I started playing Banjo-Tooie last night, on Xbox Arcade, rofl.

This is why I can't finish games.

Yup! It even supports the stop n swap feature they took out of the original two games.

Don't feel too bad, man. It took me something like two years to get a new one.

Re: Game Progress Thread 2011

Sad thing is, since nobody has an Xbox here, there's no point in buying one. All of my friends have PS3s. And with life catching up, I have much less time for games these days. Having 2 consoles is a luxury I can't afford.

Still, I really hate missing out on some great games..

Anyway, I finished Mirror's Edge, God of War 2 (yes, 2) and Portal 2 completely some time ago so I could start on my backlog.

Started GoW3 but hated it and left it.

Now playing Alice: Madness Returns.

Maybe I'll finish Infamous if I have time after that.

You love it that much?

The first game was great, the second was good, and the third could've been much better - had they not made a game that revolved only around violence. [minor spoiler] The minute I ripped off Helios' head, I turned the game off and decided not to touch it again. [/minor spoiler]

That part was in the E3 demo that I think everyone had access to, so I think you're good with the spoiler.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not in love with the game, but I did enjoy it well enough. The second one will always be my favorite, and the second is pretty guilty of some gratuitous violence, like when you get the key from that dude on the horses or steeds of time or whatever.

Never had so much fun mashing the circle button in my life.

But yeah, if gratuitous blood and violence turns you off, then I never really thought the God of War series was for you. I think that's why Earl's not too keen on it.

It's not that violence puts me off; my problem is that this game revolves around it. There were fewer puzzles, the story just made Kratos seem like an asshole and there was a ton of unnecessary violence imo.

The second game barely passed the fun barrier for me; the third was just outrageous.

I'm sinking way too much time every night into League of Legends...not progressing on any other games.

Re: Game Progress Thread 2011

I'm on the fifth of six (I hope) dungeons in 3D Dot Game Heroes and I'm getting through the Ice Cavern at the start of the third disc in Lost Odyssey.

I also got a free limited edition collector's copy of Perfect Dark Zero and I'm firing through that since I never played it cause I had no Xbox 360 at launch. It's not terrible but it sure isn't great either.

Re: Game Progress Thread 2011

I finished the fifth temple and I had to go running around trying to find the Flame Sage so I could get the spell from the Red Orb. I literally had to run around to all the temples and find the old sages so they could tell me that they saw him and he went somewhere else.

Ugh.

Finally got myself a decent gaming PC. I just started playing The Witcher (the first one). Haven't gotten very far, though. Took a while to download and its getting late.

Give us the specs!

Re: Game Progress Thread 2011

Windows 7 64-bit
4 GB RAM
AMD Phenom II X4
GeForce GTX 550 Ti

Nothing super fancy, but it seems to be working well so far. I've never built a PC before, so I'm pretty excited about it.

I bought Wii Play Motion. :p Mostly for the 3rd controller. But some mini games are actually pretty good.

Re: Game Progress Thread 2011

Ginkasa, which Phenom chip did you settle with? Also, who manufactured your gpu? Looking like a nice rig. I've got 4 gigs of some really good OC'ing RAM at 1666 mhz but I'm not sure about timing and everything to have it run efficiently if I get another 4 gigs. I bought my rig almost a year ago, parts sourced from newegg. It was my first build from scratch too. A fun experience.
Gonna wait until a good sale.

I beat Castlevania Portrait of Ruin over the weekend.

My power went out one night, so I played OoT 3D until my 3DS died, then switched to PoR. It's a game I've been playing off and on for a long time...so it was cool to finally kill Dracula and finish the game. :)

Took me 19 hours total.

Next up is Castlevania Order of Ecclesia. My girlfriend bought it for my birthday last year. I've been putting it off until I finished Portrait.

Re: Game Progress Thread 2011

I just finished Deus Ex! I chose the Helios assimilation ending. I've been reading the Bioshock Rapture book a little, as well as getting to Fontaine's area in Bioshock 2.

Re: Game Progress Thread 2011

Finished Fontaine Futuristics. I found and rescued all of the Little Sisters. I found myself using a lot more of the gene tonics than plasmids. The plasmids I really use the most are electric bolt and security command. I think Electric Bolt is more effective for stopping and managing enemies than incinerate. Personal opinion, but that's how I play.

Re: Game Progress Thread 2011

Fired up FFIV: Perfect Collection again to try and get The After Years finished.

I completed Yang's tale but apparently I also have to do Ceodore's again because I accidentally overwrote Ceodore's tale's clear data. Whatevs. Should be quick. I don't remember it taking more than a few hours.

I bought the first one for 4 bucks on Gamersgate.com as part of a sale they were having. I should be replacing my video card very soon so I should be able to handle the crazier games like Witcher 2, Crysis 2, and Metro 2033 in DX11 mode.

I finished Bioshock 2! Yay! I got both parts of the good ending (if you can put it that way).

Re: Game Progress Thread 2011

I started Sin & Punishment 2! :D

Finished 3 levels on Easy so far. It's more fun than expected... it's the Star Fox we haven't had since 64.

Edit: beat Bowser in SMG2. Still lots of stars to get though.

I'm still playing the campaign of Portal 2. I finished the rooms and I got past the plot twist... and now the game is SO boring. I hope that doesn't take long, because I can barely stand it.

Re: Game Progress Thread 2011

I finished the third disc of Lost Odyssey yesterday. Since I technically don't have class until tomorrow I guess I could try and get some more out of the way tonight.

magus113 08-23-2011 08:48 AM

Re: Game Progress Thread 2011

I did a dungeon and I actually took some time to go exploring in Lost Odyssey, whether it was to look for more dreams to read, or a treasure quest or two. It's nice, but sadly it won't help me get closer to finishing the game.

Now that class started who knows how much time I'll have to finish this during the semester.

Angrist 08-23-2011 03:11 PM

Re: Game Progress Thread 2011

Some of the levels of Sin & Punishment 2 are awesome. I've had 1 really frustrating boss so far, that will be a disaster on normal/hard.

magus113 08-23-2011 03:52 PM

Re: Game Progress Thread 2011

I might just want to try and get some more stuff done in Lost Odyssey tonight before the REAL work starts piling up. I had to set all my calendar reminders for my online course quizzes and the like and it looks like a barrel of monkeys from here until December. I think I should try to enjoy what fun I can have while I still can.

magus113 08-29-2011 10:41 PM

Re: Game Progress Thread 2011

I finished Lost Odyssey! The credits haven't finished rolling yet, but there should be a little more than 53 hours clocked in on there.

The ending was really long too. I think from the second the last boss battle ended to the credits it was 20+ minutes. I mean it's not MGS fare, but long enough when it's not expected.

EDIT: At the clear save it clocked me at 54 hours, 28 minutes.

Re: Game Progress Thread 2011

I think I'm fighting the last boss of Sin & Punishment 2. It's on easy, so no big deal. After this I'll try a normal run and I'll choose the other character. I'm also looking forward to being able to switch character.

I tried picking up Zelda Phantom Hourglass, but I coudln't remember what I was doing. I played for 15 minutes and all I did was redo parts of the AWEFUL Temple of Tedious Repetition.
I'll have to look up a walkthrough... again. :(

I don't want to start that before I finished PH. I'm very close too, I got all the 3 metals. And the hammer.

My co-workers and I went back to 1995 after work. We were playing The Dig for a few hours at a time and we finally finished today. Sci-Fi adventure gaming at its best. Difficult, but its best.

I finally finished Perfect Dark Zero. Now I can finally say I beat the game and never play it again.
