Re: Last movies you saw
Wasn't there some story that Norton didn't even want to play in the movie but he had some kind of contract which basically made him? I think he had to play in 3 movies of that studio. But he had signed it long before he got famous. I can't say I feel sorry for him. :D

Re: Last movies you saw
I just saw Hancock last night. It was alright, coulde have been way better. Just barely worth the price of admission.

I think there was meant to be a LOT of symbolism, especially since it was a mostly dialog-less movie. Especially HAL / The emperor's "force shock" attack / tons of others. I wish I could see a list of all the references. |

Re: Last movies you saw
I watched Wanted in a theater last night. It tried to be too much like The Matrix. And a bit like Rocky and stuff. Didn't have too much originality, and the story was predictable. I give it a 5/10
Then I came home and watched Cloverfield. I had never watched Blair Witch, so even if it had been done before, I really liked the amateur camera shooting. And the action was pretty good as well. And the ending..well..that was like Lost :) I liked the move a lot though. 8/10 |
Re: Last movies you saw
Cloverfield
It really tried and failed bad. I liked the idea of the handy cam but the cameraman got on my nerves within 5 mins. The whole idea of a personal big monster movie seemed to have collapsed. And really the plot was just laughable. The ending however pissed me off more. |
Re: Last movies you saw
I really liked the style, actually. The ending was weird, I expected them to explain some stuff, but then I remembered that it was a J.J. Abrams movie so..
And when I first saw the trailers and stuff, I prayed that it wasn't a Godzilla movie. I was watching the movie and saw the monster and thought that it was him (her? it?) and thought "damn, not another Godzilla movie!". Then a little closer look revealed that it wasn't Godzilla, and the score in my head shot up 2 points. I don't think they meant to make a movie with a huge twisting plot. I think they wanted to make a monster movie and show it from a whole different angle. It's like the relationship between Warcraft III and World of Warcraft. Instead of seeing the big picture, and what the monster does to the city (Godzilla) you see how it affects individual lives. And I actually liked the cameraman and his narration. :) Oh, and I watched Meet Joe Black last night. Not a superb movie, but the story and romance was kinda sweet. Brad Pitt was awesome though. 6/10 |

You have to approach it not as a regular movie. The whole premise is that they found this camrea in a place thst used to be central park. It works for what it is. What would be a more appropiraite ending? You know that they bombed the crap out of it, possibly nucelar weapons, of coure they died. therefire the camera would remian there until it was found. I really dont see a problem with how it ended. CLOVER FIELD SPOILERS |

And I thought Cloverfield was good. I think people just had a hard time accepting the perspective of the film being shot by a character within the story from a little camcorder. But doing that really brings you into the story IMO. We're just so used to seeing a movie from the perspective of a professional-grade camera that's on big expensive tracks or tripods with the perfectly angled shot at all times. |
Re: Last movies you saw
It's a nice change not knowing what is happening through out the movie.
A nice change of perspective. It really is the kind of movie you need to see in theatres |
Re: Last movies you saw
I'm watching the HBO miniseries "John Adams" right now.
It's magnificent. |

Wanted.
Really good movie. I like the main character but his scream was grating. Don't go with females. They disected the movie pretty damn hard afterwards. |
Re: Last movies you saw
I watched 'Mean Girls' and 'Bring It On' a few nights ago with a friend. They were both enjoyable but I can't stomach happy endings anymore.
I also watched '21' a few nights before that. I thought it was funny that that in real life the main character was Asian but they change it to a white guy for the movie. |
Re: Last movies you saw
I watched Hancock last night. Liked it. Too lazy to write a review. 7/10

Re: Last movies you saw
Saw The Wackness last night after tickets to the sneak peak of Tropic Thunder sold out...and I'm incredibly glad I did. My friends who managed to get in to see TT, came out really disappointed, but this post is about The Wackness, so I'll leave that be.
The Wackness, for lack of a better word, was the Dopeness. This is mainly because of three things that I believe always make a movie great. 1) Ben Kingsley. Gandhi did it again! His portrayal of Mr. Dr. Jefferey Squires, a psychiatrist with a chronic addiction to all kinds of colorful pills, was fantabulous! Oscar worthy no doubt. 2) Coming of Age Story. This kinds of plots always get me good, and following Luke Shapiro as he tries to save his families home by selling copious amounts of ganja in the heart of New York while also falling in love with his Psychiatrists step-daughter in thoroughly enjoyable to say the least. 3) Soundtrack. Based in the 1994, the movie makes references to Notorious B.I.G's debut album "Ready to Die" and is chalk full of early 90s hip hop...and the good kind too like ATCQ and Nas. There is even a bit of David Bowie at the end haha. Check this flick out. Maybe its my love of these three things that kinda skew it into a positive light on my part, but the people I caught it with enjoyed it to. |
Re: Last movies you saw
Saw WALL E this morning. It was pretty damn funny. Good flick, despite all the crying babies.

thanks acebot for naming that movie. I had read about it a long time ago but forgot the title.
wall-e was good |
Re: Last movies you saw
I'm not gonna lie, I honestly think that little five minute Magician short was the best part of the movie.

Re: Last movies you saw
I just got back from seeing Hellboy II. It was -amazing-. Easily better than the first, which is saying something because I enjoyed the first one. Some of the coolest creatures and most interesting characters, along with a very good story line, with some really hilarious comic relief thrown in. It really felt like a comic book turned into a movie.
The only gripe I could possibly have about it were a few instances of sub-par acting (The Elf princess woman, usually). |
Re: Last movies you saw
I saw Wall-E this morning. 10/10. Adorable and a wonderful social commentary.

Re: Last movies you saw

I enjoyed. Even if it was Fun with Dick and Jane meets the OCeans |
Re: Last movies you saw
Yeah I didn't realize it had been in 3D until the scene where there is a spear right at the screen. Quite hilarious out of 3D.
He also seemed like he was going to get naked everytime he fought something |
Re: Last movies you saw
I tried watching No Country For Old Men, but it started with 2 graphical murders and probably the shooting of a deer, so I turned it off.
I went with Snakes on a Plane instead... a bit mindless, but entertaining. |

It was different. So over the top that it was unbelievable (and also darker and harder to see). I'd rather see snakes kill people than people kill people...

Re: Last movies you saw
I just saw Get Smart today. It's actually pretty good, I recommend it if you're tired of Dark Knight and find yourself at a theater.
|
Re: Last movies you saw
Weird, when I opened this thread and saw the Snakes on a Plane talk the theme song came on on my music player.
Neat |
Re: Last movies you saw
A few times I had a song stuck in my head, turned on the radio and heard that song.
Only happened 2 or 3 times though... |
