X-men 3: The Last Stand (Pre-impressions)

I just saw a 7 minute long preview from FOX's HDTV special of X-men 3 The Last Stand, and I must say.... this movie looks slick...

By all means it's got the most mutant action you will ever come across and it puts the other 2 movies to shame when it comes to mutant action. I'm thinking you will be able to see at least 50 or more mutants in the movie, some of which maybe 20 you'll recognize if your an avid X-men comic reader.

Is anyone dying to see this? Any pre-debut impressions from the trailer or did anyone else see the preview?

You're member #3 I have to remind that we have fully functional movie forum.

I wasn't very impressed with with the second one. I remember enjoying it while watching it but looking back I have no idea why. Can't say I'm dying to see this one though I shall watch it.

Who were the other 2?
I shall have their heads!

It seems the more and more you talk, the less movies we like. I thought x-2 was the superior movie due to its plot, characters and some awesome action pieces.

I wasn't looking forward to this movie at all due to all the changes and problems it was undergoing at the beginning. Then ended up with a director who is only so-so. And then reading reviews of the script which have some plot details that are just out there.

But the trailer and 7-min preview had kind of turned me on it a bit. Not looking forward to it like it was batman begins 2 or spiderman 3 but I will see.

It's an hour and 43 minutes long.....:(

Just watched, I'm more excited then before. I've always loved when they have lots of characters like this...except in Mortal Kombat:Annihilation. That was just trying to hard.

Re: X-men 3: The Last Stand (Pre-impressions)

I loved the M-Men series so far, but I am hesitant about it bieing out of the hands of Brian Singer, who treated the plots and characters with the utmost respect. I keep having this fear of X-Men turing into the Batman series once Joel friggin' Schumacher replaced Tim Burton.

But so far, I'm leaning towards it being good. Thed clips I've seen have been good and it looks like Singer's replacement is following him in tone and respect for the series.

One criticism... Juggernaut looks like a tool.

Well juggernaut does look like a tool but I can't imagine a live action football...

Re: X-men 3: The Last Stand (Pre-impressions)

I don't get the live action football comment but eh.

It does seem like the rumor about it being about hour 45 mins is true.

Which parts it as one of the shortest superhero movies. Ever. With a huge cast. Hmm

I saw it last night. I thought it was pretty good, but I preferred 1 and 2.

The fight between Iceman and Fireguy (dunno his name) was kinda lame, and coulda been heaps better

Three movies and no Gambit. This series fails.

Re: X-men 3: The Last Stand (Pre-impressions)

Supposedly they didnt put him in because his attitude and powers are too similar to Wolverine and Cyclops...at least that is what I heard....what a cop out for not incorporating arguably the most popular character into the movies.

Nightcrawler's personality reminds me of Canyarion. They act and talk the same way.

Re: X-men 3: The Last Stand (Pre-impressions)

I'll be seeing it tomorrow. I hope they incorporate the sentinals into the series eventually, although i dunno how that'd work.

Or maybe Apocalypse or Sinister.

So, I was supposed to have seen it tonight in an employee screening, but they moved it to Wednesday at the last minute (realized that there were plenty of fans willing to pay for amidnight premiere, I suppose) so I missed it... I was rather disappointed, too...

I'll see it Tuesday, though...

Just got home... I really enjoyed it. Although there were some scenes that I have some negative comments on. But I'll wait to mention that in the post-impressions thread.

I'm very glad I went to see the midnight showing though!

I haven't seen it yet, but I made the mistake of actually reading reviews and reviewers still can't understand how to put in SPOILER before they SPOIL S**T!!!

Drives me nuts.

Well, between this movie, Da Vinci, and Over the Hedge, work was hell again.

BTW, Over the Hedge looks kind of promising. Sat it on a little of it during my break. It was made by the Shrek people. If you're in the market to gamble on a movie, try this one for size.

Re: X-men 3: The Last Stand (Pre-impressions)

I got back from it a few hours ago. I really enjoyed it; I must say when I read it was only 1h 43m long I was kind of shocked. I felt the movie was a really good length when I watched it; and wasn't particularly bored. There were a few parts here and there that I thought could have been done better, but all in all the movie was really good. I was entertained, and that's really about as important as it is to me.

Might be a few spoilers here, so highlight with caution.

I wasn't overly bothered by the plot devices they changed because in the end they're going in a similar direction, even if they do it a bit differently. Juggernaut is a mutant instead of a nerd with a powerful crystal, the Phoenix is part of Jean Grey's subconscious, not an alien telepath that takes her over, she's not found on the dark side of the moon in a cacoon (though Xavier does use the word Cacoon as a bit of a throwback to those knowledgable in the universe).

And though I tried to ignore it, the Angel sub-plot was just a bit too stereotypically emo for me.

And if you see it in theaters, don't forget to stick around through the credits; there's something there that you have to see.

i just finished watching the movie and even though i have never read the comics and i occasionally saw the cartoon series. I was very impressed. I enjoyed the movie very much and that ending and that part after the credits. oh man i can't wait for the next.

Re: X-men 3: The Last Stand (Pre-impressions)

I came back from seeing it and I have mixed feelings about it. The action and visuals were superb but the plot was a bit whacked.

SPOILERS!!! DON'T READ!

Why did people have to randomly die like that? I mean.. Professor X dies and it was dramatic. I guess it was fitting.. but Cyclops randomly dies. That scene was very lackluster. And I understand that the movie doesn't follow the actual storyline but damn, that was crazy. I guess if you don't know the storyline from the comics/cartoons, you'll enjoy this movie. And the ending, they just had to do something like that...

I liked the movie, but it wasn't great. The first movie was great. I think this movie could have been a little longer. It was only good for the action..

Re: X-men 3: The Last Stand (Pre-impressions)

I saw this today with Fox 6, Dylflon and Dylflon's brother and father. I quite liked it. It was a fun little movie.

Spoilers

Way too much disintigration. And I was very confused after what happened to Cyclops, I thought she ate him

PS Wolverine is an ******* :p

Re: X-men 3: The Last Stand (Pre-impressions)

I really didn't care for it.

Here's my review:

*spoil city*

Cons:
-The story overall felt half assed with characters introduced that have little influence in the movie. The most glaring example of this is Archangel. He was hardly in the damn thing at all.
-Many things in the movie were not full enough explored (Phoenix for instance).
-Characters died for no good god damn reason.
-Nobody seemed to care that Cyclops was dead.
-Probably should have had more action.
-Hardly any character development.
-The team of 6 X-Men for the end fight felt slapped together as half of the characters in the team had hardly been explored in any of the films.
-Too short.
-Did I mention the story wasn't very good? Seriously, I feel like the team behind the movie thought about writing the thing merely as an obstacle standing between them and money so they slapped a bunch of crap together.

Pros:
-Mutants everywhere
-Shadowcat was kinda hot.

*end spoils*

and there you have it..

You mean Angel...he doesn't become Archangel until Apocalypse gets to him.

And yes, Kitty Pryde was quite cute.

Oh, and another serious con is that there is no Nightcrawler.

Could someone tell me what happened after the credits? I didn't know there was anything after them so I didn't stick around.
