Re: Sales
Holy crap DQVIII, that thing is going to end up beating Halo 2 international sales.
|
Re: Sales
Well SONY had to be tight asses and only release 200,000 units....but in any case didn't sell all of them. We'll see how they do in U.S.
Dragon Quest VIII I have to pick it up!!! |
Re: Sales
Well, those numbers aren't too shocking. Noboyd expected the PSP to beat Nintendo in the handheld department. This is wear Nintendo excels. The PSP won't fail, just won't rape the DS.
|
Re: Sales
I love when a new Dragon Quest comes out and then see Japanese numbers a few weeks later. It's insane :eyes:
But its nice to see that Sony sold moderately, although not a sell-out like I'm guessing they wanted but still a good start. |
Re: Sales
basically they did sell out of it.
your never going to get an exact number. There was reports from japanese sales tracking companies that said over 170,000 on the first day. the numbers are going to bounce up and down and gunna be reported differently dependong on who did the tracking. same with DS. all you can get are rough estimates. |

The numbers for just one week don't seem all that different, though. I might (very likely) be wrong, I don't know any sales numbers from previous non-Nintendo handhelds, but I think Sony could be doing better than any previous contender. It coule be very possible that the PSP gains steam and knocks the DS down. Or Sony could feel Nintendo's wrath as so many other companies have (in the handheld department). Its too early to tell, really. Give it a year. *shrugs and walks away* |

Re: Sales
there will always be a rough numbers according to who reports it. Look at how they called this year's election.. so many channels with so many different numbers.
In any case, if Sony released more than 200,000 more people would've probably picked one up... instead of seeing that a lot of stores were sold out of them already. Yodabashi Camera the largest game store in the Shinjuku District sold out of the PSP in the first 3 hours. So... the numbers could be due to largely stores in different districts not carrying enough. i.e. More Nintendo fans in one district, has more PSP's available when another district full of Sony fans suffer with a store thats sold out... I dunno if any of you catch my drift... |

I think it's too early yet to say which system is goin to sale most...but I'm happy to see the DS kicking butt at the moment. :) And I can't wait for Dragon Quest VIII to come over here. :D |
Re: Sales

yea i know. but DS has passed thier main release cycle and is focusing on other parts, PSP is still in the release cycle focusing on that. i dunno. im just not really sure why thoes numbers should be news to anyone. lol |
Re: Sales
Hrm. Nintendo years of experiance in the handhelp dept. Yet still has crappy games.
Sony first Handheld that I know of.. Good game line up.. I think in the years to come nintendo had better step up the games they put out for the DS or Sony will take the market.. :) There will be fanboy riots I tell you riots.. But I mean there are few games for my SP that I would actually buy nowadays I mean I have all the metroids and goldensun, and tactics.... I don't want any kiddy games.. So I personally think that nintendo will go down eventually.. Might take a while but they will flop like they did in the console market.. They are the last to use the newer digital media.. However there handhelds are cutting edge of the handheld world. But when sony figures it out...... /end rant |

i never saw anyone who said that, not once. what everyone was saying was it would take a pretty big chunk out of nintendos share of the market, which it already has. who wins is a tossup. its anyones game at this point. i dont know how anyone could think it would dominate from the get go, later release, + limited numbers pretty much wrote it out in big enough letters that the blind could read it. Sony isnt nor wasnt going for dominance from the start. they're planning on winning the race, not get out to the quickest lead. |

And it takes the next leap in graphics (GB: NES/GBA: SNESish/DS: N64ish)... So take what Stu said, replace "Anything named gameboy ______" with "Any Nintendo handheld" and it's the same thing and just as relevant... I think the whole "It's not a gameboy, it's a DS!!!" thing is stupid... |

LMAO  thanks, GM. *flip_bird* at Link and Cany. does he get his minus rep now? |
Re: Sales

Hmm. Odd that none of the pictures in this feature from IGN, Amazon.com, or Nintendo's official website (lower left corner) do not have the GameBoy logo on the DS box. Has someone been modifying the images to make an invalid point? :nono: Quote:
First: What all does ROFFLE stand for? Second: -rep for me? Why? At least I remained honest in making my point. GM had to lower himself to lies and deceit to try and make yourself look better. Really, who deserves the better reputation? Quote:
Its not about whether the DS is supposed to be a different system from the GameBoy or if it really is, in "spirit," the new GameBoy or what. He was referring to the name and got it wrong. If he said "Any Nintendo handheld" it would be completely different (in the terms of what I'm talking about, not the argument of whether the DS is a GameBoy or not). *sigh* *shrugs and walks away* |

That is obviously another one of GM's Photoshop jobs.

For Nintendo, I thinks its safe to say that this is where a majority of there handhelds get sold. To parents looking for new Gameboys for their children and they don't know the difference. |
Re: Sales
Ginkasa, to disagree with my statements and proof is one thing, but to slander my name and ravage my reputation is wrong and will not be tolerated. Perhaps you're having trouble remembering your evil deeds? Allow me to refresh your memory:
![]() You have 24 hours to respond to this post with a public apology. In addition, you will neutralize the -reps you cast upon thee with +reps. If you do not follow these terms within the allotted time, I'll be taking my case to Staff Forum where you will be charged to the fullest extent on the accounts of flaming and reputation harassment. If found guilty, you will face a temporary banning or permanent banning. Don't think for a second that your long-time membership here will save you. No. Rep war. I have just as many -reps than he does. From him. Apologies shall not be given! However, I would like to call a truce based on that this is Reputation Awareness Month. *looks at third rep down* That should be a -rep  *shrugs and walks away* |
