Re: Nintendo keeps em coming

Dunno what you were linking to but here's some artwork and the final boxart:

And the revealed secret characters are Waluigi, Shy Guy, Dry Bones, and Rob the Robot. Gonna be 8 in all.

Been waiting forever for Shy Guy.

I can't see that being the final artwork.

It's so... bland.

Krypton 10-23-2005 07:23 PM

Re: Nintendo keeps em coming

I think its nice, but it could be great.

400, great.

The artowkr needs a background of pizzaz. Thats the problem with it.

Mario's pose also scares me...

Well Sunshine's boxart was pretty bland too. If you stare at how his legs are it doesn't seem quite right.

And here's the list of secret characters revealed so far:

Koopa Troopa
Toadette
Petey Piranha
Waluigi
Shy Guy
Dry Bones
R.O.B. the Robot
, not the StarFox one, but the "Robotic Operating Buddy" peripheral from the NES.

Teuthida 10-25-2005 04:29 PM

Re: Nintendo keeps em coming

First in-game pics of Dry Bones. Damn those pics are horrible quality though.

And here's the final final US boxart complete with the Wi-Fi logo and "Game Experience May Change During Online Play" under the E for Everyone. I've come to the conclusion that the boxart is so boring because if you had an exciting boxart in addition to the sweetness of the game itself you would experience sensory overload.

Re: Nintendo keeps em coming

All fun aside, the kart's that these character's are assigned to are so f---ing gimmicky that it almost makes me want to transfer my loyalty to another racing series.

Nothing says, "Fun" like racing with Princess Peach in her gender role specified pink kart! Or how about Luigi and his vacumn-mobile!!! Vroom-vroom! Because after all, the only time the character of Luigi was ever affiliated with a vacumn-like device was in a rather ****ty Gamecube launch title in 2001! If this doesn't satisfy your racing urges, go bananas with Donkey Kong is his Rhino-Racer! Cause I'll be damned if any animal is going to be allowed to drive in a vehicle that has even a shred of dignity and class! If being discriminated and treated like a second class citizen doesn't float your boat, choose Mario. Does Mario drive a FLUDD waterpack shaped kart? Nope. How about a mushroom or fire-flower since he's employed those items extensively throughout his career? Nope. Mario gets to drive the fastest, coolest looking, white kart which looks like a standard racing vehicle!

Teuthida 10-25-2005 06:52 PM

Re: Nintendo keeps em coming

With all the whoring Mario's been doing he can afford such a nice kart.

Re: Nintendo keeps em coming

Hmmm. GM has a point there. Im REALLY looking forward to this one.

DK on a motorcycle with the Bullet Bill weapon.

And Wario seems to be riding a tractor...

The battle mode is still "Get Shine." Will Sunshine ever be behind us?

Dyne 10-25-2005 07:10 PM

Re: Nintendo keeps em coming

Oh man, a paint mode? This game just sounds better and better every time I read about it.

Teuthida 10-25-2005 07:12 PM

Re: Nintendo keeps em coming

Yeah...tis why I suggested we start a clan with a GT emblem on the karts...if people wanna do such a thing...

And about GM's kart gender role comments:

Toad, Dry Bones, or Koopa Troopa are likely going to be my characters.

Teuthida 11-07-2005 12:09 AM

Re: Nintendo keeps em coming

I was so syked to play as Shy Guy but according to the official web site he's only used for download play matches. :( Guess its Dry Bones or Koopa Troopa (who I used in conjunction with Diddy in DD) for me.

Teuthida 11-08-2005 07:38 PM

Re: Nintendo keeps em coming

Dammit. Here's all the playable characters:

The others were lies and Shy Guy still only on single kart play. Man that sucks. Dry Bones it is.

Dyne 11-08-2005 09:54 PM

Re: Nintendo keeps em coming

No koopa troopa?!!?

I am ashamed!

I'll probably do DK.

ZOMGZ. I've had it paid off forever and never knew about the retro courses. That will undoubtedly be the best feature of the game.

Hell yeah; they were damn sweet in Super Circuit, and having them remade in 3D is orgasmic.
