Reputation Eval
Now that Survivor is over I can turn my attention to other things such as rolling out the new style, finding a replacement for Stu, upgrading the boards, and taking another look at reputation.
It's been a few months since we rolled out the reputation system and I wanted to get a feel for whether or not it's been working. If you have any opinions one way or another, now is the time to chime in. Below I've pasted the general rules as a refresher. I've also updated the ranks up to a rep of 3000. Every member has certain privileges which is based on their amount of reputation. Please note that your privileges are not based on the number of posts you’ve accumulated. The rank which appears under your name is the only thing that is post count dependent. In addition, you will gain 1 gold star for every 1000 posts up to 5000. It’s in your best interest to build your reputation as it determines what you’re actually able to do in the forums. There are four promotional groups which you can reach by having a specific level of reputation. P0 (registered user) P1 Bronze (500 reputation) P2 Silver (1000 reputation) P3 Gold (1500 reputation) P4 Platinum (2000 reputation) You gain 1 points of rep for every positive ratings. Ratings are made by clicking on the shout icon on the lower right corner of someone's post. If you receive 1 positives on 50 of your posts, that's 50 points of positive rep for you. This system will be tweaked based on how often people actually give ratings. Your initial rep is based on the number of posts you have. This is because the number of doubloons you had was roughly dependent on your post count. If you did not get your conversion yet speak to either me or Bond. I updated about 60 of you so far. You gain one green pip for every 10 rep and a bright green pip for every 20 rep. This is hardcoded and cannot be changed yet. I realize those current values don't work well with our rating system. Plus the max number of pips you can have now is 11. P0 Privileges Avatars Poll Voting Download attachements Post attachements Poll Posting View Who’s online 3 PM buddies 50 PM storage P1 Bronze Private Message Tracking Email to a friend 6 PM buddies 100 PM limit P2 Silver Deny read reciept Create/Lead user group on approval 9 PM buddies 150 PM limit P3 Gold Invisible mode Can Change user name Black Project access 12 PM buddies 200 PM P4 Platinum Custom Rank 250 PM 15 PM buddies see who left user rating |
Re: Reputation Eval
In addition, your amount of reputation-altering power is dependent on the following.
What reputation level shall new users receive upon registration? 10 Number of Reputation Ratings to Display Controls how many ratings to display in the user's control panel. 5 Administrator's Reputation Power 30 Register Date Factor 182 For every 182 number of days, users gain 1 point of reputation-altering power. Post Count Factor 1000 For ever 1000 posts, users gain 1 point of reputation-altering power. Reputation Point Factor 500 For every 500 reputation, users gain 1 point of reputation-altering power. Minimum Post Count 50 How many posts must a user have before his reputation hits count on others? Minimum Reputation Count 10 How much reputation must a user have before his reputation hits count on others? Daily Reputation Clicks Limit 100 How many reputation clicks can a user give over each 24 hour period? Reputation User Spread 1 How many different users must you give reputation to before you can hit the same person again? |
Re: Reputation Eval
is there anyway for us to know how much rep-altering points we have?

Re: Reputation Eval
Is Stu leaving or is he just retiring from his moderator position?
I think the reputation system is ok. The only thing I miss is that with doubloons we could give/receive different amounts for different things. Like if someone makes a good post or something, one +rep is fine but if someone does me a favor or makes me a banner or something, I'd like to give them a bigger prize, in the past I've just had to +rep them for a couple posts. Its good though. Oh also, can you post all the different reputation level messages in order, I'm just curious. Like some say, "has a reputation beyond repute". I'm just curious to know what they all are, and their order. |
Re: Reputation Eval
I'm personally not in favor of it, but I don't suppose I'm going to get a whole lot of voice on the matter. It's cool, but I think that limiting peoples functionality on the forums is lame (based on rep at least). It's just not an accurate system to tracking the 1337 people on the forums and rewarding them. As it is now, there are a lot of very well respected people on this board that are going to get the bad end of the deal. There are many people I have great respect for with lower rep than those who don't have my respect. Often just because they're not scoping out "post here for rep" threads (exaggerated obviously, but you get my point).
I guess if I want all of those fancy shmancy features I'll have to work to get a higher rep count. But sometimes it's the things that don't get posted that add to my view of a person. Really cool idea, but it sounds like a lot of work, and for the wrong reason. Edit: Quote:

Re: Reputation Eval
Oh, about moderating. Can I have mod powers in in the contest forum for the duration of the character battle?
|
Re: Reputation Eval
I like the system... more positive Rep is being dished out than negitive Rep, so it's cool. As for finding a replacement for Stu as a mod, if you want me to work again just say the word.

Re: Reputation Eval
I can change my name? Sweet. I'll have to consider that someday. Can't be the same ol' Rndm forever =¬Þ

Re: Reputation Eval
Will there be an opportunity to apply to be the replacement?
|
Re: Reputation Eval
oh yes, how do i change my user name? i havent figured it out yet
and the dubloon system was pretty cool too, i think i even liked it more then the rep system. but if they were to merge into one super rep-loon:hmm: system, that would be uber cool :p |
