Edmonton has by far the loudest and rowdiest fans. Toronto fans are more loyal but they just aren't as loud as those hick farmers in edmonton. Also, there's only what?, 17 000 people in skyreach?
|
Wow...great game but crappy result...I should have known, the Flyers do it to me every time.
|
well man. you came on here proclaiming them as the winners.
There are reasons why Hockey players and Fans alike are SUPERSTICIOUS AS HELL!!!! you jinxed thier ass's ;) |
Damn **** crap ****.
3-1 for st louis. Bah. Well, anehiem up 1-0.....detroit loses 3 in a row? |
The Flyers, Maple Leafs game was a really good game, but I guess since it was 2 OT's a goal was bound to come. It's crazy that those players can keep their stamnia out there for so long. Both teams had a chance to win, because they both played very well, but Toronto just got lucky, well it was a good goal, but I bet Checmanek was a little tired, but both teams were really good.

I was at the game, pal, and the Leafs definately outplayed the Flyers. Everyone was hitting...even Robert Reichel made someone his bitch  (he played awesome, btw) What a game! Easily one of the best I've ever seen, and possibly the best I've ever been to. I'll stick with my prediction: Leafs in 6 :) >Detroit down 3-0  |

Tuckers hit behind the net! WOW.
Great game... I love the Leafs, TO, and Canada.. lol... GO LEAFS GO |
Well for Flyers fans, I wouldn't be too confident that you could beat the Leafs (before game 3 even...), the Leafs are an awesome team. Flyers are good, but Toronto lives for the play-offs.
And about the Edmonton fans being the loudest, they are. The astmosphere in Edmonton during the play-offs is too good. But hick-farmers? I never even heard of Edmonton being referred to as a hick city before... Annnd I cannot believe that Anahiem is ahead of Detroit 3-0. That would have been the last thing I would have predicted, Ducks sweeping Detroit. |
They haven't swept them yet....
BUt i think they might! |

how many Edmonton playoff games have you been to? how many Toronto playoff games have you been to? |
Stu, as much as Toronto's a crazy rink during the playoffs, Edmonton just has the loudest fans. I'm not saying they're the smartest fans(knowing when to cheer and stuff) but they are the loudest. Canucks fans are retarded. They just don't know how to give their team momentum.
|
Stu, everyone says it. All the players (from opposing teams even) say it, all the broadcasters (CBC broadcasters) say it, referees have said it before, and most non-hockey fans agree, Edmonton fans in the play-offs are the loudest. Just from seeing the game against Philly in Toronto on CBC I can say without much doubt that Toronto isn't as loud as Edmonton was in their first home game against Dallas this series.
|
fair enough, man....I wasn't arguing with you
but you still didn't answer my question :p |
OHHHHHH SNAP
Redwing's gonna get swept out of the first round! Well, the hawks won't win anything for a long time, but this game is going to be fun to watch. I can't wait to see hockey's Yankees get blown out of the (Arrowhead) Pond tonight. AFLAAAAAAAAAAAAK!!!!!!!!1one!!!1 |

And Stonecutter, I wouldn't say that Detroit is hockey's Yankees if you mean that they spend tons of money and are always ahead of everyone, but maybe you just meant they're always on top of the league, I dunno. I'd say the Rangers would be hockey's Yankees, but they never win, so... Yeah Rangers suck. |
SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!

Going through the rosters, lets take a look at the Shoe in/On the bubble hall of famers and for the yankees some of the really good young players. Sergei Fedorov* Igor Larionov Steve Yzerman* Luc Robitaille Brendan Shanahan Brett Hull Chris Chelios Nicklas Lidstrom* Curtis Joeseph Roger Clemmens David Wells Mike Mussina Andy Pettitte* Mariano Rivera* Derek Jeter* Alfonso Soriano* Jason Giambi Bernie Williams* The players with the *'s are the only players who have played their entire careers with their team, and that's still not a very good measure because the Russians on the Red Wings were bought out by detroit after the fall of the soviet union, most of them would still be playing in "home country" |
still unclear of what you mean by hockeys yankees tho. you need to clear that up.
Chris is right tho about the money thing. Rangers have the highest salary or most spending or something. i forget what it is exactly but i know its been said a few times recently. rangers spend more. detroit is Number 2 in that catagory. Also. cant say im upset about my wings. i support them win or loss. but its hard to get upset when you already won the cup the year before. colorado fans or devil fans maybe could agree on that one. you need that hunger to want the cup again to try and win it. thats why repeats are so hard. Go Wings. :) we be back next year. *wonders if he shouldnt of been making fun of flyers innability to score last year tho. :D * hehe |
Holy crap. That Leafs-Flyers game last night was UNREAL. Bad break that the Leafs lost, though :(
This is one of the better playoff series in recent history... GO LEAFS GO |
The majority of the power core for both the yankees and the red wings are players not from their own system. The redwings may not be #1 in spending but they still go out and attempt to buy the cup every year, just like the yankees with the world series.
Both teams also tend to sign players who are near the very end of their career who only come to the team to win a cup. Robitaille and Chelios are good examples as are David Cone (a few years back) and Roger Celmmens. Osgood leaves, get hasek, hasek retires, get CoJo. Lose Tino Martinez to the cards, sign Giambi, David Cone gets too old, pick up Mike Mussina. The rangers may try to be the yankees, but it won't change the fact that the Red Wings ARE hockey's yankees. |
Phew! FLyers got lucky last night, Belfour gave up some weak goals thankfully..Now we have momentum going back home, we better use it while we can...Oh yeah, Darcy Tucker has become my most hated player. Did you see that FLOP? Totally ridiculous, that's the kind of stuff that ruins the integrity of the game of hockey.
|
Both of the goals that the Flyers got in regulation time were pretty cheap if you ask me... one was a bad angle, and the other deflected off of Belfour's skate... but I suppose that was his fault. I'm surprised the Leafs didn't get their ass kicked.. after 2 periods they only got SIX freakin shots. That's terrible. I see this series going to game 7, with the Leafs winning of course :)
|
Tucker rocks... I think you are just jealous of him.
;) I was very unimpressed with the fans, though. I didn't hear any GO LEAFS GO chants or cheers from hits... The crowd definately disappointed me last nite.. oh well!! |
If Tucker has another fan hating him, he's doing his job :D
What 'flop' are you talking about, Germy? When the 240+lb Brashear pushed Tucker's 185lb frame to the ice? Darcy has been one of the most valuable players in the series thus far...people love calling him a diver because he plays a rough game and gets knocked down a lot because he's SMALL. It doesn't take much to take him down...but him being taken down and taking down others is his game, and not many do it better than him :) |

 so you find out the facts arent what you think so you change what you think to fit better? come on man. your facts arent all there. Wings arent going out and dishing as much as possible to get every player they can. you know many of thoes players.... Cujo, Robitialle, Hull. Actually took PAY CUTS to be on the redwings because its where they wanted to go. Toronto offered Cujo more money to stay then the wings offered him. and hasek came BEFORE osgood left.. Wings wernt even planning on looking for a goalie. Buffulo called up the wings GM out of the blue and started talking about verious things. cuz they know each other. then poped in the Question..... Hey, hasek is looking for a trade, you interested? why on gods green earth would wings NOT say hell yea to that? And the Blues offered Hasek quite a deal more money. Osgood left because he didnt want to be the backup goalie. When Wings went looking for a new goalie to replace Hasek, they were determined NOT to spend any more then they were paying Hasek. Some of the wings Players like Yzerman actually offered to take pay cuts to get Hull in. one reason why i really respect yzerman, he doesnt care about the money as much as the game. Not to say the Wings dont have thier money grabbers. AKA Federov. whom i dunno is truly going to be there next year. But point being. Wings arent going out every time and buying as many players as they can with thier money alone. these players wanted to come. not to say the wings havnt done it to some players, but so have many other teams. i dont quite think your analogy of wings and yankees is all that great. Also from your list above of the players. you left out a lot of players that have been with wings LONG time., and if your just mentioning the really good players. you missed some great rookies on thier team. seems to me you wanted to list the players that came later more then the ones that have been there a long time. |
Quote:
i dont think it was a flop. he got hit across the jaw. his whole body prolly went numb for a sec. he might of prolonged it a bit, and got his team a couple minutes of rest out of it. cuz he seemed awful perky a second later. but dont think it was a flop. |
The Rangers are just like the Yankees, only difference is that they never win.
Detroit has had Yzerman, Shanahan, McCarty, Maltby, Lidstrom, Fedorov, among others have been in Detroit for a long while now. Look at the Rangers... Messier and Leetch. Richter too but he doesn't play right now. Detroit does what all rich teams do every year, just like Dallas, just like Colorado, just like St. Louis, they go out and get a big name guy to fill some spots. The Rangers just buy EVERYONE without any thought and spend insane amounts of money to get them. Holik $9 million? Oh yeah, and I forgot to say... I'm going to game 6 of Oilers/Stars at Edmonton, hopefully Oilers can win tonight and make it possible to knock out Dallas in game 6. Wooo! |

The Rangers aren't Hockey's Yankees, the rangers are Hockey's Mets. Ironicly the mets have the second highest salary in baseball to the yankees, but they operate exactly like the Rangers, overpay a ton of players. and hasek came BEFORE osgood left.. Alright, you got me there, but that's ONE example, but I'm trying to prove that the red wings are the yankees of hockey? How can you possibly say they're not? They go out and buy tons of superstars, they actively trade to help bolster their team, just like the yankees. They also tend to win a lot. Ok Here. Name baseball team that the Red Wings parallel more accurately than the Yankees Find a farly successfull baseball team that that's near the top of their respective league in spending and is active in making player-personal moves. |
Null, why are being so defensive? What's wrong with being 'the Yankees of hockey'?
and I liked how you said Yzerman doesn't care about money as much as the game. I mean I would agree with that...it's just funny because he's still being paid millions per year ;) (same goes for any star) |
Quote:
i think more then anything the Wings kept offering him more money to stay each year. rather then him requesting it. and like i said he offered to cut his pay to make his team better. Federov, he's been offered money already. and turned it down cuz he wants more. and he's held out half a season before because he wants more money. he complains about it. and so on. |
Quote:
im not saying thier not similar. or dont operate similar. most teams do, and or would if they could. I'm saying as far as buying players and using thier money to get more players. Rangers are more like yankees in that respect. Wings have a lot more players that have been with them for a long time and or thier whole carreer then Rangers do. just because rangers dont spend thier money wisely or dont play well doesnt mean thier less similar. |

sorta like how Roenick got hit, looked for the ref to raise his arm, then went down...then he got up soon afterwards and got in Tucker's face? Tucker got an elbow in the jaw...I'll bet he overplayed it, but the next time you get an elbow in the jaw from a hockey player, I doubt you'd be doing cartwheels over-exaggeration has been in every physical sport for YEARS. it hasn't ruined the integrity of any of them ( except for soccer/futbol, where when you get touched, you fall down and get taken off by a stretcher  ) |
Okay, everybody, I mean everybody stays down longer than they have to when they get hit. Why? So it looks like the hit was very hard, and perhaps a penalty. Don't just isolate Tucker, because almost everybody is hockey does it.
|
Well, not EVERYONE does it and some guys do it more frequently or obviously than others. You won't see Yzerman flopping around for one.
On the subject of divers, the 2002 Russian Junior team that won gold were the biggest bunch of divers I've ever seen. Russia sucks. |
Can't talk about taking dives without mentioning the king of the dive
Dino Ciccerelli DI-NO SUCKS DI-NO SUCKS DI-NO SUCKS |
Dino dont play anymore does he?
man, havnt seen him in years. i miss him. hehehe |
Dino was the man... lol...
|
Stonecutter, let me guess, you don't like the Red Wings?
Right now I see Forsberg as a huge diver. I just hate him. |
