Anyways, Today on the way to the piercing place the gas ranged from $109.99 a Litre, to $119.99 a Litre.

What the hell is that?

I remember when $0.60 cents for a Litre was a lot.

I remember when my dad was complaining that gas prices hit $0.49/L. Wow that was a long time ago.

yeah, I realize that gas is up because refineries were shut down as a result of a hurricane. But before the hurricane, it was still 2.69 here... and YES that is high, now its just outrageously high....

maybe it's just colorado, but every damn person has a giant SUV

I support higher gas prices.

I was afraid of the car/job complex too, at your age, but I make a heck of a lot more than I spend on gas, so it's cool.

How to Drive Economically:

6. Think ahead when approaching hills. If you accelerate, do it before you reach the hill, not while you're on it.

7. Think ahead at stop signs and stop lights - no need to race up to a red light and then jam on the brakes to slow down. Plan to slow down before the light. If you can slow down soon enough to not have to stop at the light, you can save quite a bit a fuel versus starting from a standing start.

8. Stoplights are usually timed for your motoring advantage. By traveling steadily at the legal speed limit you boost your chances of having the "green light" all the way.

9. Regular tune-ups ensure best economy; check owner's manual for recommended maintenance intervals. Special attention should be given to maintaining clean air filters... diminished air flow increases gas waste.

10. Remove snow tires during good weather seasons; traveling on deep tire tread really robs fuel!

11. Inflate all tires to maximum limit. For each pound of pressure the tire is under inflated, you consume about 1% more fuel. Make sure you carry in your car an accurate tire gauge and know what the pressure should be. Check your tires at least twice a month and always before, during and after long trips.

12. Remove excess weight from trunk or inside of car - extra tires, back seats, unnecessary heavy parts. Extra weight reduces mileage, especially when driving up inclines.

13. During cold weather watch for icicles frozen to car frame. Up to 100 lbs. can be quickly accumulated! Accumulated snow and ice cause tremendous wind resistance. Try and keep your car clean at the carwash when possible..

14. Avoid using roof top carriers - they can cause serious drag on the car and lessen your mileage by up to 15%. Pack it in or leave in behind.

Though, I disagree with that window tip because it's not accurate. It's true that opening your windows will very mildly affect your aerodynamics, but your Air Conditioning will eat way, way more than opening your windows will at most speeds. It was proved on the TV show "Mythbusters." On higher speeds though, on the highway, it sort of turns around though, and then the windows become a problem. But if you drive a car and not an SUV/Van/Truck/Hummer/Ridiculous vehicle, it turns around at a much higher speed.

So you should never have your AC on unless a woman is in the car. (What's up with their wacky sense of temperature, anyways.)

Maybe egotistical car companies who think fuel efficient cars aren't worth it (same with everyday people) are waking up to the fact that the Europeans and Japanese are infinitely smarter then us.

Why didn't we see that people in Europe and whatnot pay over $6 a gallon and drive cars that aren't hellbent on horsepower but more about saving money.

Yeah, I can't wait until i can afford a hybrid...I'll buy one in a second. Until then I'll be paying the predicted $3.50-$4.00 per gallon in the northeast in the coming months... *cries*

My 'low gas' indicator went on last night and I put in $35 and I still couldn't get a full tank. It's about 75-85% full. Sheesh!

The gas station closest to my house has pumps that won't go any higher than $2.99. lol. If gas gets any higher, they'll stop selling.

In Austin it's about $2.40. I'm in Memphis right now and it's about $3.20. Of course, we drove around for awhile and every gas station except for one was completely out of gas.
