ridiculous

Canada's post office is threatening to stop mail deliveries to a woman in Ottawa because her doorstep is 10 centimetres too high.
Christine Charbonneau said when she went to check her mail last Friday she found a Canada Post employee measuring her doorstep. He told her it was 30cm high - 10cm more than the maximum limit specified by building regulations.

"I said it was ridiculous to say that the step is too high ... Nobody else has complained," she told the Ottawa Citizen newspaper.
 petty...no idea how this little issue made itself to the news

Its not that he doesnt want to step the extra 10 cm, its that its illegal because its not following the building code.

Its not the post office...its Canada. Theyve got all sorts of bull**** regulations over there. For instance, were I work, we make waffle machines. We recently have gotten all our new machines "Canadian Standards Approved" which involved a whole bunch of pointless stuff to be done to them. I remember awhile back we had some machine going in a back room for weeks, that would just open and close a waffle iron...open...close...open...close. Why? Because apparently waffle machines must be opened and closed an ungodly amount of times before its good enough for Canada.

Well, I like our rules.

I don't want my chips full of oils that can cause anal leakage if you eat enough of them, just to increase shelf life.

I will take random stupid rules I will never encounter, to no anal leakage any day.

If it's anal leakage you want, there are quicker (and more exciting) ways than chips...

Lol yinnie...

I think this happpened at Wayne's suburb as well. Some lady renovated her front porch and the postbox is now about 2-3 metres further into the compund that it was before that.

The postie wouldn't get off his bike to put the letters in...so the woman had to put an ice cream tub out as a substitute postbox.

Sure the U.S has some stupid rules, but I hate the way Canadians talk about Americans.

What can I say, i'm just too opinionated :D

Re: ridiculous

The U.S. laws may be a little ridiculous, but when you compare them to Canadian laws & regulations... one stands out more than the other in terms of stupidity.

Blame Canada..

Wait, maybe I'm not reading that right.

Are they measuring the bottom of her door to the patio?

This sounds like it could only happen in Quebec.

Well, I'm sure if anybody outside of Canada (and America, I guess) actually cared about Canada, they'd talk bad about it, too.
