Angrist, your mew is fine. It was from a gameshark originally unless your friend attended a special Nintendo event and was given one. Only pokemon to be worried about is Missingno and the 252 level pokemon on the right side of Cinnabar Island. Cool thing is Missingno actually showed up as a real pokemon when sent to pokemon stadium. Looks like a baby rhydon.

Of course, it you got it a high level, it's not going to be as strong as Pokémon that were raised to that level. But the fact that it's Mew should balance that out. :D
