The majority of the power core for both the yankees and the red wings are players not from their own system. The redwings may not be #1 in spending but they still go out and attempt to buy the cup every year, just like the yankees with the world series.

Both teams also tend to sign players who are near the very end of their career who only come to the team to win a cup. Robitaille and Chelios are good examples as are David Cone (a few years back) and Roger Celmmens.

Osgood leaves, get hasek, hasek retires, get CoJo.

Lose Tino Martinez to the cards, sign Giambi, David Cone gets too old, pick up Mike Mussina.

The rangers may try to be the yankees, but it won't change the fact that the Red Wings ARE hockey's yankees.

Phew! FLyers got lucky last night, Belfour gave up some weak goals thankfully..Now we have momentum going back home, we better use it while we can...Oh yeah, Darcy Tucker has become my most hated player. Did you see that FLOP? Totally ridiculous, that's the kind of stuff that ruins the integrity of the game of hockey.

Both of the goals that the Flyers got in regulation time were pretty cheap if you ask me... one was a bad angle, and the other deflected off of Belfour's skate... but I suppose that was his fault. I'm surprised the Leafs didn't get their ass kicked.. after 2 periods they only got SIX freakin shots. That's terrible. I see this series going to game 7, with the Leafs winning of course :)

I was very unimpressed with the fans, though. I didn't hear any GO LEAFS GO chants or cheers from hits... The crowd definately disappointed me last nite.. oh well!!

Darcy has been one of the most valuable players in the series thus far...people love calling him a diver because he plays a rough game and gets knocked down a lot because he's SMALL. It doesn't take much to take him down...but him being taken down and taking down others is his game, and not many do it better than him :)

Buffulo called up the wings GM out of the blue and started talking about verious things. cuz they know each other. then poped in the Question..... Hey, hasek is looking for a trade, you interested? why on gods green earth would wings NOT say hell yea to that?
And the Blues offered Hasek quite a deal more money.

one reason why i really respect yzerman, he doesnt care about the money as much as the game.

Also from your list above of the players. you left out a lot of players that have been with wings LONG time., and if your just mentioning the really good players. you missed some great rookies on thier team. seems to me you wanted to list the players that came later more then the ones that have been there a long time.

Detroit has had Yzerman, Shanahan, McCarty, Maltby, Lidstrom, Fedorov, among others have been in Detroit for a long while now. Look at the Rangers... Messier and Leetch. Richter too but he doesn't play right now. Detroit does what all rich teams do every year, just like Dallas, just like Colorado, just like St. Louis, they go out and get a big name guy to fill some spots. The Rangers just buy EVERYONE without any thought and spend insane amounts of money to get them. Holik $9 million?

They still operate their organizatoin the same way as the yankees. They go out and build their own dream team. You don't think that whole "Take less to play for the team" doesn't apply to the Yankees too? Jason Giambi could get way more than 8 million a year, Bernie williams could probably get more than 12 million a year (Though I wouldn't expect him to sign for more than 12 millon next time his contract is up, If he were a free agent this year, he could probably get 15 million) Look up and down the yankees line up, there's nobody making 20-25 million a year, but almost EVERYONE is right around 10 million.

The Rangers aren't Hockey's Yankees, the rangers are Hockey's Mets. Ironicly the mets have the second highest salary in baseball to the yankees, but they operate exactly like the Rangers, overpay a ton of players.

Alright, you got me there, but that's ONE example, but I'm trying to prove that the red wings are the yankees of hockey? How can you possibly say they're not? They go out and buy tons of superstars, they actively trade to help bolster their team, just like the yankees. They also tend to win a lot.

Federov, he's been offered money already. and turned it down cuz he wants more. and he's held out half a season before because he wants more money. he complains about it. and so on.

No, the one where the nearly just as small Amonte put on a mediocre hit and Tucker goes down and lays on the ice for about two minutes. He gets up, plays his next shift, and acts as if nothing at all happened to him. When I first saw him down on the ice, it looked like he had just been shot. I just don't like the over-exageration.

Tucker got an elbow in the jaw...I'll bet he overplayed it, but the next time you get an elbow in the jaw from a hockey player, I doubt you'd be doing cartwheels

over-exaggeration has been in every physical sport for YEARS. it hasn't ruined the integrity of any of them ( except for soccer/futbol, where when you get touched, you fall down and get taken off by a stretcher :lol: )

Okay, everybody, I mean everybody stays down longer than they have to when they get hit. Why? So it looks like the hit was very hard, and perhaps a penalty. Don't just isolate Tucker, because almost everybody is hockey does it.
