Re: 2011 NHL PLAYOFFS
What an on-side stretch by Kesler! Great finish by our bruiser. Great first game.
Pretty close to the exact time left that the last winning goal was scored at. Within 15 seconds=epic |

Re: 2011 NHL PLAYOFFS
That was crazy. We were all camping and listening to the game/playing beer pong. Such a good combination. Such a solid game. Sweet Jesus I'm pumped.

Re: 2011 NHL PLAYOFFS
It looks like Boston has Vancouver's number now. They probably could have won game 2 as well. Not looking good my friends, but it's only tied up, so who knows.

Re: 2011 NHL PLAYOFFS
Cup time is now.

Re: 2011 NHL PLAYOFFS
Wouldn't you rather win the cup in Vancouver? Or does it not matter?

We may have lost, but at least someone from Vancouver can score on the road

Re: 2011 NHL PLAYOFFS
I went down for game 5. Glad I decided not to pull an allnighter highwayfly for game 7.
I honestly don't mind the loss. Boston needed a cup. I want the nucks vs montreal/rangers/leafs/pitts for next year's final haha. And I want them to storm through teams other than nashville and san jose. More like Detroit, calgary, chicago. It'll happen. First canadian city to host the olympics and not win the cup the following season. |

NHL Offseason...
The Flyers trade BOTH Richards and Carter. Then sign Bryzgalov for 9 yrs/ 51 million. I expected maybe Carter to be traded, but both is a surprise. Interesting... |

I actually couldn't believe they traded Richards. Teams hardly (at least in my current knowledge) rarely trade captains away, because they're usually the face of a team, and a switch of captains usually happens gracefully, and not by gutting your top line. I can't wait until Bryzgalov undoubtedly flops massively due to the pressure of a fucking 9 year contract for 51 mil. I'm not saying he's a horrible goalie, but I mean, come on, the guy's only had 2 seasons with more than 30 wins. That doesn't strike me as a safe bet for a long-term contract, especially when they have up and coming prospects. That's got to be so disheartening for them. There goes their entire future with that team. |

You probably don't see any news about the Flyers like we do. Every interview Richards gave last year was lacking in any interest toward going out there and giving everything he had. Plus, this year he really didn't have any heart. The Flyers should have never made him captain when he first joined the team. He was too young for the job, and he really doesn't possess the right traits to be the leader of a team. Also, the C should have gone to Pronger when they acquired him. Don't get me wrong though, Richards is a very good player, but we have other players on the team that will excel above his current level in the next few years. The best all around player on the Flyers right now is Giroux, which I don't think I need to back up. He's always where he needs to be in the game, and his sense of where everybody is on the ice is amazing. Some of his assists were phenomenal this year, plus he can score many goals. We also have Briere who continues to be a great goal scorer, and the line he is on, Briere/Hartnell/Leino has the best chemistry on the team. There's also hope in the youngest player on the team out of the guys on the active roster from last year, James van Riemsdyk. He really came on in the playoffs and was the best offensive power on the team. Plus he has tremendous speed. The Flyers have plenty of depth below these guys even with the loss of Richards and Carter. Carter doesn't really do much but shoot the puck anyway, so even though we'll lose a good amount of goals, it'll open up the ice for more players to fill in. Also, they really were in need of a goaltender. It's been the downfall of the team for years. I can't even count how many goalies we've gone through. The organization knew it was the major problem with this team, so they went out and got the best goalie on the market today. We probably cleared enough cap space to fit him in with only the Carter trade, so everybody here in Philadelphia is still unsure why the also traded Richards, besides the fact that he has been lacking in what I mentioned before. There is possible news that they Flyers are about to do something big in the draft tonight, so maybe this will fill in the void from losing Carter and Richards. We also acquired three new players. Simmonds, Shen, and Voracek. I haven't looked into them much, but they're all young, and that seems to be a new direction for the team. Good goalie, new young prospects. We'll see what happens though. |
