Wow, thats an overstatement if I ever heard one. No, the rebuilding of Iraq isn't going as smoothly as one would have hoped, but there are very few comparisons between Iraq and Vietnam. For one, we WON the Iraqi war. We never won the Vietnam war. Don't make mountains out of mole hills.

Sure MiniBush. Of course.
And this adds TONS of credibility to your argument:rolleyes:

Quote:

However, give the man some credit. He did not embark on this campaign simply to kill Iraqi citizens. Had he wanted to do that, we would have simply pressed the little red button on his desk... he wanted the oil.
I have posted many times why this argument is simplistic and silly, I won't bother doing it again. All it does is free you from the burden of thinking.

Quote:

And what is you Americans' problem with the French?
1) Clandestine oil deals between themselves and Iraq during the embargo which spurred their opposition of the war.
2) Buy backs of medicine and food from Iraq that were intended for the Iraqi people through the Oil for Food program.

Quote:

They stayed out of the war because the UN didn't approve of the wa!
You're probably going to say that they stayed out because they were selling things to Saddam, etc.
Lets see, they stayed out of the war because they were against removing a despotic dictator, or they stayed out because they were making a massive profit. Which one makes sense to you?

Besides, theres actually PROOF that France had those deals going. But I don't suppose actual proof means much when it doesn't back your beliefs.

Quote:

Well so was the USA. Before the Gulf War, Saddam was an US ally, against Iran. The US sent him weapons, etc, including the gas that he eventually used to kill thoudands of Iraqi Kurds.

Same as the story in Afghanistan with the Mudjhadeen.
Yes, but you can't look to the past with today's eyes. At the time Iraq was involved in a 10 year long war with Iran, who at the time were our biggest enemy as they had a American hostage fetish. Iraq was the lesser of two evils. And none of this has anything to do with whether or not the recent war was justified.

War isn't the ideal end to a conflict, it is sometimes necessary and many good things can result from it, as well as bad.

It was later discovered that America also gave IRAN weapons. They were paying tehm to kill eachother.

Socialism isn't a bad thing.

Canada is a somewhat socialist country, and in my opinion, we have a higher standard of living than US.

We have universal health care, where we don't have to mortgage our house if a hospital trip is required.

The point of my posting that was to simply bring some humour to this so called "Spin Zone".

We can do the same thing to our leader, who apparently doesn't speak either official language...

But the President of the United States seems to be embarking on a campaign of removing American's basic civil rights. The Patriot Act allows the FBI and CIA to spy on a citizen essentially.

Americans are typically misinformed about the current events of the world, if some even bother to turn on the TV and pay attention. (paraphrasing from Bill Maher)

Example: How many of you know of the Softwood Lumber trade disputes that are occurring between Canada and the United States?

I have plenty of non-personal things to criticize Bush about.

But I'll use one of your own arguments against you.

If the "damn demorcratic retards" have nothing better to do than "ridicule" Bush, why are you doing the same to them?

You are referring to Iran/Contra I take it. Wasn't that weapons for hostages?

Universal health care has its pros and cons. It's a good solution for Canada, but not necessarily every country.

And I've heard about the lumber dispute before. Probably because I read the newspaper rather than watching TV.

I try to avoid reading the newspaper when possible as the chemicals used to produce the ink are known to be hazordous in some cases to health.

Too Easy.

How about, instead of worrying about who Clinton ****s, and making a big deal out of it, why don't we look at the issues and how he is dealing with them?

Your second paragraph helped make up for that comment, but look both ways before crossing the street.
