ok, so i'm not too smart for my own good *phew, i wuz gettin worried there for a sec ;)* Anyways.. i dun know wut one to choose! i dun wanna loose health or magick... i guess insanity wouldn't be too hard to manage... as long as i hacked away at everything i saw :D... Do you gain back sanity if u just hurt em and run away or do u have to kill the little bastards?

Well first you chop off some body parts.. or blow them off in the ase of using a gun... then they fall on the ground and you have to press the B button and it finishes them.. and once you finish them.. you get your sanity back

So the answer to your question is no...

Night Stormer 06-27-2002 04:30 PM

does that gun she has, have unlimited amo?

gekko 06-27-2002 04:43 PM

No.

quiet mike 06-27-2002 10:27 PM

Sanity is very hard to regain since some enemies take more of your sanity meter than you get back after you finsih them. I can barely keep it in the 3/4 of the bottom up to 1/2. And I'm on the red path. Also I haven't found any spells that help you gain sanity back.

gekko 06-27-2002 11:59 PM

Recover using the green alignment. Or purple, which does health too.

Mushlafa 06-28-2002 12:05 AM

my friends sanity hardly ever gets below half.. he kills every guy he sees and never ever just runs past someone... thats not fun.. IMO :p

We're playin as the monk now

Plastic0006 06-28-2002 06:27 PM

hehe i chose green

I really wanna buy this game now I rented it and got the blockbuster game pass I'm only to Karim's Level and then

*Spoiler Alert dont read this unless you've passed chapter 4*

The three head guy made me lose my sanity and my head and everything came off and i came back then right when i came back he just started killing me and I died... :(

*end of spoiler continue to read*

That is really weird and it was driving me crazy in real life so i took a break from the game to see what everyone else was saying about it. Well now i need a favor can i have 50 bucks nebody??

Well newayz this game is way scarier than resident evil but alot easier if you run up and attack the head first then whack off the arms of everything you see.

Then do your finishing move which is sweet.

I 4got to ask how many chapters are there?

quiet mike 06-28-2002 10:45 PM

Well since there are 12 playable characters I'm guessing there are 11 chapters unless there are repeats of characters. Also since you barely started you haven't seen much Starting with chapter 6 the levels are at least 3X bigger than before and they probably will get even longer since I just started 7. And you get new BIG enemies and stuff.

Night Stormer 06-29-2002 06:20 PM

WAAAA :baby: I didn't get it yet :( i never got to the store this week :( *sigh*

Nine Inch Nail 06-30-2002 04:02 AM

........Err........

I guess you're welcome to your opinion :snickers:

Anyway, I actually can't get the game for the time being, but I've played it at some friends houses. I've gotten to like.. Chapter 9 in like... 9 hours. So.... I'm kinda moving through the game like lightning. I guess that's what happens when you've prepared yourself for a game for so long.

But I've watched my friends play for hours on end... I've seen about 5 chapters of red and blue, and then I got to mine in green. I think that just because of the sanity effects, green is the most worthwhile path to go on. It's just fun to go insane.

If you play the game right, you'll never die. You just have to be smart. There are many ways to defeat enemies (magick is a lot of fun), and each one is going to have incredibly different degrees of effectiveness in different situations. The battle system is awesome. In fact, it's one of the best I've ever used.

Anyway, that's just my little bit. I could go on for about 12 pages, but I won't.

Well... Er, these two games are totally different. First and foremost, Clive Barker's Undying is in first person. Even though the game is good, I doubt it will touch Eternal Darkness in terms of fright factor and immersion.

Just what I wanted to know. Cuase I own Undying and it's the closest comparison I can make.

Night Stormer 07-07-2002 04:56 AM

hehe, i've been playin this game for bout an hour or so and i came up to a couple of insanity effects :D one where i went into a room and i wuz really tiny and the other where it looked like my tv turned off for 2 seconds... also another where i wuz just standin there and it flashed.... i dunno wut happened there. its weird, when u go insane the camera tilts... Wut happened to the centurian after he took an artifact? didn't quite catch that... did he stop that weird lookin thing with the teeth or did he help it? it squeeled a bit :p but i had the volume low cuz its late and i dun want to wake the parents so i missed sum stuff...

DeathsHand 07-07-2002 01:52 PM

I renteded ze game..... 'tis a good game... better than I thought it would be at first, but not as quite good as I thought it would be leading up to it's released (^_^... and not as good as some peoplez wuz making it out to be...

I dunno what the hell gekko was talking about about it being so scary cuz I don't find it the slightest bit scary :p And when I was playing as Max he was going freaky jeaky crazy, lemme tell you (@_@

And so far the combat is (surprise) repetitive... like I thought it'd be... At least to me it is... I guess maybe I don't have any big offensive magick spells (if there are any)...

And I heard a bunch of peoples talking like "OOOooOoOo you can make your own spells and sh*t!" but really it's like there's no point in making them until you get the little paper that tells you what it is... because you don't even need it until then...

And I thought sanity would play a bigger role... I picked the green path, and I don't go insane very much (except for that time as max and some other time as some other guy)... I kill all the enemies I see and use recover spells... *shrugs* some might say "OH THAT'S BORING!" but umm isn't like the point of games to do good and get through them? I mean aside from having fun... And intentionally running from enemies just because it screws you up is stupid, IMO... Although I've had to run from enemies a few times... and erm... nothing really INSAAAAANE happened

And they were talking about how there are more subtle ones... well that's nice, but for every character, the subtle ones are the SAME DAMN THING EVERYTIME!...

Bah... I think the people making this game out to be soooo amazingly good were just desperate for another gamecube game...

Still though I give it like an 8 out of 10 :D

There were no spoilers in that were there? *checks post*... Don't see any (^_^

JamesDark 07-07-2002 02:54 PM

I gotta admit, this game is fun and all... But if the EB's in Canada had the "take back after 10 days for another game or your money back" that the US ones do, I'd take advantage of it.

To put it simply... it doesn't hold my interest. Maybe that's because I hate Karim's level, or because I've been continuously having to repeat parts of it... I don't know.

It's very similar to Danny's predicament. He bought a Cube and rented RL, and is playing Pokemon Gold instead. I bought Eternal Darkness, and know I'm playing Oracle of Seasons and Mario Golf on GBA instead.

Only time will tell.

quiet mike 07-07-2002 05:40 PM

DeathsHand! How far are you into it?

The combat is indeed repetitive, if you use the same weapon. But you can use magic on the weapons and that affects how you kill an enemie.

Also the magic you actually need right before you get the scrools in most cases. But first time you don't realize that, so you go backwords. That's why time is cut in half the second time people play. They make the spell on their own and use it at the right times so they don't need to backtrack. But the game is made in such way that the first time it doesen't even seem you backtrack since you just explore. But then you know where you have to go and all.

DeathsHand 07-07-2002 05:45 PM

Errrmmmmmmm I am at like.... Chapter 10 maybe? Edward.... yep.... I been playing like 8 and a half hours methinks...

"The combat is indeed repetitive, if you use the same weapon. But you can use magic on the weapons and that affects how you kill an enemie."

But I usually find one weapon that's better than the others and stick to it... and don't cast magic on weapons because err... usually I don't need to :p

Night Stormer 07-07-2002 06:57 PM

heh, i usually chop off all the guys heads in the room so their not chasin after me and i finish em all of and i find u can do that and loose minimal health. how do u guys kill em?
