Was it 42 that had been discovered to be the "answer to the universe"?

Kitana85 06-07-2003 03:28 PM

It was the Answer to "Life, the Universe, and Everything". (Not just life) (A la Douglas Adams).

Yes, but what was the question?

I guess it helps to have a dad in the computer business. He didn't teach me the actual hand counting, but he taught me the numeric system.

Ohhhhh, duh. I'm retarded. Good old binary.

That was the question, I mean, arrgg, the question was:

"What's the answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything."

It didn't ask for the meaning of life, or the point of life or anything, just the answer:42.

By the way, how DO YOU count to 31 on one hand?
Place your hand on a table. Lifting your finger off the table gives a value of 0, placing it on the table adds the value of the finger.

Little finger - 1
Ring finger - 2
Middle finger - 4
Index finger - 8
Thumb - 16

With all down, you get 31. And you can also hit every number from 0 to 31.

Wrong. After receiving the answer, the omputr said that t didn't really understand the uestion, and that a bigger computer could, so the Earth was made (and run by mice) to find the question so that the answer made sense. The question was this:

What is 6 X 7?

God, I love that. :D

yeah, but thats the initial question... he didn't understand it, but that's not what the guy just asked, the question 42 came out to answer was as stated...
oh, Never mind,
6X7 is a cheap way to make sense out of a nonsensical concept.

I guess you didn't get the joke. The whole point is that to even contemplate questions like "what is the anwer to life, the universe and everything?" is pointless as its not even a real question with an understandable topic. Also, to ask computers philisophical questions is pointless as well, as philosophy is a solely human endeavor.

Stop worrying about the meaning to life, and just live it.
