The technology they're adding isn't appealing to me at all. Right now I'm kinda hoping Ps4 mauls this thing. And I hope the main complaints about Xbox One come from the Kinnect, online requirement, blocking of used games (assuming MS doesn't backpeddal) and the online subscription fees. I don't want Sony thinking its okay to add that stuff too

MS has been backpedaling and repedaling and backpedaling again. "Official" statements keep coming out that completely contradict what the last statement said.

I've noticed that lol. What that tells me is that they WANT to charge a fee for used games, but they don't like the negative press so they're trying to hide it and/or sugar coat it.

The latest is that Sony has been considering similar measures

It's pressures from major publishers I have to imagine

And this has been the biggest problem this week, MS has been unable to deliver a clear and concise message all week

If online isn't actually a requirement, then there would be no way to enforce fees on used games. This may just be word play on Sony's part though.

There is a very real possibility they'll have monthy subscription fees for online gaming, unfortunately that panned out very well for Microsoft. But there's still hope that it won't be required.

As for what I call 'Big Brother' technology (aka Kinnect).. something in your livingroom always watching and listening to you... I hope Sony stays far away from that.

Online isn't required for Xbox either.. you just need to check-in at times.. Sony can have a similar system.

Like if you sign onto PSN, it checks to make sure legit version of the game!

Anyhow, if you want to hear more of my thoughts, should check out this week's podcast. Nearly 2 hours of Xbox One talk

Q: Does Xbox One require an “always on” Internet connection?
A: No, it does not have to be always connected, but Xbox One does require a connection to the Internet. We’re designing Xbox One to be your all-in-one entertainment system that is connected to the cloud and always ready. We are also designing it so you can play games and watch Blu-ray movies and live TV if you lose your connection.
Actually it does require a connection, it just doesn't have to be always on. The assumption is that when you put a new game in, you'll be required to authenicate it online. After that is done, you'll no longer need to be connected. (which is how they could easilly enforce the fees on used games)

That's not to say Sony won't require it either, like I said before it could just be very clever word play on their part. But as it stands right now, it's confirmed the internet is required on the Xbox One.. and Sony is saying very long winded "no"s that don't close the door to the possibility that it's the same as Xbox One.

IGNs chart still lists the online requirement for Ps4 to No, and Xbox One to yes.

http://www.ign.com/wikis/xbox-one/PS...mparison_Chart

-EDIT-

Someone needs to ask both companies directly at E3 this question "If a customer brings home a new Ps4/XOne game, can they just put it in their system and play it without being connected to the internet? Or will the system require you to connect before allowing gameplay?"

Let's just wait and see how all the facts pan out. It's not like any of these consoles are going to be worth buying at launch. I had legitimately forgotten the Wii U was even released last November.

See, this is dumb. If I have to tell my system to turn itself on an use hand gestures to navigate to what I want it to do, this is a deal breaker for me. I simply don't like / dont understand the sudden craze of talking to our cars / electronics. I just want to press an on and off button like the old days.

I was very much more likely to purchase a PS4 than an Xbox One even before this announcement because Sony has better exclusives. But this is the nail in the coffin for me.

I will eventually be a PC / WIIU / PS4 purchaser this generation. My Current PC is still pretty strong in terms of gaming, and I think the next console I purchase will likely be a WiiU. PS4 will be a holiday 2014 purchase for me. But that all could change.

I sense a disaster coming for MS. As long as the system can't be operated without the Kinnect, people will continue complaining (me being one of them)

Re: Next Xbox to be Revealed May 21st

Well they have confirmed most of the details and some is as bad as expected while others are bad but could be worse

http://news.xbox.com/2013/06/main

Some highlights
-No loaning/renting games at launch. May look into it down the line
-Need to connect to their servers at least once every 24 hours to play games.
-Trade-ins allowed to a certain degree. Only through certain retailers, and only if the publishers allow it.
-Publishers may also charge a fee for buying a used game.
-Can only "lend" a physical game once. Once you do, it's removed from your account and you lose ownership. And must have been friends for 30 days.
-Can play any of your games on any Xbox One using your account. But need to check in every hour.
-Can share your account with up to 10 people... This is kind of vague

Think those are the highlights.

Re: Next Xbox to be Revealed May 21st

I'm willing to bet there will be some crazy restrictions on that last one. Like, you all have to be on the same Xbox family plan or something and have connected from the home xbox in the last 24 hours.

No thanks. I don't want to have to pull out a flow chart when I want to figure out how to lend a game or resell it.

Also, used games sells left up to the publisher. Might as well have disabled used game sales.

NeXtbox is looking like its going to be not very good, whichs begs the question, why do I have to like Halo so much!? :'(

Re: Next Xbox to be Revealed May 21st

The two really big MS exclusives, Gears of War and Halo, are both series that I'm just done with at this point. Those games will not sell me a console anymore.

Meanwhile Sony has Naughty dog in their pocket plus several JRPG developers that I like.

Well, that is some bullshit. This may be where the industry is moving though.
