Well... It's supposed to be a nice extra, like the DVD player on the PS2. But the PS2 sold better for that than for games. :p

It's a nice feature for those that have no MP3 player yet. But I'd rather spare battery life.

Well I meant in the first months of the PS2 life. :) Forgot to add that part. :p

8-10 hours for MP3?? I expected it to be much more... since the screen can be turned off.

Try 1-2 hours for my iPod.

Silly iPod. The battery is like non existant these days. I think you can actually buy batteries for it. I saw them on Ebay. But how do you open it?

i knew what you meant,, and still no. not really.

mp3 players get like 8 to 15 hours usually. so its to be expected that it gets around that.

ipod actually the metal part can just slide off. get something small and wedge it between the edge of the metal and the edge of the face and you can start to seperate it.

Just so we're all clear, the PSP is a media handheld, so to call it solely a gaming handheld in comparison to the DS would be unjustified. Since SONY clearly stated it to be a multimedia handheld... it wouldn't be WRONG for them to have the extra features it has.

So why bust on the PSP because it plays mp3's and people get excited over it? Truth be told, I drive so.. i dont need an mp3 player..... the one thing I'm excited about is the UMD movies..

True this.

I need to buy another iTrip. I had the iPod + iTrip in my pocket when I was drunk jumping on a swiss ball. The pin bent.

So heart breaking. Oh and I'll try replacing the battery then. Sweet!

Only no one will ever have something even close to 1000 songs on a PSP. :p

Remember that hybrids usually don't do that well.... But Sony can probably handle it.

edit: never-->ever

i wouldnt say never, how do you know no one will have that many songs on a psp? the memory sticks are just going to get bigger and bigger. i say eventually they will have one big enough to hold 1000, of course by then we'd already have 100 GB ipods. :D

I hope you really like Advent Children, then, because it's likely to be the only movie released on PSP. Unless they release Digimon episodes as well. IGN may be a bunch of PSP fanboys, but even they don't get excited about UMD movies. Maybe they realize that it's going to be about the most anemic movie playback ever conceived.

Re: IGN gets excited over playing MP3's

how about them PSP GAMES?

after filming my trip to Las Vegas early next year, a PSP will be great to display pics and videos from the vacation, as well as play games (its main function) and MP3's without having to take my digital videocamera everywhere.

Now the DS may have OMG BETTER BATTERY LIFE AND NONE OF THAT EXTRA CRAP, and that's fine. the PSP's multimedia aspect appeals to me more...I'd be more willing to pay more money for the better screen, the better graphics and the extra functions.

Isnt that all there is to it? If the system appeals to you, talk about it. Share anticipation. People prancing into threads just to point out the shortcomings of this or that is getting tired and old.
