I believe the thread is in Happy Hour.

Yay for wings on the helmet.

But yeah, he does look awfully silly. I suppose it'll look better with the right lighting and such. Still a bit ill-fitting.

EDIT: Ah, it's a stuntman. Hopefully looks better on Evans.

Re: Captain America

Costumes like that always look silly pre-editing. Under lighting/filters/enhancements I'm sure it'll look great.

I'm pretty sure this scene is during the WW2 time period, so keep that in mind.

Re: Captain America

Super soldier serum is a well known antidiarrheal. But, I think he looks the part. Much more so than most other actors portraying superheroes. Reynolds looks nothing like Hal Jordon. Hugh Jackman is a foot taller than Wolverine is suppose to be. Etc Etc.

Why so serious?

He has a pretty generic Mid-American-middle-class-white-collar-top-notch-student-star-quarterback look to him.

Hehe, nice but he needs a bigger nose. :D

Edit: I only now notice something way bigger than Captain Planet: "Peter Jackson on The Hobbit." Must read!!!

BreakABone 10-29-2010 10:37 AM

Re: Captain America

Yeah Peter Jackson is on the Hobbit and it starts filming in Feb

I guess we never made a thread for that

That wouldn't make sense since technically you'd be talking about Iron Man and Thor and the Hulk, etc, etc.

But the general public (read: me) doesn't no that, does it?

Btw, what places Captain America above those other guys... including a Norse god?

He's a brilliant military tactician and a born leader. Thor just smashes shit with a hammer.

The general public wouldn't know that I guess, but we do have The Avengers coming out next summer and I assume Captain America's ending ties into the start of that movie.

Also, it would be weird to have something like Second/Third Avenger, to me at least implies that its a different person each time.

That sounds like "Third avenger" to me.

Captain China, ichi ban!
(Chinese and Japanese are going to kill me if they see that.)

They should have kept in in WWII. defs disappointed with that. or did they? i cant tell. those guys in the background looks stupid.

Teuthida 01-16-2011 12:29 PM

Re: Captain America

Still WWII. Those are Hydra agents I believe. Red Skull is Hitler's right hand man but also the head of the terrorist cell Hydra. I know in the recent toon they got rid of Nazis altogether and had Hydra stand in for them.

Re: Captain America

I hope they crank up the evil factor for this movie. So far Marvel villains have been relatable and not really despicable and gut wrenching awful, unlike Joker in The Dark Knight who was so twisted you didn't know what he wanted to is he had any ethical limits. Marvel has had an obsessed lawman/general for The Incredible Hulk and Iron Man 2, a war profiteer in Iron Man, and a good man driven insane by technology in Spiderman 2. The kill count, scope, and motives have Marvel villains have been very "safe".

The Red Skull is a FUCKING NAZI. He killed Jews and ground them up to flavor his breakfast cereal. I hope they make him frightening and dark, not not just "silver age comic" bad.

I thought the trailer looked pretty good. Amazing what they did with tranferring faces.

On a side note, it will be interesting to see how much international hating this movie receives because it is Captain America.

They should went with the traditional shield shape, more interesting than the circular one.

Pretty sure the only dude getting blown is this guy:

Hate to say it, but Hellboy got the Nazi stuff down way better than Captain America.
