"Original orchestrated music plays -- entirely different from the music in the publicly released trailers. It sounds Zelda-like, but it's nothing we've heard before. It could be part of the game's score. Naturally, it sounds great."

Dyne will be happy. ;) I will be happy as well.

Looks big, though you can't really tell if that's any bigger than it was in OoT.

No doubt. It still hasnt been beat really. There's no greater gaming experience out there. Its the crowning achievement for Nintendo, and gaming in general.

*Tries to start Zelda flame war*

The only problem is that it was beaten. 8 years before its existence when A Link to the Past came out. 2D Zelda just can't be surpassed. Never.

Re: The new Zelda

Will this game take on a more dark and serious atmosphere? Seems like it, Link just seems so much more mature in this one than he does in Wind Waker? He's always smiling and making cute little expressions in Wind Waker. I think this new adventure will be the 'dark ages' of the Legend of Zelda saga.

Re: The new Zelda

Haha. Truly awesome. It's actually really funny. I figured it was Zelda when I was seeing it live. But the instant I saw Link I looked up, threw my hands in the air and screamed "YES!!! OH GOD FINALLY!!!". To be sure, that's the largest outburst I've had in my life.

Canyarion 05-19-2004 04:29 AM

Re: The new Zelda

Hehe my reaction was almost the same.. only I saw the screenshots first so it wasn't as cool as it could have been. :D
Prett awesome movie with the croud BTW.
Notice how the internet trailer has different music??

Re: The new Zelda

Haha, it's the best when some guy yells, "OH MY GOD, OH ****!!!" Hilarious, but I probably would have been doing the same, then to to see Shiggy perfrom some sword play...Amazing.

Dark Samurai 05-19-2004 09:56 AM

Re: The new Zelda

I had the very same reaction when I saw it live. My hands were flailing in the air, as if I didnt seem to care. I was yelling " YES!!! IT ABOUT F*CKING TIME!!! NINTENDO R()()LZ!!!1one!" something like that. It was great.

Looking good. I can't watch the trailor or clip here, but the excitement seems to be mounting!

Yes...that clip never gets old. Ever. I think it was even more pants wettingly good then the one they showed at E3 2000, with the tech demo of Link Fightning Ganon.

Re: The new Zelda

Well, yeah. The SW2K demo was expected. After OoT and MM, there was no doubt in anyone's mind that the GCN Zelda game would be realistic and all.

This one was unexpected. Everybody was expecting another cel-shaded Zelda. Instead, we got realistic.

Surprise > No surprise

Maybe Shiggy went to the cel-shaded one first, so he could create this huge surprise for the game after it. Or maybe he didn't..

I think it was just Nintendo f*cking with us. Basically by releasing the cel-shaded game first, we developed a love/hate relationship for Nintendo because of the "kiddy" look. Then when the realistic one was shown, everyone went wild because Nintendo gave them what they wanted thus getting its hopes back. I still think Nintendo has been making both Wind Waker and WW2 at the same time but released the cel-shaded one first knowing we would be pissed and want a realistic zelda even more.

Its a conspiracy i say :p

Re: The new Zelda

While busy going about my life I went on Nintendo's website and saw something that stunned me. So here I am ready to impart my opinions.

Firstly, Hi everyone, how you doing? I am in London at the moment staying with my brother.

This game looks pretty damn good, you can even see individual links in the chainmail that Link wears under his green tunic. The attention to detail seems great.

It will be cool if this game is in fact a prequel to OoT, If anyone remembers, Link is told in OoT that his father went to fight in hylian wars and his mother fled to the lost woods then disappeared and left him there with the Deku Tree. Mabey you play as link's father who is in fact just another incarnation of Link (as Link in WW is a different incarnation from a different time as the one in say, MM) that would explain the fighting on horseback etc.

Dunno, either way this game looks the sh!t and I for one will be keeping a close eye on it.

Canyarion 05-23-2004 12:25 PM

Re: The new Zelda

RIC!!! :D How are you????? Payed the bill? :(

That's a pretty cool idea... Link's father.

It never says Link's father went to fight in the wars, only that his mom went to the Kokiri Forest to escape from the wars.

I doubt it'd be a prequel anyway. If this game is connected to any previous Zelda game at all, it is probably going to be either a sequel to the Wind Waker, or a game showing what happened to the OoT Link after MM.

Yeah I'd like to see what happened between OoT and TWW. :D

Link's father died while protecting the King of Hyrule. :)

When does it say that in the game? If its not in the game, its not canon and doesn't count.

Re: The new Zelda

Nintendo released a short comic about it... There the story was told. But of course, they could change it...

Ginkasa 05-27-2004 11:07 AM

Re: The new Zelda

*looks it up*

I see... Wasn't released here. Anyway....

Typically, that's not considered canon by those people who try to figure out the whole storyline of Zelda and such. Also, since it was made in Europe (first in Germany, then translated to Dutch) than the people in charge of this game most likely have never heard of it (or read it at least).

The chances of this game having any sort of relation to Link's father from OoT is very very slim.

Gamer 05-29-2004 02:50 PM

Re: The new Zelda

Here's my possible theory on the game's story. Maybe it takes place after MM and explains everything that creates the world in WW. Because we dont know what happens in the time from MM where the world floods over and all that is left are mountain peek islands. I think the game has to go back to classic zelda style, with the horse and bow and arrow and HYRULE, i want another REAL Zelda game.

Ginkasa 05-30-2004 02:18 AM

Re: The new Zelda

Its got be either a sequel to OoT/MM and prequel to WW show what heppsn in between, or a sequel to WW and show Link's and Zelda's search for a new Hyrule (or something that happens in that new Hyrule after it has been found).

I'm going for the latter. If you look at all the Zelda games, they seem to come in pairs. You had LoZ and then AoL was a straight sequel. Then came ALttP where LA showed what happened to Link after that. Then you have OoT and Link's search for Navi in MM. Then there are the Oracle games. And the Four Sword games.

Now we have WW....without a companion game. I would bet money this new game is a sequel to WW.
