Ok, I'm buying MK for sure, but I'm not sure what to get to get online.

I heard about 2 things. A compatible router and that Nintendo USB thingy wich transform a USB port on a connected computer into a wifi hot point.

Which is better?

Either one is good but one is pretty much cheaper - although it's only available online right now. That's the Nintendo Dongle.

The problem with just going out and buying the cheapest router is that it might not work well. Check http://www.nintendowifi.com for more details and a list of routers that are compatible.

Ah, id love to give you mine right now, but I still havent purchased the game. With any luck I'll have it tomorrow evening, and I will share my friends code as soon as possible.

Oh and Nitram, I bought a Linksys BEFW11S4 several months ago. After rebates it ended up being like 10 bucks. Sure its not wireless G, but its wireless B, and thats all that you need for the DS anyways, it was a breeze to set up, and its 5 star recommended according to Nintendo. I guess we will see for sure how well it works as soon as I purchase the game, which should be tomorrow.

I use that router. I just had to change my WEP Key from 64bit to 128bit. But after that worked like a charm.

problem: my wireless router works for every other wireless device, psp, computer, laptop... but no workie for the DS.... what gives??????

It does seem awfully weird that it works for some routers and not others, doesn't it? I've never heard of a laptop being incompatible with a router (does PSP have compatability problems?).

If you need a solution, any cheap router can be doubled as a repeater of your existing router network. You just have to tell it that you don't want it to be a router, only to be a hub.

This game makes me wish I had DS!! Grrr... but I can't buy a DS though at the price it is, but as soon as GameBoy 3 comes out and the DS drops to $30 I hope people are still playing MKDS.

You need to enter the DS's MAC number into your router's setup.

I connected for the first time today. I put my friend code up.

I had 3 online battles. I won them all. I only had one tough competition and that was a guy who boosted every chance he got. It was really fun knocking him off rainbow road.

I've come across some characters. For one, Costanza, who has a picture of George from Sienfeld. I also saw a sweet Megaman X portrait.

Man it's so fun. My heart was racing the whole time. It's like a crack addiction.

My father might be buying us a hub right now. So until then, I'll only be playing between classes when I'm at school.

Im a little confused on the whole "friends" thing. I entered all of you guys friends codes in, so does that mean it will automatically alert me when one of you guys are online? Or do we have to actually get together online to pick a specific time to get linked up as being friends?

Not much. Dyne can only access at school or public wifi spots. Dan is trying to keep a straight win record but had his first loss recently. Jason has trouble arranging times to meet with us. Thatmariolover never seems to be on. And I'm selling mine.

Either me or my brother are on quite a bit. I still havent ever had that friend icon pop up and ive added all you guys to my friends list. Bad timing I guess.

Question: That suppoused "Friends icon," does it pop up whenever a friend come online? Or does it only pop up if a friend is online AND trying to connect by using friends? Because if it is the latter, no wonder ive never seen it come up...I know I never try to connect with friends because I just assume nobody is online.

Are you sure? It usually takes a long time. Even when I go to play in the afternoon, it takes 5-10 minutes.
