RED

This was the action movie I wanted all summer. Big over the top setpieces, one liners, and just good natured fun.

You should watch American Beauty. It's titillating.

Hmm, not a bad movie, spambot.

Anyway, I watched Dawn of the Dead for the first time. Definitely a fun one! The acting is pretty bad, but you can't help but love the entire set-up of the film. The gore is laughable but still effective and there aren't many dull moments. I understand why it's highly regarded. Zombies in a mall will always be a great idea.

Saw RED. Quite awesome. Have to say the site of Helen Mirren with a sniper rifle is ridiculously awesome

Splice

There were a number of things that didn't work or were predictable but overall I enjoyed it. A few some charmingly cute scenes as well.

The Road
7/10 Disturbing view on an post-apocalyptic world.

Be Kind, Rewind
5/10 The movie 'remakes' are funny, but you hardly see any of those. Most of the movie is boring.

House (or Hausu)

Bizarre Japanese Fantasty/Horror. So incredible. This one has become some what of a cult classic recently and for good reason. It's super weird, partially because the director's 10-year-old daughter helped storyboard the film. No wonder it makes no sense...but in a great way. Some really interesting camera work and set design as well. Surely a new Halloween classic.

AHH! Where did you find the whole thing? I've seen the youtube clips, but I wasn't sure the full version was available anywhere...is it really tolerable beyond a few minutes??

Re: Last movies you saw

I think I got it from the pirate bay or isohunt. Let's just say it really tried my patience. There are some good bits but I think those are all on youtube. A lot of skits are just nonsensical conversations that drag and drag. It's more of a collection of art films than a movie. A couple tie into each other slightly or feature characters from other skits but it doesn't make them make any more sense. I did enjoy the 2nd half of the movie more though.

Primarily watched it so that I could finally understand this picture:

If anything it makes less sense now, if that's even possible.

Definitely my favorite part of the movie: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0W8fBsLYHcE

Freaked

That was a lot of fun. Some great costumes/makeup. Wish I knew about it when it came out. My younger self would have absolutely loved it. Still good.

Sex Drive

Sure, its a pretty by the books road trip movie, but the cast was good, it had some nice gags and it was a fun little movie.

Green Zone. 6/10.
Not much happens and the story is very predictable. Although Matt Damon was acting very well again, I think he was miscast for this role. People expect Jason Bourne when they see him, this was a huge step back.

I was thinking more along the lines of Shakespeare > Hollywood remake script-writers.

Ah this is one of those Shakespeare reinterpretations? Not bad, not bad. Which was the good other one, based on Romeo + Juliet? West Side Story I guess?

Bingo. Taming of the Shrew has inspired many teen-comedy-romance remakes.

The Sorcerer's Apprentice

Pretty fun movie with some great visuals. I liked that they tried to tie magic to science...it's just that they did it so poorly. The 10% of the brain myth again? Ugh. And your nervous system shooting electricity through a ring to manifest your thoughts in the real world or something like that.

Premonition 7/10
Good movie, different take on the time traveling genre.

Eagle Eye 8/10
Although the story was cliche and most of the stuff is way over the top, I was really surprised by this movie. Great watch.

The Vanishing.

Recommended to me through Netflix just browsing around. Pretty great. Kind of an early version to the many movies these days that don't tell their stories in chronological order. A rare film where you don't really expect the ending.

Think it was better than the comic. The end definitely was. Great visuals and loved the editing.

I saw this 10 years ago, so I didn't remember much. It's still very up-to-date though; I guess not much has changed since '98.

Just watched Diary of the Dead.

Decent zombie flick. Basically Cloverfield with zombies. Alot of the effects kind of sucked. Had alot of fantastically awesome moments though

Black Swan

Loved it. So intense and surprisingly scary. Somewhat ridiculous, but it really just goes for it. Natalie Portman is awesome in it. Certain to get an Oscar nod.
