I like it. And if you look hard, you'll see Joeiss' avatar in there. Nice job.

Either way, You've got to love this wallpaper. I made it myself (took quite awhile to ...... borrow all the images from amazon.com, then turn them all into .bmp then put them together in paint, then make a jpg.) I'm quite proud of it.

I hope there's at least one classic rock fan on these boards that can appreciate it.

Oh... Tommy... what a masterpiece.

Null 01-25-2003 03:46 PM

my new desktop.

pika should like this one. :p

GameMaster 01-25-2003 08:54 PM

Why are Linux users so bitter? ;)

Null 01-25-2003 09:18 PM

ahhh. tis a screen for the blind.

damn thoes icons are big. lol

GameMaster 01-25-2003 10:42 PM

I'm not blind, I just like big icons. :)

That, and I like being able to exercise my freedom of choice to have icons any size I want. Something not present on a significant other OS...

Null 01-25-2003 11:18 PM

which OS on that?

linux can. easy as pie.

Windows can. little tricky, but it can be done.

but majority of users dont want icons big like that. lol. tis for thoes old ladies who have the 1 inch thick glasses. lol ;)

GameMaster 01-25-2003 11:27 PM

Null, Null, Null...

Trapped in a world where freedom is not allowed and creativity is forbidden, poor guy.

;)

I'm not an old lady (although at one time I may have said that here) and I'm not blind. I don't wear glasses or contacts. Good day sir.

Null 01-25-2003 11:46 PM

lol since you need such big things to read.......

i think your slightly not knowing what im running on my sys man. I have more freedom than you. ;)

theres a reason tho why companies dont advertise.. "big giant ass icons" when they talk about thier OS tho. :)

You're running Linux. I don't believe you have more freedom though. Perhaps you'd like to tell me how you have more freedom? :)

*Announcer: Let the battle begin*

Touché :D

gekko 01-26-2003 12:30 AM

Null should like this one. I made it Unixy. Terminal, and OMG, whee! It's Gimp! :p

GameMaster 01-26-2003 12:37 AM

Ok gekko, I know you didn't go out and buy Keynote so I think you have some explaining to do. :D

*cough* He either used Limewire or Acquisition *cough*

gekko 01-26-2003 12:41 AM

I know, my friend attending the keynote, and got me one of the copies they handed out :sneaky:

basically because everything in linux is Open Source. ;P

And gekko, you have the blue version of that background wif the shrooms? me likes the blue one. i loves transparent windows too. hehehe

gekko 01-26-2003 01:34 AM

Yes, I have all the digital blasphemy images. I was just messing with my desktop once, and decided to put this one on instead of searching for the blue again.

Oh ya, this was the holiday version of the drawing. That's why I left it up. Only a month late :)

Cyrax9 01-26-2003 02:00 AM

Windoze... Yeah I'm still running my Good Ol' Win98 GUI on my Gateway 2000, my Alienware is in the shop (again) for a new PSW now (Whena re theyg onna fix this POS?), so I can't print my lame Desktop.

HOWEVER...

Once I aqquire enough revanue to finihs, I will BUILD a PC, I have a Non-Refundable copy of WIndows ME, which should be userful while learning Linux, which will be Dual-Booted with Eatheir Redhat Linux 8, or SuSE, I'm leaning more tworads RedHat though, and I'm going t pay the $70.00 at my local "Staples' for a Manual made out of this wonderful inventiona called "paper" that I can use if anything should go wrong, unlike Windoze which needs a 24/7 automated tech Support line and a 26 Volume "Manual" for each version of 'doze to be understood.

I love Linux, I can't afford a Mac, but I can make a WIntel PC into a LIntel PC very easily, without too much of a headache and unlike WIndoze Linux won't crash.

I wish I could get a Mac and run Linux on it, that'd bea dream come true.

*Muttters "Damn Gekko and his damn Linux Mac, and his Damn Plasma Screen and Import Cube!...Probably the low-end model!"*

Yes gekko, I'm jealous, I admitit, you beat me to Linux and Mac you lousy SOB, I think once I'm through with Windoze I'll used the CD as a frisbee ;)

gekko 01-26-2003 10:55 AM

You can run Linux on a PowerPC. But since Mac OS X is a unix OS, I just use that.

SuSE 8.1 !!!!! SuSE!!!!!!

hmmm, well, i love my SuSE, hehe, i love its little green lizard logo. :D

only other linux i've tried is Mandrake years ago. so i cant really compare to other linux distros. but i do recommend SuSE ;P

Blade Runner 01-26-2003 11:34 AM

Here is mine. I think i might change it to something a little less dreary.

Oh yeh, thats windows longhorn on my desktop, i haven't extracted yet. I'm gonna create a virtual partition using norton ghost first then install it on that. Looks nice methinks, except for the revamped-looking taskbar. Kind of tacky methinks.

Bond 01-26-2003 12:31 PM

Here's my desktop. :D

Perfect Stu 01-26-2003 12:35 PM

here's mine

Joeiss 01-26-2003 02:35 PM

That is a sweet pic, Stu.

I've heard good thing about RedHat and SuSE both, which is why I'm consdierng both Distyro's and not Just RedHat. Although I've Heard RedHat is better for begginers with Linux, so I'm looking more towards Redhat, and I even have a comparison chart stashed away soomewhere.

I'll cook up a Desktop theme once my comp is back, not just a background, but a full theme, coimplete with Sounds and Fonts to match, I can't say what it is yet, but you'll be suirpised most likley I have a few ideas brewing.

i cant stay for redhat. but from experience installing SuSE....

you want your Windows to be installed first........ i did SuSE first once. and had to play around with mounting the drives on it for a long time to get to the windows stuff.

later on i installed after windows and found SuSE auto setup all the windows drives for me. saves a LOT of head aches. and i can hop right into my windows files and use what i need right off the bat from Linux.

also be careful with the boot program. i've screwed up both OS's before and had to reinstall both. I prefer to make sure i have a boot disk for both just incase something goes wrong.

Rndm_Perfection 01-27-2003 12:32 PM

Here's my current one.

Rndm_Perfection 01-27-2003 12:54 PM
