Re: Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Reviews
personally. imo. i'd rather wait and get any game on PC over any console version. get much more for your money.
wish i waited and got GTA Vice City for PC. game looks a lot better, and theres downloads like new cars, weaps. stuff like that. |
My copy should be coming in a week or so. I can't wait to play this game!
Does anyone have any idea how long the game is? I've been hearing it's around as long as SoA:L (80 hours). |
Re: Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Reviews
It's probably about 40-80 hours, depending on what you do. You have a lot more choices than in SoA:L.

Got mine a few hours ago. I love it!
*POSSIBLE MINOR GAMEPLAY SPOILERS...LIKE...WHAT NOT TO DO OR...SOMETHING :hmm:* I'm up to the part in the sewers, with the Gamorreans. I just died in a battle with a bunch of them  I've decided to go through with the Light side this first time. So far I think I've done pretty good. The only parts where I think I faltered are: 1) I was going through an apartment complex, found a locked door, spliced the door, went inside, dug through the fooot lockers, and found out I just broke in and robbed from some family >_< 2) I walked into an open apartment and some chick told to me to get out or she'd shoot me. I didn't. We fought. I killed her. It didn't say anything about Dark points or anything so I don't know if those count or not  Anyway, I'm the sewers and short on Medpacs. I'm thinking about going back up and see if I can't buy any somewhere. *shrugs and walks away* |
Re: Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Reviews
***possible spoilers***
While I'm gone if you guys possibly get stuck on Rancor, you can just go solo mode and run past him or frag him with grenades to death. ***possible spoilers*** |
*BETTER SPOILERS THAN BOND'S*
Or you can use Mission's stealth mode and go up to the bones in the middle of the room. Than hit A like you're going to loot it. But instead of taking the items, hit X to go to the leave items mode. Leave the stink you got from the arm outside the door to the Rancor room. When that's done, the Rancor will eat the grenade which will explode and kill him instantly. No deaths, no wasted grenades (besides the one that was already there), and plenty of experience for you (lack of) effort. *ITS OKAY. THEY'RE DONE NOW... BUT ITS NOT LIKE THERE'S GOING TO BE ANYTHING AFTER THE SPOILERS OTHER THAN MY NORMAL......* .......*shrugs and walks away* |
Re: Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Reviews
I recently bought NCAA Football 2004 for PS2 and that game is completely owning me right now, so I'm gonna wait until payday next week before I purchase this gem. I've been working my ass off for 2 weeks, now...me want money
|
I knew this game would turn out great... C'mon, it's a Star Wars RPG being made by the folks who brought you Baldur's Gate... Unfortunately I don't have an Xbox... *sniffle*
I hope Fable lives up to it's potential too... |
Yeah I'm totally gonna wait for it come out on PC, I have no XBox... Hmm
It's a sad little system... Nothing on it interested me until this game and I'm only a tiny bit into Star Wars. Yeah so it's like spend 270 some dollars to get the XBOX and KOTOR, or wait for PC version... I'm waiting for PC version. Now if something else is released for XBox that grabs my attention before 10/4, then I'll be all for buying an Xbox. |

hey..this is koopa again....i havent been here in a loong time
uh well im pretty far into kotor, and ive gotta say its probably the best game ive played this year, if not one of the best of the last few years (yes, including Halo, Zelda:Wind Waker, Splinter Cell, Metroid Prime, Warcraft 3, and Battlefield 1942) The combat is really very innovative..at first glance its very action-ish...but once you play it and look for the turn based engine "beneath the hood" its definitely noticable. you can queue up moves in real time, or pause, choose moves, fight, pause, choose more moves, unpause, etc....depending on your stats and using a dice-rolling system found in dungeons and dragons, the engine determines hits, misses, and counter-attacks and animates them so fluidly you'd swear they weren't turn based. and thats not all...theres also the really cool dialogue system that actually affects things (unlike in zelda where they ask you to do something and you say no and they say "pleaseeee" until you agree) most things have really nice, nice, neutral, bad, and reallly bad choices....and not all are as clear as you might think for exampleeee...heres a VERY minor spoiler...theres a group of kids picking on an alien (some people are really racists..er ...alien-ist...prejudiced...) and so you can talk to them and either help the say "im not gonna get involved" or ask them to stop or tell the kids you'll murder them in cold blood if they dont stop, or help them beat up a poor old alien. another minor spoiler invovels a a combat situation in which you can possibly redeem a dark jedi...i chose to keep fighting, and i found out later that she could have joined my party...in addition, her best friend got realllly mad at me for forsaking her and not trying to turn her back to the light....so about 20 horus later i find her in a sith base and she wants to kill me still. graphics are okay...theyre great in combat, but in open areas they're just okay...although there are some nice money shots overlooking the sand dunes of tatooine, or having the sun behind yoru character in the tall grasses of dantooine. uh the music...is great...very star-wars ish....a few tunes ripped from the trilogy, but mostly original stuff that has obvious influence from john williams (i wonder if he wrote the score) and any star wars fan will be in heaven hearing the cracks and hisses of lightsabers. oh yeah and, for a game, the voice acting is really great. i particularly love the slightly homocidal assasin droid HK-47...some of his lines made me laugh out loud :) er...the story has loooots of nice influences from the trilogy...a fast ship, a wookie, a hint of some sort of dysfunctional romance, lots of bad guys in lots of armor that doesn't seem to work, and an evil empire with haughty, british accents. on an ironic note...and this is a minor spoiler................................when the sith are interrogating one of your party about where a jedi base is located, she lies says its on alderaan, when its really on dantooine....in the star wars trilogy, the imperials interrogate princess leia about the location of a hidden rebel base, which she lies about and says is on dantooine....but they imperials blow up alderaan...the star wars nerd inside me was grinning when i heard that. and theres an awesome plot twist that rivals the "Luke, I am your father." thing. this game is so addictive, i swear...i'll tell myself im gonna play for 10 more minutes, and when i glance at the clock an hour has gone by. games don't get much better than this...it might be a bit audacious to say this is the best rpg ever, but its certainly the best star wars rpg ever! :) (get it, cuz theres only two, and galaxies sucked... :) ) seriously.. buy this now...or if you must, wait for it on pc. |
