Really!!! Torres hits the guy end of 1st, straight on with no raised elbow...and its charging.
All five penalties so far have been more dive than anything.

edit: i guess I cančt complain :)

:09 into that video is the background on my phone.
It was a picture of that chick flashing the camera from beside the box - but that hit (and the guy's face between his legs) is too fucking classic to not topple a pair of tits.

What an on-side stretch by Kesler! Great finish by our bruiser. Great first game.

Pretty close to the exact time left that the last winning goal was scored at. Within 15 seconds=epic

That was crazy. We were all camping and listening to the game/playing beer pong. Such a good combination. Such a solid game. Sweet Jesus I'm pumped.

It looks like Boston has Vancouver's number now. They probably could have won game 2 as well. Not looking good my friends, but it's only tied up, so who knows.

Wouldn't you rather win the cup in Vancouver? Or does it not matter?

I'd rather not go through the stress of game 7. It's not like I'd get to be at the game or anything. I just want to win.

We may have lost, but at least someone from Vancouver can score on the road

I went down for game 5. Glad I decided not to pull an allnighter highwayfly for game 7.
I honestly don't mind the loss. Boston needed a cup. I want the nucks vs montreal/rangers/leafs/pitts for next year's final haha. And I want them to storm through teams other than nashville and san jose. More like Detroit, calgary, chicago. It'll happen.

First canadian city to host the olympics and not win the cup the following season.

NHL Offseason...

The Flyers trade BOTH Richards and Carter. Then sign Bryzgalov for 9 yrs/ 51 million. I expected maybe Carter to be traded, but both is a surprise. Interesting...

That sort of completely blew me away today when I saw that. I was so "wtf'd" over it I actually immediately texted Dylan just because I felt the need to share that insane knowledge no matter how vague.

I actually couldn't believe they traded Richards. Teams hardly (at least in my current knowledge) rarely trade captains away, because they're usually the face of a team, and a switch of captains usually happens gracefully, and not by gutting your top line.

I can't wait until Bryzgalov undoubtedly flops massively due to the pressure of a fucking 9 year contract for 51 mil. I'm not saying he's a horrible goalie, but I mean, come on, the guy's only had 2 seasons with more than 30 wins. That doesn't strike me as a safe bet for a long-term contract, especially when they have up and coming prospects. That's got to be so disheartening for them. There goes their entire future with that team.

You probably don't see any news about the Flyers like we do. Every interview Richards gave last year was lacking in any interest toward going out there and giving everything he had. Plus, this year he really didn't have any heart. The Flyers should have never made him captain when he first joined the team. He was too young for the job, and he really doesn't possess the right traits to be the leader of a team. Also, the C should have gone to Pronger when they acquired him.

Don't get me wrong though, Richards is a very good player, but we have other players on the team that will excel above his current level in the next few years. The best all around player on the Flyers right now is Giroux, which I don't think I need to back up. He's always where he needs to be in the game, and his sense of where everybody is on the ice is amazing. Some of his assists were phenomenal this year, plus he can score many goals. We also have Briere who continues to be a great goal scorer, and the line he is on, Briere/Hartnell/Leino has the best chemistry on the team. There's also hope in the youngest player on the team out of the guys on the active roster from last year, James van Riemsdyk. He really came on in the playoffs and was the best offensive power on the team. Plus he has tremendous speed. The Flyers have plenty of depth below these guys even with the loss of Richards and Carter. Carter doesn't really do much but shoot the puck anyway, so even though we'll lose a good amount of goals, it'll open up the ice for more players to fill in.

Also, they really were in need of a goaltender. It's been the downfall of the team for years. I can't even count how many goalies we've gone through. The organization knew it was the major problem with this team, so they went out and got the best goalie on the market today. We probably cleared enough cap space to fit him in with only the Carter trade, so everybody here in Philadelphia is still unsure why the also traded Richards, besides the fact that he has been lacking in what I mentioned before. There is possible news that they Flyers are about to do something big in the draft tonight, so maybe this will fill in the void from losing Carter and Richards.

We also acquired three new players. Simmonds, Shen, and Voracek. I haven't looked into them much, but they're all young, and that seems to be a new direction for the team. Good goalie, new young prospects. We'll see what happens though.

Granted I don't get the Philly media feed - but I do remember when I did see interviews of him they were sub-par.

Agreed. The fact I was shocked with them trading their Captain away was mroe the fact that if there WAS a problem int he locker roon, or motivationally for him (which clearly both may have been real problems) why was he Captain in the first place, you know. The Captain is the face and voice of your team, if that face and voice don't want to get out on the ice, usually the coach changes the captain prior to trading - but I guess inside the locker room this would make a pretty big statement.

I really like JVR, Hartnell and Giroux. I think they'll be the building blocks of the team for sure.

Simmonds, Shen, and Voracek
Schenn is an amazing 2 way centre - at least during the jrs for Canada, he did pretty damn well. I was surprised LA traded him away, to be honest.

Voracek has the potential to be ridiculously good at scoring out of nowhere, the same way Grabner came out of left field this year. Again, surprised CBJ traded him, too. But I guess with the tandem of Nash and Carter (They got Carter, right?) that's pretty horrifying for any team in the West.

We will probably never know what was going on in the locker room, but I doubt Richards was really ever the voice that he needed to be.

I should have looked up the new prospects names before typing them here. I wasn't aware that his name was spelled Schenn, but I heard about his play in the jrs on the radio today.

And Carter was indeed traded to the Blue Jackets. The tandem of Nash and Carter will be very high octane.

Well, for the Flyers, I hope that Pronger can stay help and lead this team on with Giroux and Briere as the Assistant Captains. Though Timonen will probably retain he A. If that's the case then I hope Giroux gets the other A and eventually becomes the face of the team when Pronger decides to retire.

Now the Flyers overpay Jagr by about 1.5 million for this year. WTF? Ed Snider and Paul Holmgren better know something I don't. I just really don't get it. I thought we might go after Stamkos, but no, we get this...

The old man better still have it.
