Buying a DS

Ok I'm on a mission here. I really don't know what exactly to do here.

In 3 weeks, I will get me a Nintendo DS. The cheapest DS I can get in stores costs €135 (with coupons) (can someone change that to dollars? Should be around $170).
I could also import a new color from Japan, but then I won't get the Metroid demo (is it worth it??): US$ 189.90 (€147.29). http://www.lik-sang.com/news.php?artc=3591
Importing gives $30 extra shipping costs.

Now about the games, all I want right then is Polarium. If you can find anything cheaper than €32, please tell me.

Last thing I want is a carrying case. I can buy one from this Dutch store: http://www.dixons.nl/Store/productLi...0&startrange=0
Or from Lik-Sang (if I also import the DS): http://www.lik-sang.com/list.php?nav=over&category=276&
I want an original Nintendo bag, not some 3rd party thing!

Edit: I like this case: http://www.lik-sang.com/info.php?cat...ducts_id=6095&

So what would you do? Or do you have any other ideas? :) thanks

Re: Buying a DS

spring for a psp... lol jk...

i'd import a color DS cuz the two tone black & grey is ugly.

Re: Buying a DS

If you import, get the white one... that one just looks soo good...

As for the Metroid demo, you dont need it persay (sp?), but it really demonstrates the abilities of the DS

Re: Buying a DS

Yeah I was thinking about the white DS.

This blue case:

$235. €185.

MuGen 04-05-2005 12:42 PM

Re: Buying a DS

The white DS looks very sleak and nice, almost up to par with the PSP's glossy design.

Yeah.... definitely would go with importing a color. The black and grey is just the ugliest color scheme the DS has.

The white makes the DS look sexy.

Re: Buying a DS

personally, i would go with the PSP (I AM NOT A FANBOY!), i just don't like any games that nintendo has made in the past several years except the Metroid series. so meh...just me though. and with the video, pictures, and music capabilities...well, nuff said. :)

Re: Buying a DS

Well I would've gone out and said that (I did...) but He was contemplating about a DS and I didn't want to come off as a Fanboy.

So since you came out first...

Cany... you should definitely spring for a PSP and get Lumines and Mercury.

Re: Buying a DS

but he might like the games nintendo has on it. he should defiently TRY both, but he should get the one HE likes best.

Re: Buying a DS

NO PSP ALL THE WAYZLES!

Edit: just kidding...FYI

Re: Buying a DS

the color is probably worth it... that is awesome. the metroid prime demo is awesome, but short... you'll play it a few times, but you'll be fine without it

Re: Buying a DS

I bought a DS first then a PSP, but if I could only have one I'd pick the PSP. I didn't realize how high it scored on the awesome meter.

Anyway white sucks - it would show dirt way too easily.

The irony in that statement is so funny.

Considering a color DS w/ a case would be worth $235, as opposed to the PSP with it's extras costing $250...

I now realize any bashing of Sony's $250 price point is totally irrelevant now...

I mean, honestly Cany, if your willing to shell out $235 for a DS (mind you with no Metroid demo) and a case.... then you might as well pick up the better machine in PSP value pack.

Re: Buying a DS

....... You don't get it.

In Europe everything is 30% more expensive. So the PSP will be $300+ here. And then I have to import a game (that I don't even want).

Don't get me wrong, but I've just been looking forward to the DS, never to the PSP.

MuGen 04-05-2005 04:23 PM

Re: Buying a DS

Well thats okay then, but I just got bothered when someone would pay so much just for a different color.......("the color is probably worth it")

Canyarion 04-05-2005 04:28 PM

Re: Buying a DS

€185 for exactly what I want
vs
€145 for versions that I'm not totally happy with...

I'll consult my brother. :) We could also buy a 'normal' one and sell it when the white one comes out.

Edit: I just realised something. We can get our shipping money's worth when we also buy some exclusive Japanese stuff. For example my brother loves Final Fantasy merchandise. :D
Then a white DS is just as expensive as a normal one. :)

Re: Buying a DS

Suddenly I had this relevation that I don't want a DS. I don't need it, there's only 1 game that I would like to check out.
It's pretty much money.

I'd like to buy something that my girl likes as well, like a music CD of M2M (best of).

Did I mention that there will be M2M DS! coming in about 1 months time?

Re: Buying a DS

Yeah you shouldn't shell out money if all you want is one game. Be it DS or PSP.

Canyarion 04-06-2005 12:55 PM

Re: Buying a DS

If it was 1 year ago, I'd already have it. Right now I'm just too busy with other things...
I better get my kicks from my AGB, GCN and PC. When talking about games of course. :p

So eh..... forget this thread. But thanks for the help...

Canyarion 04-07-2005 12:39 PM

Re: Buying a DS

I can't have a daughter because I'm virgin. :)

Ok ok, fiancee it is then. :D

Re: Buying a DS

Hm, I usually like reviving old threads if they're still very relevant... but reading my posts from 5 years ago is a bit weird. :p (I can see that my English has improved. And that I'm single now.)

Anyway, I finally bought a DS! A DS Lite, black/red, €88 incl. shipping. It might be one of those refurbished ones.

It's extra cool because they never sold the black/red one in Europe. :)

magus113 04-14-2010 03:43 PM

Re: Buying a DS

Those were exclusive to GameStop which I'm pretty sure they don't have those in Europe. They had black and blue ones too iirc

Angrist 04-15-2010 03:27 AM

Re: Buying a DS

That might be correct, I know there's a blue/black one.
After I bought it, I realized my phone is in the same colors. :)

Re: Buying a DS

You revived a thread where the last post was about your virginity...

So how's that going?

Re: Buying a DS

He just bought a DS... My guess? Virgin.

Re: Buying a DS

:D

Hey as I've probably explained before, it's a conscious choice I make. I could have, but I didn't.

So... I hope to receive my DS today or tomorrow. I can't wait! Oh wait, I can.
