Anyone know what the little locks on the friends list mean?

Either me or my brother are on quite a bit. I still havent ever had that friend icon pop up and ive added all you guys to my friends list. Bad timing I guess.

Question: That suppoused "Friends icon," does it pop up whenever a friend come online? Or does it only pop up if a friend is online AND trying to connect by using friends? Because if it is the latter, no wonder ive never seen it come up...I know I never try to connect with friends because I just assume nobody is online.

It could've been me too. Every time I sit down on my afternoon breaks I do a friends search in hope of playing against one of you.

Just got Wi-Fi USB dongle. Now I'm trying to find people to play with. Had no luck with regional games or worldwide.

Are you sure? It usually takes a long time. Even when I go to play in the afternoon, it takes 5-10 minutes.

That's about all the details I have. I can't figure out how to open up the UDP, i'm guessing my school's residence internet stops it.
