Not so much as programmed as overlooked. It looks like they keep a list of killstreak rewards for each player, and it isn't being cleared correctly for the emergency air drops.

My best guess, not knowing anything about their code base, is that it really wasn't. Modern game engines are "data-driven", which grossly oversimplified means instead of storing all these values directly in the code, they are stored in a file somewhere. This allows designers, who generally can't code, to change them all day long without bothering the programmers, and doesn't force the game to recompile.

Recently (around the time of the first patch), new Xbox 360 mod stuff has come out which broke the encryption on the disc and allowed access to the files. So some problems are glitches, some are modders with new tools. So they could simply modify the value stored in the file, and if they're the host and the game runs a client-server architecture, the hacked server could easily send the message to the client 360.

So it's really not far-fetched. Figure out what to modify in what file, and call it a day. They're also +XP modding too, where you jump straight to 10th prestige 70.

The bigger issue is what is Microsoft doing to detect and ban these people who are obviously playing with modded Xbox 360s on Live, and can it be fixed before the next big game comes out and it ruins that one too (ie. Halo: Reach)? There are entire sites dedicated to mods and glitches for COD4-2. I'm not going to give them any publicity, but you would cry if you saw the huge list of glitches for each level.

Me and Combine tried this out in free for all. You dont get any XP for doing it tho, nor does it count towards killstreak rewards challenges. Tho you can run around the map throwing Emergency Airdrops all over the place :lolz:

Well ran into a guy doing it today with an emergency airdrop. Good thing he was on my team. They need to patch this bad.

EDIT, just went 33 - 1 on Estate. I didnt want to spam emergency airdrops, but the other team were all 13 year old boys swearing and calling everyone the N word, so i feel good about my choice!

the worst is the care package glitch.

you have someone who has marathon, lightweight, and commando on, they run twice as fast and their knife range is like the Halo 3 sword.

I went 35-4 last night with only 3 care packages (which were all predators).

2 of the three predators were multi-kills (5 and 4 to end the game, respectively).
