Moving to Austin, TX this fall
Doesn't neo live there? someone lives there. But Aundie was just accepted into UT: Austin, so we're heading down there to live.

Re: Moving to Austin, TX this fall
Redneck central?
or am i thinking of another place? |
Re: Moving to Austin, TX this fall
I don't think I would call Texans redneck. My definition of redneck tends to involve people in Missouri (of course that may just be because that's where I live).

Yea, there are lots of rednecks in Missouri. I go camping every year so I can attest to that. Actually, weve coined a better term for them...Carnies. Acutally, there are pretty much rednecks everywhere. |

LOL, yeah. |
Re: Moving to Austin, TX this fall
Yeah, I've met rednecks from Montana and Wyoming, from Bakersfield California and from Juneau Alaska. They're everywhere :D

Re: Moving to Austin, TX this fall
Attack of the rednecks!!
|
Re: Moving to Austin, TX this fall
I hear the worst of the worst reside in Alabama and Mississippi.
|
Re: Moving to Austin, TX this fall
Illinois is pretty redneck free. We just have Bears fans. We're like rednecks, except we grill burgers and brots instead of roadkill, and we worship Ditka.
|
Re: Moving to Austin, TX this fall
I'd have to say that is worse than being a redneck.
|
Re: Moving to Austin, TX this fall
I second that notion
|
Re: Moving to Austin, TX this fall
dont do anything bad, you steal some candy bam you got the needle, you litter BAM theres the chair, you take a pee out in the middle of desert BAMMM! theres like six rangers aiming there rifles toward you with a crazy seargent saying READY FIIIIRE!
|
Re: Moving to Austin, TX this fall
the difference between texan rednecks and all others is that texans have guns (legally), and therfore are THE rednecks :p
|
Re: Moving to Austin, TX this fall
Yehaw.......
Btw how do you feel about moving away from your friends? Must be fairly hard for you. |
Re: Moving to Austin, TX this fall
Austin is a pretty neat town. It has a great music scene and it is more "urban" than you'd think it would be. Hot as hell, though. Bring lots of deoderant.
|
Re: Moving to Austin, TX this fall
Austin, isn't redneckish. You go out to west Tx then you get the more colorful residents. There's a lot to see here and it's got a high hippy population. ugh! dang hippies. Here's a few links that'll help you get to know your new town. Hope you like it. :)
Oh BTW, if you like sports, there's the champion UT Longhorn football team, Dallas Stars (previous champs), San Antonio Spurs(continuing champs), UT Baseball team(champs), UT Basketball team( women better than the men), the Houston Astros (almost champs),no one acknowledges the Texas Rangers because they've sucked forever, and last but not least your hometown---Round Rock Express Minor League baseball team. A cheap but totally fun sports event here in town. http://www.austin360.com/ http://austin.citysearch.com/ |
Re: Moving to Austin, TX this fall
A chance to meet Crash, how interesting. :D
Austin is in no way redneck. In fact, Austin barely belongs in Texas. Austin was voted one of the best places for dating. Austin in one of the fasted growing cities in the technology industry. Austin is the only region in TX that votes democrat. The comment about deodorant is correct. We are overflowing with hippies here. |
Re: Moving to Austin, TX this fall
Wait, Retro Studios is in Austin, isn't it?!
You lucky bastard. |

Re: Moving to Austin, TX this fall
So neo, where is a good place to look for a place to live. I can't end up in the freaking ghetto, or too far away from the cool stuff. Since I'll be graduated college by then, thing shall be pretty interesting. I 'll have time to do stuff. I hear there is no shortage of things to do is austin.
John, maybe i can con you into helping me with my mjolnir armor project. And possibly work together to get GT back where it was. Hey, it can happen. |

Nice area. Kinda close to where I live. That grey building on the far right center is a Best Buy.

|
Re: Moving to Austin, TX this fall
Well then you have choices, because there's a compusa a couple stores down, and a circuit city further down and perpendicular.
Maybe we camp together. |

Two grown men camping together in order to buy a Wii. And what would happen if Crash or Neo got the last Wii over the other. Would there be bloodshed? |

Re: Moving to Austin, TX this fall
Well, I'm here... it's freaking too hot for my mountain self. But, it is a lot better than I imagined it to be though.
You're right neo, there are mini-malls for days here. |
Re: Moving to Austin, TX this fall
Welcome to sunny Austin, and I do mean sunny. I trust you are getting familiar with the area. All the bars and clubs are on 6th street, though you should avoid downtown and I-35 on Saturdays when the Longhorns are playing. Though you should definitely check out game at some point. For everything else you can logon to http://austin.citysearch.com. They list the movies and some of the restaurants in town.

Re: Moving to Austin, TX this fall
Alamo Draft House and Barton Springs are two of my favorite places. They got a great disc golf course as well that is along this creek and jogging track. I forgot where that is, though.
Oh, and The Salt Lick has my favorite barbecue ever. It's in Driftwood, TX, right north of Austin I think. BYOB. |
