Re: PSP: Emulation

Ok, new problem. Last night I turned off my PSP while playing a ROM, and today when I turned it on, it's stuck on that screen.

When I click the "Home" button, a screen pops up, but none of the buttons will let me select "yes" to get back to my desktop. And I can't move or do anything in the game, either. I'm stuck there. -_-

Edit: Nevermind, I fixed it. I had to remove the battery.

Note for every one else: Don't just turn your PSP off while playing a ROM.

i turn it off all the time. you just press home and left to use and press X.

However, if it is stuck you dont have to remove the battery, just completely turn off the PSP.

pressing that power button up and letting go sends it into Standby, holding up for 10 seconds or so turns it off completely.

Oh well, I didn't know that. I was scared for a few minutes becaues I couldn't get back to the home screen.

But it works fine now, and I've been playing a japanese SNES fire emblem game that's been translated into english...it's awesome.

I use sleep mode all the time. I usually go back to the ROM selection screen.

Other people's cards have corrupted, but mine hasn't yet. And I've done it plenty of times.

So, what games have you guys been playing lately?

I've been playing a lot of games that were only released in Japan but have been hacked and translated into English.

Right now this is what I'm playing:
1. Harvest Moon 2 (GBC)
2. Secret of Mana (SNES)
3. Front Mission (SNES)
4. Fire Emblem: Seisen No Keifu

So far I'm trying to find out how to get Genesis to save.... I can Save States in SNES9x but in Genesis I dunno how to do it.

I've been playing Sonic 3 and been wanting to continue from where I left off.....
Also Streets of Rage 3.

I'm fine w/ Chrono Trigger, it has a Save State...

Re: PSP: Emulation

I've tried playing LttP and the SNES Mario games, but from my experiances the SNES emu really only runs well enough for RPG and other slow paced games, so thats what I'm using it for until better versions come out...

Then it's time to platform.

Re: PSP: Emulation

for snes i've had better luck with all the games running better with the newest version of uo_snes9x instead of just snes9x. i got some platformers running pretty well with that at the moment.

Re: PSP: Emulation

I might've mentioned it before, but Claymates, as a platformer, works without any frameskipping or anything. It's hot. And I love Claymates. <3.

Re: PSP: Emulation

It appears as though some emulators are starting to be able to read games compressed in .zip format. That's pretty awesome, especially for us people on a 32 MB card.

But my question is, will there be a loss in quality of audio or video when playing a compressed game?

MuGen 07-06-2005 04:15 PM

Re: PSP: Emulation

ZIP'ing a filing or playing through a zip doesn't compress the quality. ZIP batches the files into an archive making one file, decreasing the file size a bunch. If the files and folders are expanded the overall file size increases too.

When a file is zipped up however, it doesn't lose any quality whatsoever. two 6 meg MP3s can be zipped up to 8 megs, and unzipped as 12megs and have it's same quality.

it's just the process of archiving all files together so the system recognizes it as only one item.
