Nicolas Cage shoots a girl in the chest (Kick-Ass Movie)
This is a scene from Kick Ass, actually looks like the most decent thing Cage has done in quite some time. Oh and I guess spoilers, but it doesnt really have any context or story , just a random scene.

Re: Nicolas Cage shoots a girl in the chest
Hmm, still skeptical. At this point in his career, I was hoping Nic Cage would be shooting himself in the face. Metaphorically, he's already done it with "Wicker Man" I guess.

Re: Nicolas Cage shoots a girl in the chest
The comic is silly ultra violent fun and the movie seems like a close adaptation so I'm pretty syked.
Speaking of Cage Purdy. |
Re: Nicolas Cage shoots a girl in the chest
Yeah, I was questioning when they said Nic Cage was in it but regardless I am so stoked on this

It all started at the ground zero after 9/11 with an invisible Christopher Walken absorbing lost souls as he talked as a collective because he's been absorbing souls for thousands of years and lost his identity in a vain search for power... I need to start writing that again. |
Re: Nicolas Cage shoots a girl in the chest
Shit, an invisible Christopher Walken? count me in.

Re: Nicolas Cage shoots a girl in the chest
I am so stealing Strangler's idea.

Back to Nick Cage, I like him in things like this (Kick-Ass). He plays slightly demented roles quite well and has a great sense for social satire. |

There's stealing and... getting inspiration. :sneaky:

Another new Kick-Ass trailer. |
Re: Nicolas Cage shoots a girl in the chest
Figured I'd bump this since closest we have to a Kick-Ass thread.
Just came back from checking out the movie, and it was good fun. It was one of the best comic book movies I've seen, and its full of life and is genuinely funny. I would say it features excessive language if you are against that. It also had a terrific climax, one of the best final fights ever. And loved the little cues to other comic book movies, the opening theme has hints of the SUperman theme, the driving theme has hints of the Batman theme, and the fighting theme has bits of Batman Begins. Nic Cage speaks like Adam West's Batman and the final line is straight from the original Batman movie. Some of the things were changed from the comic book, but to me actually made the movie better than the comics IMO. On the same hand, didn't read it all in a while so may change my mind. I say give the movie a watch. I will buy when it drops on Blu. :D |

I thoroughly enjoyed the film. From what I read of the comic synopsis, the movie changes fit much better. It also fit for a more awesome sequel if there is a sequel, but they could leave it the way it ended and it would be good. Either way. I just can't see Scott Pilgrim being that good. And also for those who don't know this yet... Ashton Kutcher, romantic comedy/action film. It's happening. Soon. lololololol! |

Then again the comic and screenplay were written at the same time so there's that. |
Re: Nicolas Cage shoots a girl in the chest (Kick-Ass Movie)
Yeah, I think my problem lies more with Mark Millar who just seems to think that everyone is a bastard in all his works.
I think softening the characters and the story made it a better movie overall. I mean would we have killed for Big Daddy if he had the origins and it was explained the same way as the comics? Reminds me since Moogle mentioned it, the FPS part was awesome. |

Loved it!

Re: Nicolas Cage shoots a girl in the chest (Kick-Ass Movie)
That movie was kick ass.
Never read the comic so I have no quarrels about which was better. |
Re: Nicolas Cage shoots a girl in the chest (Kick-Ass Movie)
So this movie is generating all kinds of Kick-Ass controversy.

Re: Nicolas Cage shoots a girl in the chest (Kick-Ass Movie)
Once again, I'm in camp Ebert.
I enjoyed the movie. I will buy the movie for my personal collection, but there is a lot of things wrong with the concept of the movie, which of course I blame on the source material. And as I said, the movie even manages to soften up the tone of the comic book, but really I remembered laughing at parts of the movie, when if you were told it outside of context is a bit morbid and depressing. You would probably think the people enjoying it were some type of monster. I would anyhow. |
Re: Nicolas Cage shoots a girl in the chest (Kick-Ass Movie)
I'd have to reread the book (since all I really remember well is the last issue) but I don't think it was a comedy. It was gritty, violent, and (at times comically) absurd. The movie made the costumes much more vibrant and kid friendly looking, was more upbeat, and removed a lot of the humanity and realism. Those aspects with the violence (which really wasn't that bad other than maybe the microwave scene) does seem like a PG-13 superhero movie that goes too far. Again, I just really wish they included Hit-Girl's comic book ending. We never really leave the fantastical world of the superhero at the end of the movie. Stays too upbeat and happy after all the death.

Re: Nicolas Cage shoots a girl in the chest (Kick-Ass Movie)
Well to be honest the movie slightly reminded me of Kill Bill with an 11 year old girl. In terms of the violence and such.

Re: Nicolas Cage shoots a girl in the chest (Kick-Ass Movie)
I don't know if my opinions could be honored probably, since I have yet to read the comic, but I'm sure I'll find my discrepancies with it when I do get around to it.
I loved sitting through it and watching it though, to be honest. I'll watch it again too, with no hesitation. |
