Granny mistakes superglue for eyedrops

Granny mistakes superglue for eyedrops

A grandmother ended up in hospital when she confused her eye drops with superglue.

Terry Horder, 78, reached for the medicated drops in her fridge but got the glue instead.

Nurses used vegetable oil to try to remove the glue which fused Mrs Horder's eyelashes together and seeped under the lids.

Mrs Horder, from Wurtulla, Australia, said: "There was a pool of glue against the eyeball itself but lucky it couldn't dry because of the water on the eye.

"They soaked my eyes for around five minutes and then tried to prise the lashes apart, which wasn't pleasant. But about 10 minutes later I was good as new."

This is a perfect example of why old people need to be shot.
Glue is a hell of a lot thicker than eyedrops. I mean get a clue already.

Did the lashes stay on?

On another grim note, I've seen people who've pried out all their eyelashes.

:retard:

Yeah, they had problems.

heh, it's not when old people put glue in their eyes that i worry about, it's when they are driving at you like a crazy maniac and killing innocent people cause they are too old to see what's going on....

old people dont need to be shot, they should just not be allowed to drive after 65.

Ouch...I'd be afraid that'd damage my vision.

Superglue should always be kept under the sink in the tool drawer.

my former boss's wife a couple years ago did the EXACT same thing. put superglue in her eye instead of eyedrops. she was in her mid 30's too. her eye was goofed up for a while, she just did the laser eye sergury last year to fix em.

Agreed. I could perfectly see my grandma doing something like that, and its not a funny thought.

That would suck.

In retrospect, It would make one helluva story to tell people.

A girl I know did that, except I think she used Nail Polish remover or something.

Personally, that is one reason I would stick to glasses if I had an eyesight problem. I don't trust contacts.

Hehehe...I found it mildly funny. I enjoy laughing at other people's expense. Besides, she's fine.

A few years ago, my dad, who was in his late 30's, accidently put this stuff called "Swimmers Ear" in his eye. It's stuff you use to dry the water out of your ears after you swim.

The bottle looked exactly the same as the eye drop bottle almost, and the drops are the same color and consistancy. It didn't feel too good though. :D The Swimmer's ear has alcohol and such in it.

The thing I'm wondering about is why the hell would her eyedrops and sugerglue be in the same place? Yes, we all keep a bottle of glue in our medicine cabinets.

You're joking right?

You do realize that males between the ages of 16 and 25 are the biggest cause of accidents BY FAR.

I'm not saying that there aren't a lot of old people driving that shouldn't be, but to say that people over 65 shouldn't be driving is just ignorant. Unless you were trying to be funny. :-o

I don't know about superglue. But I do know that certain medicines are supposed to be kept refrigerated, and the article did say that the eyedrops were prescription eyedrops.

well...the point is that the superglue was in the fridge!

Wouldn't the superglue have frozen, therefore making it impossiblee to get out of the tube?

Re: Granny mistakes superglue for eyedrops

Should be stored between about 40°F and 86°F.
