Zelda: Spaceworld 2000

Hmm, decided to look at it for old time's sake.

I can honestly say it looks like crap now. WW was probably the better of the two choices.

I wouldnt say it looks like crap, but Im happy with how well Wind Waker turned out. That dosent mean I wouldnt like to see a more-realistic zelda in the future, though.

Miyamoto was very correct when he said that the more "toonish" style would make Link's moves more non-real. If they did keep a more real style, it wouldn't have all those messed up hits/jumps/etc....But I wouild like to see a more realistic Zelda in the future.

TheGame 05-03-2003 01:54 AM

Because that was just an FMV it's hard to compare. I say WW looks better than that, but it probably won't look better than what a more realistic Zeda would have been.

I still prefer the old one.

I'm a Jet Grind Radio fan!! The game that created Cel-Shading. So I love the new style.

Joeiss 05-03-2003 10:52 AM

Seeing that video again makes me wonder why the hell Nintendo decided to change the style.

fingersman 05-03-2003 12:37 PM

I would have still prefered the old one as well but meh.

GameKinG 05-03-2003 01:27 PM

I love TWW's style. But a cross between that FMV, the Oracle of Ages/Seasons commercial, and the SC2 link would be awsome as well.

DarkMaster 05-03-2003 01:32 PM

I like WW's cel-shaded style 100 times more than the realistic style of Zelda at Sapceworld 2000

Shadow_Link 05-03-2003 01:56 PM

Firstly, it wasn't Miyamoto's choice to change the art direction. As you all know, the Zelda game that was in production for the Cube was using this style. Secondly, that ISN'T FMV, that is all done in real time, and those character models were being used for the Zelda game before the change.

Lastly, it DOESN'T look crap. it still looks amazing. But the toon-shading is just as pleasing to the eye IMO, and I couldn't see TWW using any other graphical style. I think I haven't seen anything as graphically impressive as the Toon-shading in TWW in any game released.

That doesn't mean they couldn't have made a Zelda with the SW2000 look ;).

Neo 05-03-2003 04:42 PM

I'd rather have the realistic version over toonami.

I don't consider anything real time unless there is AI, and some sort of physics

I see where you're coming from; however, the scene was rendered in realtime on GameCube by Nintendo using the 6-12 million realtime polygon per second figure that Nintendo originally gave. So they did the render well within the bounds of the Gamecube's capabilities.

it doesn't look that bad. I don't know what all of you are colmplaining about!!! it looks great IMO
