Zelda heading for Revolution?

I read rumors in GameInformer that Nintendo is considering moving Zelda to the Revolution. What do you think of this? At first I was disappointed, but the more I thought about it the more it seems like a good idea. Having Zelda as a launch title would go a long way to selling systems.

I doubt it's true...but if it is I wanna know as soon as possible...so can sell my cube and get best price I can for it...which won't be much anyway.

Re: Zelda heading for Revolution?

That would be awesome and yes, it would sell many systems. If they did that though, Nintendo would have to create another game to serve as Gamecube's final 'hurrah'.

..... :hmm:

Read the codename of their new console again: Revolution. Yes, they mean to create new kinds of games. Would it help to have a launch game that was a GCN game half a year before it was released? Are they just gonna cram in some way to swing your sword with the new controller? That's it, boing! a Revolution game?

No.

Re: Zelda heading for Revolution?

No, they won't. They'll release it like normal because the Revolution has backwards compatibility.

I frankly find it hard to believe they'd do a complete makeover after so much progress. Heck, I even played it at PAX. The game was originally scheduled to be released this time of year.

No.

Wasn't Perfect Dark Zero originally supposed to be for the Xbox, not the 360? I know it isn't the exact same thing considering that the 360 means that they going back to where they started. But it is sort of the same thing. If it's a good game, who cares if it a sequel.

Re: Zelda heading for Revolution?

I think MS might've told Rare to start with the Xbox but the moment they had a dev kit for the 360, they gave it to Rare and said "You are not to make anymore Xbox games, only Xbox 360" so they started cramming to get PD0 ready for a release.

As for the Zelda thing, its probably gonna stay on the 'Cube and then a new one made for Rev

Canyarion 11-27-2005 06:20 PM

Re: Zelda heading for Revolution?

I'd expect some extra features for when you play it on a Rev, like the Oracle games on the AGB.

And PD0 is waaaaaaaaaaaay different. We never saw anything of that until it was made for Xb360. And 360 is basicly a stronger Xbox, nothing new...

Re: Zelda heading for Revolution?

I assumed it was unofficially moved to the Revolution the day it was pushed into 2006.

Re: Zelda heading for Revolution?

I don't know if it's such a good idea to release a major game like Zelda at the ass-end of a console's lifetime. Too many people are already moving on.

Canyarion 11-28-2005 09:50 AM

Re: Zelda heading for Revolution?

You mean the Super Metroid problem.
I think this will be less problematic, because of the backwards compatibility.
It would be a bigger problem to have a launch game that does the console no credit.

That was pretty much Majora's Mask, though. And that didn't stop me from loving it to death.

No, they should switch it over to the new console and rush the product out for launch...

Come now, Neo, the ass-end has it's fans...

Who's rushing? The game is basically complete. They just need to spruce up the visuals and maybe alter the control scheme to be compatible with the controller.

Of that I have little doubt. :hump:

Well, rushed in a next-gen sense... Depending on what Revolution is capable of visually (or even when it came to AI and such), it could come off as a great game, just neither really next-gen material, nor a totally new experience like Nintendo seems to be aiming for with their new system...

It'd have no real next-gen style, know what I'm saying?

Neo 11-28-2005 05:15 PM

Re: Zelda heading for Revolution?

Yeah I suppose that's true; the game wouldn't be built around the revolution. Though I don't think we can use that standard for every game on the Revolution because I bet many will not make use of the new controller. It will be interesting to see what % of games actually do utilize the controller.

Re: Zelda heading for Revolution?

"Several critics are pegging Twilight Princess as Game of the Year material, and the move into '06 won't change those predictions. Still, we've heard rumblings that the game won't make its summer ship date. And if so, does that mean Nintendo will give it a Revolution-ary makeover?"

This is apparently taken from the latest issue of EGM.

Take it as you will...

Jason1 11-28-2005 08:54 PM

Re: Zelda heading for Revolution?

Why wouldnt it make its summer ship date? This isnt Rare we're talking about. I dont believe that EGM rumor.

Jonbo298 11-28-2005 10:21 PM

Re: Zelda heading for Revolution?

Who knows. Maybe Nintendo just wanted to give people some "tasting" hype at E3 and then turn around and go "BLAMMO! Revolution launch title" :p

Re: Zelda heading for Revolution?

This rumor is complete nonsense. After countless Megatons, Revolution Mock-ups, and the absolute embarassment that was E3 (IT'LL BE SHOWN ON WEDNESDAY!! MATT VAGUELY REFERENCED TO THE POSSIBLITY!!!), how in the hell can people manage to continue making up and believing such utter bullsh*t?

It is coming out on the GameCube, there is no such possibility of this rumor being true.

DeathsHand 12-02-2005 08:53 PM

Re: Zelda heading for Revolution?

Especially now that it has been announced that Zelda will be playable at G.A.M.E...

I doubt they'd do that for a cancelled version of a game...

BreakABone 12-22-2005 07:48 PM

Re: Zelda heading for Revolution?

Well this seems to be a cool alternative

Still release the game for Cube and allow some Rev features if you play it on Rev.

Re: Zelda heading for Revolution?

Orchestrated music has been confirmed 100%. There's even an interview where Koji Kondo himself he wants it all orchestrated.

I'm on cloud 9 right now.

I don't care much about the revolution controller compatibility. It's just a gimmick to get people to buy the new console - and it'll work.

Can we all say replayability ^_^

Re: Zelda heading for Revolution?

Did they delay this game just to add hidden features for the Revolution..?

Jonbo298 12-23-2005 02:08 AM

Re: Zelda heading for Revolution?

I suspect that was the reason for the delay, was to optimize it a little for Rev also

I think that's what ruined Super Mario Sunshine for me. I was so, so looking forward to Jazzy, latin music to accompany the whole thing - instead we got that Casio keyboard crap.

It was good, but after what Smash Brothers promised for this generation, it wasn't up to par.

Teuthida 12-25-2005 03:45 AM

Re: Zelda heading for Revolution?

I would agree with you if SMS looked like the original trailer...but after the downgrade...was surprized they bothered to even make new music...I doubt it was the music that made the experience subpar.

...but the music everyone remembers are the MIDIs. So simple, so catchy, melt in your mouth, ooze out your ears magical.

On a somewhat related/unrelated note: Ever hear of Contraband?
