The next movie in this marathon got delayed slightly because for some strange reason only DVD in my set that doesn't work :(

but a broken disc isn't enough to stop me from watching... hell The World is Not Enough

Yeah the next movie in our Bond-tastic marathon is The World is Not Enough

The World is Not Enough is Pierce's 3rd outing as James Bond,

It also has the distinction of being the first Bond movie in which the evil mastermind behind everything is a Bond girl, Elektra King

The other Bond girl is Christmas Jones, who most people remember from the stunning one-liner about her....

The other villain is Renard, a man who feels no pain because of the location of a bullet.

The Trailer

ntro/Theme Song

And ladies and gentlemen.. that's The World is Not Enough

I actually watched this movie last night but was too pissed to post the actual thread update for it.

So ladies and gentleman the final Brosnan films and one of the greatest movies to grace our eyes, Die Another Day

As stated above this is Pierce's 4th and final run in movies as Bond,

The Bond girl is Ms. Halle Berry as Jinx, which is a rather fitting name for where it left the franchise.

The villain is Gustav Graves or something like that, he had surgery

The Trailer

Intro/Theme Song
Interesting idea to advance the story during the opening sequence.

So while watching this movie, I realized there is so much wrong with it, but it dawned on me that it was the culmination of the Brosnan era.

I doubt it is a fault of his own, but after Goldeneye every film seemed to attempt to make Bond vulnerable in some manner or another.

First he had Wai Lin who was pretty much his female equal. And I think TND worked because it didn't make Bond weak, it made the female strong.

TWINE actually injured Bond for the entire film which was key in a scene or two. And I just don't think it worked for a man who has survived lot worse.

Than DaD showed him as his most vulnerable being captured and tortured and then finding out what its like to be useless.

However, this movie has a lot worse going for it than Bond's potrayal.

Personally, I still put it above Diamonds. :lol

And I guess it is time for this little exercise to end.

It was a fun ride with some ups and downs, but we come to the most recent one. And it's really hard to work in a cheap pun with it so double down, it's Casino Royale.

This is the first film to star Daniel Craig as secret agent 007, and also the first to really tell his origins.

The Bond girl is Vesper Lynd, because once you taste it, it's the only thing you will ever want.

The main baddie is Le Chiffre, who bleeds... from his eyes!

The Trailer

The Theme Song/Intro
One of my favorite theme songs.

Well, sure we've had the discussion before, the movie isn't that old, but first time I will watch on Blu ray so that's nice.:D

I love TWINE. It's underrated and right up there with Goldeneye. Torture scenes are a big part of the Bond novels, I guess it's symbolic for "holding the male character down" or something. Maybe it's the fact that I had a teenage crush on Denise Richards, or the sneaky appearance of Sophie Marceau's nipple throughout the film (she's such a milf!), but I think TWINE really works as a Bond film.

Too bad we ran out of Bond films.

That isn't necessarily true, we could do the original Casino Royale and Never Say never Again just to be completist.

Are those unofficial Bond movies? I know that Sean Connery came back for 1, was it Never Say Never Again?

I think it's only appropriate to build anticipation for the new film.

The various James Bond theme songs/variations (Based on Wiki entry)
Dr. No
From Russia With Love
Goldfinger
Thunderball
You Only Live Twice WiP
On Her Majesty's Secret Service
Diamonds are Forever

And that covers the Connery/Lazenby era. This post is a work in progress.

Live and Let Die
The Man With the Golden Gun
The Spy Who Loved Me
Moonraker
For Your Eyes Only
Octopussy WiP
A View to a Kill

Wraps up the Moore era

The Living Daylights (Starts around the 1:20 mark)
License to Kill
There goes Dalton

Goldeneye
Goldeneye Alt
Goldeneye N64 Theme
Tomorrow Never Dies
Tomorrow Never Dies Game Theme
The World is Not Enough
The World is Not Enough Game Theme
Die Another Day

Wow Brosnan got stuck with some odd ball Bond themes.

Casino Royale
Quantum of Solace

Something I whipped up.

Well, it's being praised. Big UK opening.

Who's going to see this in theatres? Craig has signed on for the 24th and 25th films.

Bond seems to have taken a turn for Jason Bourne style movie action now. Close shots with lots of close cuts. Spies just down kill people, they are suposed to be sneaky too.

Probably 7 smiles out of 5

I was so impressed with this film.

Which is fairly impressive based on my high expectations for it!

Re: Bond, James Bond: Thread of 007 Action

It is a pretty good Bond movie. I wouldn't declare it "best Bond ever" just because I think you need to sit on a movie (or game or book or whatever) before you can really objectively compare to other things.

I will say I definitely enjoyed it more than Quantum of Solace, and I didn't hate Quantum of Solace. Its definitely got more legit Bond moments than the previous two have while still being distinctive. It also does really well at setting up something closer to the "status quo" of the pre-Craig Bonds. It even makes sense, if you want to think about it, how Craig's Bond could now go to something closer to what Connery and Co. portrayed over the years.

I could go into it a little more, but I don't want to spoil anything for anyone who hasn't seen it yet.
