Why so pissed? The fact that the game was being developed on Gamecube's hardware for so long means that GC will see the better version of the game.

Yeah, I was fairly sure that RE4 was contracted as exclusive.

IGN says it's official.

Or the official Japanese press release:

http://www.capcom.co.jp/ir/english/n...e/e041101.html

I really am frustrated that it's not GameCube exclusive. Not because I'm really partial towards Nintendo, but because it was stated repeatedly that it was exclusive. I felt the same way about Halo, which was supposed to be Macintosh exclusive until MS bought Bungie.

At any rate, I suppose I'll just have another version to pick from.

Haha, let the Playstation people have their inferior version. I don't care anymore.

Haha look at the PS2 release date: End of 2005! :p

But it's pretty sad that they had to announce that BEFORE the GCN release... now Nintendo might lose some new buyers that will wait for the PS2 version.

BTW they'll probably have the analog control, the side strafing etc. in the PS2 version. :baby:

lol, wouldnt they of been considered FIRST? when capcom went away from them to bring exclusive stuff to GC?
And nintendo's 'list' is getting mighty mighty short scratching all these people off.

Who really cares? no ones telling people to go buy the ps2 version. its not like they canceled your version. Capcom just came to thier senses. they gotta do what they gotta do. bringing titles exclusivly to GC and limiting thier range of audience is just silly when they could bring it to more platforms and reach a whole lot more people. expecially with the PS2. i woudlnt be suprised to see xbox get a port of it also. if you dont like the ps2 version, buy the GC one. or the other way around. No ones forcing you to buy the other.

be happy that its coming out on ps2 so what if it comes out later that could mean they add things made it different than the GC.  :bonk: :slap:

hahahahah, way to stick to your word Capcom. Seriously, they just preformed a royal screw job on Nintendo. But I guess we should've seen this coming, like remember when Viewtiful Joe and Killer 7 were Gamecube exclusive? So much for the Capcom 5.

Re: DAMN YOU CAPCOM!

Am I the only one who thinks Capcom first talked it over with Nintendo???? :hmm: Big companies like that don't just do that without careful discussion.

I saw Dawn of the Dead (remake) tonight, man that movie is sick. If you want to see where Capcom got its inspiration from, check it out....

Re: DAMN YOU CAPCOM!

I always thought it was pretty amazing that Nintendo managed to get this baby exclusive. I guess it really was too good to be true. This will hurt sales, no doubt, because this game probably wouldve been a system seller...it wont be now that people know they will be able to get it on their PS2 as well.

But you damn well know the PS2 version wont look near as good. No way in the world PS2 can render those kinds of graphics.

DarkMaster 11-01-2004 09:43 PM

Re: DAMN YOU CAPCOM!

Well there's no doubt the GCN version will be superior in graphics. However it's almost definite the PS2 version will receive extra crap like Viewtiful Joe for PS2. Ultimately this is a pretty shaddy move by Capcom, but from a business standpoint they'd really be stupid not to do it. Oh well.

Re: DAMN YOU CAPCOM!

This decision by Capcom doesn't really affect or bother me. The one that does is that they delayed DMC3 to Febuary. FEBUARY!!! :(

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if it couldn't pull off 20 fps.

But more realistically, 30 fps.

Re: DAMN YOU CAPCOM!

Is it just me who noticed the little dent in the upper-right of the Capcom logo, or the fact that they actually spelt "PlayStation" as "PlayStaion"?

And how can they say "million-seller latest title" when the game isn't even out yet?

I'm not really sure about it's authenticity, even though it's on the official site...

The trouble with a computer game company telling the public that they have exclusive rights to certain games is that you are never told how long for. A game will be advertised as an exclusive title but the fact of the matter is that the tearms of the contract often reveal that the exclusivity is only available for a certain time. Once this time expires the company is then free to do what they will with their game and releasing it on other consoles means a shed load more money. Everything comes down to how much cash one developer is prepared to throw at another in the business and corporate world that runs it all.

Titles being "exclusive" to certain consoles and then coming out on rival consoles months later has been going on for years. A few examples of this. Nintendo were meant to have the licence and exclusivity rights to Star Wars a couple of years back, now you get Star Wars games on all consoles.

Sony had exclusive rights to the GTA franchise but months later, bam they are released on the X-Box. San Andreas will move to Microsoft before long.

Always remember that when you are told 'This is an exclusive title' you should reply with, 'That's nice... how long for'

The only true exclusive titles for any console are first party developed games.

Think about all those people that dont have a Gamecube aswell, for them it will be great news, now they dont have to buy a whole new console just to play a game they like. If it's a great game it deserves to be shared does it not?

I see where you are coming from though, Nintendo have be making a lot of grave mistakes in the past few years. Loosing Rareware  for example... need I say more. Dont worry though dudes. Nintendo will have something up theis sleeves to shut all their nay sayers up for a while, they always do.

Jonbo298 11-04-2004 01:54 PM

Re: DAMN YOU CAPCOM!

Actually, Nintendo doesn't have the Star Wars license only a few years back. Factor 5 made the Rogue Squadron games exclusive to the N64/GC only...although I dont know if the rumors are true that Factor 5 was gonna bring all 3 to the XB.

The more I reflect on it, the more I see how selling Rareware was a good move for this generation at $300 million. I say this, because Kameo was just "delayed indefinitely" in the past couple of days. That means Nintendo missed out on Grabbed by the Ghoulies, and Conker: Live and Uncut for $300 million. Is there any more? They're still getting their Gameboy Advance games, thanks to THQ.

Canyarion 11-04-2004 04:11 PM

Re: DAMN YOU CAPCOM!

Yeah now that we look back on it, dumping Rareware was a great move. :D
Nintendo probably recognised the teams problems or something and decided to 'sell' them.

And Nintendo never had the exclusive rights for Star Wars games, but like Jonbo said. :p

What they realized was that Star Fox Adventures was a piece of crap that took over 5 years to make.

Re: DAMN YOU CAPCOM!

Rare was junk, because they got every gamers hopes up, and then took long enough for everyone to either lose interest, or be overexcited for a mediocre game. The only game I liked was Goldeneye

Re: DAMN YOU CAPCOM!

Well well, I have to say that their N64 days were supreme. Perfect Dark, Banjo-Kazooie, Golden Eye, Diddy Kong Racing....

Re: DAMN YOU CAPCOM!

Yeah, Rare hit its peak in the N64 days. Alot of good games from them but next gen has been a major downhill for them. Hopefully the "new" Conker game will be great. It's the reason I'm buying an Xbox but not really going to until the game is out.

you're buying an XBox solely because of a remake?

Amen.

Rare's best games were on the N64, and the only ones I really liked was Banjo-Kazooie, Banjo-Tooie, and Jet Force Gemini was alright.

I loved Conker on the N64 and after hearing they are doing a graphic overhaul of the SP mode, I'm getting it to play it over again but with alot better graphics. Multiplayer will be played here and there but it won't be as good for me as playing the funny SP all over again.

Am I the only one that really enjoyed Star fox Adventures? I mean sure it wasnt Zelda, but I still thought it was a very decent game. And the graphics were IMO the best that were done on the Gamecube up until that point. And its still one of the best looking games graphically on the Cube.

I didn't think it was that bad either... people just had such high expectations...

The problem with Star Fox Adentures is that they took a character out of context and put him into a completley different type of game. People like StarFox because it's about flying Arwings in tons of different adventures and missions. Some were 'free flying' levels and others were guided but it was pretty much always in an Arwing with the occasional tank or underwater craft. And it was fun.

So then they create SFA which is a fusion of a game once known as Dino Crisis and input characters from the SF world. The end result is a disappointment. Now Fox McClouyd is riding around helping Dinosaurs and stuff and befriending a triceratops. What's up with that? The correct way would've been to make new characters for this Dino Crisis game and leave the StarFox characters to their own game.

You are exactly right.

SF64 was one of my favorite games. Ever. This is why I am so excited about the one Namco is making. I think it will bring us back the good ol' star fox roots, back in the day when you could beat the game in a few tries, but you kept playing and playing and playing to get those high scores, hidden planets, and badges.

I just hope they dont overdo the "on foot" missions. Maybe one or two, but that's it. 90% of the game should take place in the arwing.
