Hmm, that kind of sounds like Nintendo thinking to me, but the one thing i really want in the next consoles (all of them) is backward capability. I think that will be a big factor for me.

I read that too... but damn, that would mean only a 3 year life span for GCN! :(

wait...

;)

I hope it doesn't exactly go down that way though...

I may ctually understand what Shiggy meant, if I'm right, I'm not sure wetaher to be scared, or please, although atrip to Japan to play the game on Luanch would be nice, with that pipe-drea, over heres what I think Shiggy may have ment:

When "Windwaker" was first announced, NO SCREENSHOTS were allowed because they didn't want Sony or Microsoft to steal the idea of Cel-Shading on "Franchise" games, and not just "Ordinary" Cell-Shading but the total "idea" of facial expression and using a "Cartoony but not Anime-like" style with a semi-mature (in terms of storytelling oddly enough) plot.

Basically they didn't want a site liekmorus posting "Early" Dev shots which would give Sony and Microsoft the ability to say "Oh we ca do better" and post THEIR early "Dev Shots" looking beter than Zelda's and thus hurtting Nintendo's sales.

This is what happened to the Rumble Pack *Cough dual-shock cough* and what they feared might happen to Zelda, and it did, people ween't as interested in NINTENDO'S Rumble Featue and some HATED Windwaker before they even played it! *Cough FANBOY Cough*

So Shiggy, one of the most brilliant minds alive today, probably realized, "If we don't show it, theyc an't steal it, and if it's leaked out, it's being leaked from somewhere within' and that means I can personally fire the guy for his dishonroable actions." Thus, Shiggy didn't sow off the game, keeping it as close to him as the Wachoski Brother's kept "The Matrix" or George Lucas is keeping "Star Wars" with no "Early previews" or the like until it's ready.

Think about it, Sony took a LOT of ideas Nintendo had for the N64, including the Rumble Feature, the Anolog Stick, and probably some I can't remebr, this is also why the GCN was so tightly gaurded, if SOny had seen it, Nintendo would have lost most of it's advantages, sadly the game wasn't shown, but it's bete than showing it and having a "Bugged" SOny exec tape it enough to tell his Boss "Thisis what Nintendo;'s doing, we can do better by doing X game with Y Deiosgn and Z Element tkaen form Nintendo."

Basically, they're trying to guard their property, as for the more "Mature" mario, my guess is that he'll appeal to older fans, maybe a it less "Cartoony" in some ways, more realistic graphics, possibly co-op again with Luigi and maybe even a more "Frightening" Bowser or something like that, also another RPG with the Mario Franchise is in the works, a la Paper Mario, so w can only hope that they get this one right, and that Mario 128 is revealed soon enough to hold people over for Mario 256, my guess is Mario 128 will lead Directly into Mario 256 which will luanch with the GCN II and a "Director's Cut" of Mario 128, just a thought but probably a good one.

Also SMS was supposed to me Super Mario 64 2 I belive, so it stands to reason that the game was revamped for the GCN and Mario 128 was shelved for awhile.

As for why Shiggy gave this info to PLayboy Japan of all places, let's examine something: Minarou Arakwa belived that American and Japanese Kids were "No Different" as far as Video Games went when he first started developing the US' NES game console for it's NYC Test-Launch. Shiggy Probably belives that Japanese and American Guys are no different in this same way, they both like nude models (usually) and they'll both *probably* pay for smut on occasion, and now we have a generation of older gamers who are buying Porno Magazines, including, form what I gather via Gekko's attitude, Playboy! If the theory that people are alike holds true, a gaming-Otaku in Japan, who is a 20 year old guy is buyng the Japanese PLAYBOY Magazine and he sees an article with Shiggy's new mario game and a bunch fo hot chicks, what is he goiung to do? BUY it! He'l also be a bit more interested in Nintendo most likley, so it's helping sell a Porno Mag and a Nintendo game, don't evemn ask me how they'd manage to mkae a deal with each other, considering Nintendo hasn't attempted a GTA-Knock-off but I guess they figured that if Shiggy was interviewed in Playboy Japan, it'd help Nntendo, as a bunch of 20 year old guys over ther would buy the article, and admit it, most 20 year old guys over her would probably buy it as well if it was in english!

Now as for Mario 128 itself, good news there, bad news is one quesion leads to another, time to play ":Connec the Dots" and figure this one out.
