Accidental invention to light up the future

For you science geeks

Quote:

The main light source of the future will almost surely not be a bulb. It might be a table, a wall, or even a fork.

An accidental discovery announced this week has taken LED lighting to a new level, suggesting it could soon offer a cheaper, longer-lasting alternative to the traditional light bulb. The miniature breakthrough adds to a growing trend that is likely to eventually make Thomas Edison's bright invention obsolete.

and watch as the price for these things to be put on stuff is 10x higher then a standard light bulb. People always look for a way where you save money but in the process get screwed because its more expensive.

what a day that'll be, if it ever happens.

I can already see the headlines now.

Neo's original post says that the main light source may be a table, a wall, or a fork. You said you can "see the headlines now." That's where my response comes in.

Everyone boycott this controversial discovery by purchasing 10 lightbulbs today. I don't believe in progression when it involves tossing someone else's hard work out the window. Unless they can modify this discovery to operate within the confines of a bulb, I reject it without further thought.

Next up: crowds of concerned parents start boycotting this new invention under the theory that it will give their kids cancer. These LEDs will soon go the way of the microwave oven and the cell phone.
