not sure how many of you have Half Life 2. (do we have HL2 players here?) But some people are working on a mod for it, to completely remake goldeneye on it. Honestly i cant think of a better game engine to put it on, if done right this could be perfect. (been tried a few times by other people on other games, like Quake 3, but none ever felt right because of the game engine) And so far this one is really looking good. http://www.goldeneyesource.com/

They're working on Multiplayer first, then once they get that out so people can play online against each other, they say they're gunna work on remaking the single player.

as far as mods go, this one is pretty high on my watch list, if they get it right, it would be a blast to play online against people, especially with HL2 phisics and ragdoll deaths. :)

they released a closed (not public) beta, but i dont know when that was.



and thats quite normal for a mod to take a while.. crappy ones will show up quickly.. the ones worth waiting for, the ones that become popular take longer. they take thier time they find people who are good and wanting to work with them and carry on.

aside from rocket arena (very simple mod) theres never been a mod that came out in the first year that i found worth playing. the original Counter strike took a couple of years without releasing anything before it come out.


this one i understand theres a lot to do... the mod that kinda angers me is Sourceball which is just a sport themed game, 2 teams, 2 goals, 2 goalies and 5on5 or whatever. i woulda thought they'd of released a test version of it by now.

There was also a Perfect Dark mod for some game I don't remember. It was for a game I owned, so that's probably HL, HL2 or UT2004. :D

It looked promising though, and so does this.

theres 2 perfect dark mods being made for HL2 right now heh. 1 looks to be much further along then the other tho.

yea. i never played too much of PD, i dont remember which game engine would be a better fit for that one. But the HL2 source engine seems like the absolute perfect one to put Goldeneye on.

it also says people made 2 PD mods on the original HL. lol

That is pretty much the coolest thing ever. The original game holds up well, it just has the worst frame rate in any N64 game ever.

You can download Goldeneye Source now. It's the "alpha-version."

So, basically a supped up beta. I'm gonna try it out, you HL2 players should too.

Its not a souped up Beta. Alpha is the game before it hits Beta..basically, expect alot of bugs but its playable at least.

its just so people can get an idea of what its going to be, and they can start getting feedback before they fix things and make a beta.

Oh well, supped up beta, alpha beta, it's all good.

I'm still surprised this game has survived this long...no copyright issues yet.

surprised? i highly doubt there will be any copyright issues, they arent making any money off this, its a free mod.

and its been done MANY times on other, older games. and many other game remakes for free mods have been done also.









onto the game... its been so long since i actually played goldeneye, but there was no jumping in that game? im assuming thats why i cant jump in this. i think they should put that as an option for multiplayer servers later on, because even tho it wouldnt stay true to the original.. i think jumping would add a lot more to it.
