Madden on the 360
![]() Next-gen Madden premiering Saturday EA unveiling new Madden with "photo-realistic" graphics during first hour of NFL Draft on ESPN. screenshot See it » On Saturday morning, many gridiron faithful will gather round the tube for the NFL Draft to see which fresh-faced man-about-campus will suit up for their squad next year. The Bay Area looks to make major headlines that day, and not just because the San Francisco 49ers are expected to take Cal Berkeley quarterback with the number one overall pick. Redwood City-based publisher Electronic Arts is showing off the latest version of its top gun, Madden NFL 2006. Click Here. EA today announced that it will debut the next-generation edition of Madden NFL Football in a 60-second spot this Saturday. The ad will be shown during the first hour of the NFL Draft, which begins 9am Pacific Daylight Time. The ad will only run once during the broadcast. EA did not mention which next-generation console the footage would be from, but circumstantial evidence points towards the next Xbox, most commonly referred to as the Xbox 360. Microsoft's newest console will be unveiled on MTV May 12, and analysts believe it will be in homes in time for this year's Christmas. Sony's PlayStation 3 and Nintendo's Revolution, on the other hand, aren't expected to be available until the second half of 2006. "We have had a dedicated team working on next-generation Madden NFL football and we cannot wait for Madden fans to get a sneak peek at the experience that awaits them," said Frank Gibeau, Senior Vice President of North American Marketing for Electronic Arts. As a teaser for its fans, EA is posting screenshots of its next-gen Madden on the game's Web page once per day until the TV ad debuts. The first screenshot (in the box above) shows a close-up of the head of one player, possibly a member of the Minnesota Vikings or Baltimore Ravens, as he is falling to the ground during a snowy game. The stadium in the background is in soft focus, but the detail on the face is quite impressive--the individual strands of hair on the player's thin moustache can be discerned as can his frosty breath. Re: Madden on the 360
Damn that thing can pump some impressive graphics.
|
Re: Madden on the 360
Not really madden on 360, Should just be titled Next Gen Madden (which is what it is titled everywhere else)
footage may be from xbox, but who really knows and it wont matter. its how madden is going to look on all 3 nex gen consoles. |
Re: Madden on the 360
if this ends up being a PS3 exclusive, **** will hit the fan
you cant really judge how well the game will look from that shot...but it's almost guarunteed to blow people away |
Re: Madden on the 360
apparently the game will look like that though, more like a painting than a CG looking game... good thing too, i'm tired of the CG looking graphics. a new screenshot per day until the game is revealed on saturday.

Re: Madden on the 360
Imagine you had to render those characters. A hell of a job.
They should come up with a 3D scanner (I know they have those, but I don't think they use them for rendering) really fast. |
Re: Madden on the 360
Looks better but not 'uber amazing' to me
|
Re: Madden on the 360
You really can't say much from 1 close-up. You have to see the game in motion I think.
|
Re: Madden on the 360
You think so? *gasp*

Re: Madden on the 360
look pretty good, i especially like the snow. they look all different shapes and sizes of flakes instead of just a bunch of white dots.
|
Re: Madden on the 360
Circumstancial evidence points to the Next xbox....
I highly call that a confirmation that the next NFL 2006 from EA will be on the Xbox 360. But the game looks mad crazy. |
Re: Madden on the 360
Now if only this wasn't a sports game, I'd be interested in it. :sneaky:

Of course his bulge is huge. He's the King of all cosmos for a reason. |

But... even relative to the rest of his, the bulge is quite intimidating. |
Re: Madden on the 360
Would the mouths of all humans combined be enough to engulf this mighty bulge and toss it around playfully with the tongues of all humans combined?

Re: Madden on the 360
Does his realistic 'tough' and 'mean' face impress me? Nope.
Do real football players make those facial expressions? Nope. Current Status: Unimpressed and laughing at the stupid football player. Is there an option in the game for beating the **** out of players who make stupid faces? |

Although.... Not all football players wear long sleeves in snow, it gets rather hot when playing football. Constant running and rubbing up against larger or smaller man-beasts. |

Ohh, I get it. So you're saying they should put who wears longsleeves, and who doesnt, for every player in the league, into the database of the game. Damn, I mean, I would so want to spend my time doing that if I was a prorammer. Better yet? I love how nobody has thought that it could be a f*cking option in the game. |
Re: Madden on the 360

lol, so because McNabb sometimes* wears longsleeves, and Madden's TEASER pictures dont have him wearing them (when, most likely, he would be wearing them in the snowy conditions), it ruins it? you've GOT to be kidding me. ![]() NO SALE! ;) |
Re: Madden on the 360
Jeepnut's picture isn't even in the winter.....
|
Re: Madden on the 360
maybe the picture from EA was just a fluke snow storm in the middle of may or june and started up unexpectedly in the middle of the game and he's looking at the snow and making that face "grrrrr, i hate snow!"
:sneaky: seriously tho. its a taste of what the next consoles will do and your picking about sleves? |
Re: Madden on the 360
All I'm saying is if we can do photo realistic graphics, we can do players dressed appropriately for the weather. To me, someone dressed the same for a game in the sun in Arizona as a game in the snow in Green Bay is not realistic. So there! :p

Re: Madden on the 360
Wow, that's some amazing, real-time in-game screenshots. Oh wait, they're not.
I really don't care what the game looks like between plays, because I play a game, I don't sit back and watch it. Last time I checked, I had a zoomed-out view and a bunch of players on the field. But it's just a case of the next-gen renders. Look at how good Gran Turismo looked until it actually came out. Marketing is wonderful. |
Re: Madden on the 360
Those could very well be the In-game graphics, considering thats basically what the Xbox can put out for between play graphics, so if you thinkl of it like that, then it isn't too impressive. But what if it is in-game?

Animations, physics and lighting are the things that will make or break how good this game will look. Dont knock the "graphics" when we havent even seen them yet. |

That man looks too angry to be my lovable Donovan McNabb. He would be smiling, not scowling...
