Re: Re: Baseball League Championship Series

idon't blame just that one guy. Look at the cubs shortstop, he droped the ball on a standard play and plus while Bernie Mac was singing, Prior was sitting there doing nothing for about 20 min and with that cold, he just screwed himself in not warming up. It was a team effort that the cubs lost so don't blame just one simple thing, anyways once it's past the fence the fans are allowed to get the ball and nobody in that section noticed Alou was comming up becuase they were all looking at the ball...simple Mistake.....

Well i have only one thing to say to the Cubs:

Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

The Billy Goat Curse Lives!

Isn't that part of the experience?

Sure, on a line drive.

But that was a POP UP!

A FRIGGEN POP UP!

The guy's already had death threats, and the Rod Blagovoiach (IL's Gov) said something like "If that guy ever commits a crime in Illinois he's not getting a governors pardon"

I don't want him dead, I just want him to get a tattoo across his skull in about 17 different languages that reads:

"I'm the assclown that cost the Cubs the pennant in 2003"

--------
I had a group of friends, that were watching the game together (I wasn't with them) and in the 6th, with the score 1-0 cubs, they said "**** it, lets go down there" left for wrigley, cubs made it 2-0 when they were on the way. They parked 4 blocks away while they got down to Clark and Addison they hear it's 3-0, as they're walking down Clark towards Waveland they see the "3" go up.

They're not there two minutes.

"4"
"7"
"8"

My buddy said it was the worst night of his life. I don't doubt it.
-------------

This whole year, there's been two Kerry Wood's. One of them shows up and walks 6 guys in 5 innings, the other one is a Roger Clemmens in his prime. If we get the good Kerry, we can win it tonight.

But I still think we're ****ed.

Then again, This team had to go to 5 to beat atlanta, and didn't clinch the division until the second to last day of the season. Nothing has come easy for the 03 Cubs and the universe owes us one so maybe, just maybe.

Re: Re: Baseball League Championship Series

Nothing has come easier to the Marlins either. Actually when you look at it the Marlins had it harder the this year (even though the cubs have had it hard for the past years.)

But one factor that may not decide the game. The Marlins have no prussure on them. No one expected them to get this far so they have no expectation and no pressure on them. But the Cubs...all of Chicago and most of the nations is looking at their every move with a nasty eye.

But we'll see very soon.....

The Cubs just ****ing lost, no world series for them which just sucks.

Nothing more to say.

Shut up stonecutter! You would have done the exact same thing. The plays are meant to be done on the field, not in the stands, you can't blame the poor guy. And look, he's not the only one going for it.

Stonecutter 10-16-2003 04:32 PM

Re: Re: Baseball League Championship Series

Blow me, Ranzid.

I've sat that close before, in almost that exact same spot (I sat just a little closer to the bullpen) and my first conscious thought after I sat down was to make sure I didn't get to close to something that someone had a chance to catch, for either team. On a line drive it's instinct to get your hand/glove up if for no other reason than to protect yourself. On that play he had pleanty of time to look at the ball, and then NOTICE that there's a chance for alou to catch it.

I do feel sorry for the guy, because he shouldn't have to deal with death threats for what he did, but he's still a moron.

Well, look at what we have here, My Marlins, the ones in which the nation didn't care about and hated them and when crazy over the Cubs won. Now were are gonna go for the World Series and win it and show the world!!!!!

Wow, you're like the perfect fan! Wouldn't it be great if everybody was like you?

And anyways, the cubs couln't get the job done period. It's certainly not because of that missed catch. Now let's hope Boston win tonight and crush those damn marlins.

Re: Re: Re: Baseball League Championship Series

By the shore's of old Lake Michigan
Where the "hawk wind" blows so cold
An old Cub fan lay dying
In his midnight hour that tolled
Round his bed, his friends had all gathered
They knew his time was short
And on his head they put this bright blue cap
From his all-time favorite sport
He told them, "its late and its getting dark in here"
And I know its time to go
But before I leave the line-up
Boys, there's just one thing I'd like to know

Do they still play the blues in Chicago
When baseball season rolls around
When the snow melts away,
Do the Cubbies still play
In their ivy covered burial ground
When I was a boy they were my pride and joy
But now they only bring fatigue
To the home of the brave
The land of the free
And the doormat of the National League

Told his friends "You know the law of averages says:
Anything will happen that can."
That's what it says.
"But the last time the Cubs won a National League pennant
Was the year we dropped the bomb on Japan"
The Cubs made me a criminal
Sent me down a wayward path
They stole my youth from me
(that's the truth)
I'd forsake my teacher's
To go sit in the bleachers
In flagrant truancy

and then one thing led to another
and soon I'd discovered alcohol, gambling, dope
football, hockey, lacrosse, tennis
But what do you expect,
When you raise up a young boys hopes
And then just crush 'em like so many paper beer cups.

Year after year after year
after year, after year, after year, after year, after year
'Til those hopes are just so much popcorn
for the pigeons beneath the 'EL' tracks to eat
He said "You know I'll never see Wrigley Field, anymore
before my eternal rest
So if you have your pencils and your score cards ready,
and I'll read you my last request
He said, "Give me a double header funeral in Wrigley Field
On some sunny weekend day (no lights)
Have the organ play the National Anthem
and then a little "na, na, na, na, hey hey, hey, Goodbye"
Make six bullpen pitchers, carry my coffin
and six ground keepers clear my path
Have the umpires bark me out at every base
In all their holy wrath
Its a beautiful day for a funeral, Hey Ernie lets play two!
Somebody go get Jack Brickhouse to come back,
and conduct just one more interview
Have the Cubbies run right out into the middle of the field,
Have Keith Moreland drop a routine fly
Give everybody two bags of peanuts and a frosty malt
And I'll be ready to die

Build a big fire on home plate out of your Louisville Sluggers baseball bats,
And toss my coffin in
Let my ashes blow in a beautiful snow
From the prevailing 30 mile an hour south west wind
When my last remains go flying over the left field wall
Will bid the bleacher bums adieu
And I will come to my final resting place, out on Waveland Avenue

The dying man's friends told him to cut it out
They said stop it that's an awful shame
He whispered, "Don't Cry, we'll meet by and by near the Heavenly Hall of Fame
He said, "I've got season's tickets to watch the Angels now,
So its just what I'm going to do
He said, "but you the living, you're stuck here with the Cubs,
So its me that feels sorry for you!

And he said, "Ahh Play, play that lonesome losers tune,
That's the one I like the best
And he closed his eyes, and slipped away
What we got is the Dying Cub Fan's Last Request
And here it is

Do they still play the blues in Chicago
When baseball season rolls around
When the snow melts away,
Do the Cubbies still play
In their ivy covered burial ground
When I was a boy they were my pride and joy
But now they only bring fatigue
To the home of the brave
The land of the free
And the doormat of the National League

Did anybody catch the Red Sox fall victim the the 5-out, syndrome that the Cubs did? Grady Little came out and would have had the game won IF he took Pedro out, got Embree to face Matsui and end the inning, and Bring out Timlin in the 9th. Their bullpen has been lights out this October, and when they were needed the most, Little showed no faith. As soon as he walked back to the dugout alone, all I was thinking was, freefall.

They simply deserved to lose.

I'm telling you, it's a conspiracy~!

Now the 2 teams I didn't want to win the world series, are in the finals :(

I really, really, really couldn't bear to watch THAT after watching the Cubs collapse in game 6.

If there is a God, he surely hates me.

If there's any conspiracy, it's that the two teams made it to the semi-finals in the first place. MLB viewer ratings were super low lately... that is, until this post season.

Jason1 10-17-2003 07:57 PM

Okay, first off, this fan is putting up with so much ****, even though he didnt do anything that 90% of the other Idiot cub fans would have done. Blaming him for the cubs failure is absolute lunacy. Blame the whole team, or more likely the whole Cubs orginization for failing every year. Or, blame the damn goat, but dont blame that fan because its not his fault.

 <-------------Thats for Stonecutter :)

man that game was beautiful. I fell asleep when it was 5 to 2 and was kind of scared that the Red Sox would win. Then I found out what happened the next morning and went crazy. Thats why the Yankees are the Yankees

And you went to bed before the game was even over.

That's why the Yankee fans are the Yankee fans.

I am a Mets fan in Queens, and I am pisssed the Yankees made it in. Of course, this is civil war with the whole school district.

At least the Marlins won the first game. Lets hope they can keep it up

Honestly though, I really wouldn't mind seeing the Yankees rough up Josh Beckett tomorrow night.
