Re: The Fourth Annual NFL Playoff Pickem’
There are going to be 3 really close games next week, and the New England game.
A Manning vs. Manning Super Bowl would be crazy...and 99% unlikely. |
Re: The Fourth Annual NFL Playoff Pickem’
I'm facing a dilemma here. I'm a native Minnesotan, but I now live in Madison, WI. Do I dare .....cheer..... for Green Bay? It would be so awkward. And I think perhaps a purple and gold lightning bolt may strike me down?

Re: The Fourth Annual NFL Playoff Pickem’
No.
You now live in the protective shield that is Packer Country. Welcome. :) |

That said, the Packers are my second favorite team (Dad + Grandad grew up in Wisconsin) so I'm fine with it. Plus, Madison is a super cool town. Spent a few days there over the years and I like it. |
Re: The Fourth Annual NFL Playoff Pickem’
Gekko is going to come here in a second and start bashing Madison... it's a nice city though, minus its skewed political views and wanting to protest anything and everything.
On a personal side note, I got to tour the Packer archives today. They have some amazing stuff in there. Telegrams from President Nixon to Lombardi. Lombardi's hand written speeches and plays. |
Re: The Fourth Annual NFL Playoff Pickem’
I hate the Packers because I am a Bear's fan...and I enjoyed the Bears ripping the Packers apart twice this season. Best two games of the year. But I also respect Favre a lot because he's just an amazing quarterback with great work ethic. The guy is old and he still goes out there and throws a hell of a game, so props to that. I like Tony Romo, I was fortunate enough to watch his first 5 games or so and he really grew on me as a rookie...but I hate the Cowboys and TO is a d-bag. If it came down to Packers Vs. Cowboys I would root for Green Bay. That also would be a very exciting game to watch...
I still think it would sweet if the Giants rallied and took the NFC. They are on a roll. What would be even sweeter is if the Colts took down the Pats...which could happen. Manning Vs. Manning... it would be quite a Super Bowl to remember. Of course, realistically, the Giants are gone next round, the Colts lose to New England in the Championship game, and life goes on. I wouldn't mind seeing the Giants beat Dallas though. |
Re: The Fourth Annual NFL Playoff Pickem’
If we beat San Diego this week, and New England beats Jax (which they will, I just hope the Jags beat them up a little), it will be a scenario that actually compares to last year's AFC Championship game. I don't think it will be as crazy for me as a fan, because last year was nuts. The difference between winning (beating NE in the playoffs, first Superbowl appearance in the Manning era, likely SB victory over Bears) and losing (NE wins 4th SB, Colts and Manning will never get past NE in the playoffs ever, chance that Colts never win a SB in this era, tons of negative media attention and pressure on the colts moving forward) was so incredibly huge.
This year, the only reason why it makes it close is because of the prospect of ruining a perfect season...I would love that the Patriots went 16-0, given they don't win the SB...that would be phenominal. In fact, I would prefer that to them going 15-1 and losing in the playoffs. More to lose. However, I'll get physically ill if they go 19-0...and trust me, I have the doctor's appointment ready for early February. |
Re: The Fourth Annual NFL Playoff Pickem’
It's looking as though Terrell Owens won't be able to play this week... so I think that gives the upward looking Giants a real chance against the slumping Cowboys.

Crap crap crap crap craaaaaaaaaap.

Re: The Fourth Annual NFL Playoff Pickem’
Actually, it's looking as though Owens will play against the Giants now.
|
Re: The Fourth Annual NFL Playoff Pickem’
Not really surprising...I mean, if you watched the Pats/Eagles Superbowl where he played a few weeks after breaking his leg, then it shouldn't be surprising. T.O might be a dick but he plays and plays hard.
