the temperature at all because we had been using them for 2-3 months at that point.

Aladuf 05-28-2008 05:15 PM

Re: GameTavern: Post Pictures of Your Gaming Area!

Damn, really?! I would think that the 360 puts out waaaaay more heat than the PS3, but I'll be careful with them, I guess I'll move them farther apart or something. Thanks for the heads up.

Re: GameTavern: Post Pictures of Your Gaming Area!

:lolz: I had a biiiiiiiig feeling you would hate that. But I think it looks really good like that in its current position, so, it shall stay :D

Dyne 05-28-2008 06:35 PM

Re: GameTavern: Post Pictures of Your Gaming Area!

If your TV doesn't distribute much heat, you could move your Wii under it horizontal like I have. :D You could also move your left speaker to where your 360 games are, and your right speaker beside your 360. It might widen your acoustics, too.

Aladuf 05-28-2008 06:41 PM

Re: GameTavern: Post Pictures of Your Gaming Area!

hmm... I like your ideas Dyne, I think I shall experiment with moving them around tonight after me and Jim play some Boom Blox.

Renwood 05-28-2008 06:47 PM

Re: GameTavern: Post Pictures of Your Gaming Area!

Jim's going to "accidentally" break your tv if you don't address the vertical issue.

Who signed your Dreamcast, Dyne?!

Also, my gaming area is non-existent :( I had a half assed one a few months back, but sold everything for money and personal reasons like mentioned before. So...yeah. I have a crap computer for very basic gaming needs.

Gabe from Penny Arcade. :D I also have 3 sign "cels" above my fireplace signed by both Gabe and Tycho. I also have Rogue Squadron, Eternal Darkness and Shenmue signed, just for the hell of it, plus a large-scale sketch up in my room of CTS.

Also, that sucks. :(

Re: GameTavern: Post Pictures of Your Gaming Area!

Thanks for the tip Dyne, I moved the speakers by my tv and put one on the right side of my surround sound receiver and the other one on the left side of my blu rays and it sounds WAAAAAAY better.

Dyne 05-28-2008 10:24 PM

Re: GameTavern: Post Pictures of Your Gaming Area!

Great to hear. :D Yeah, sound is a curious beast when it comes to setting up home theaters. I'm glad to have taken audio theory courses in my time at school.

No, no Gibson sadly. Both guitars are Epiphones. The LP is very nice though.

Not a huge fan of SGs but I absolutely adore LPs - which is why I spent every penny I could find on my ebony Epi LP :) Words can't describe how much I love it!

Hmm, I'm guessing mine is last year's, the YHT280. Amazon has this, supposedly, this years model, for even cheaper,it looks like. :D The YHT380:

Dyne, one more question on your Yamaha. Was it easy to integrate with your 360?

Re: GameTavern: Post Pictures of Your Gaming Area!

Kinda went a little crazy, but here we go: (the only stuff not pictured here is my black DS Phatty and my silver PSP Slim)

My room

Games I'm getting ready to ship off, and a free Katamari PSP case and PSP lanyard I got from the free thread at NeoGAF

Games (used to be a whole lot more before I started selling them off)

TV

Consoles

Desk

My PC (HP case, 2.4 GHz [overclocked to 3.0 GHz] Intel Core 2 Quad Processor Q6600, 4 GB DDR2 RAM [PC5300, 2 x 1 GB, 2 x 512 MB], eVGA 8800GT), Dell 20.1" 2005FPW

Junk Closet (Just moved here a couple months ago, still don't have everything organized)

Old consoles that I love to drag out every now and then

Sony S-Force Pro Front Surround Sound System that I'd love to hook up, but I'm an audiotard and don't even know where to start (I'd want to use it for PS3, 360, and Dish.. how the heck would I do that?!)

Old PC parts and boxes

Mini fridge and stuff
