Wow, I see a lot of creativity flowing from everyone's minds. Keep up the great work! And remember, final submissions for your style are due by Friday. Then we'll vote on which one we're going to keep. Good luck!

Best way to mimic is to examine the source. Note the inclusion of "edit" as well. If it is to be GAF-Lite, then may it be the best GAF-Lite possible.

Text to denote online/offline status becomes unnecessary if the small graphic can be used (lit for on, muted for off)

Wow, looks like we just had an explosion of ideas.

Where to begin...

I'll tell ya where to begin and end... 1 disgusting meshup of all the styles. That would be (horribly) AWESOME!

GAF, the man is gifted at Photoshop, but Jim has an issue with his web-designs.

He's good, I like him.. he helped me a lot with a Gears 2 thread i made on GAF but Jim does have his issues with him.

Jim has issues.

Re: New Style Survery

Whoa! All of a sudden the olive is turning to blue, this seems like my suggestion a bit, and I love it!

Dyne 05-29-2008 02:12 AM

Re: New Style Survery

Ahck! My eyes!

That's TOO blue.

Aladuf 05-29-2008 02:14 AM

Re: New Style Survery

ooh! That blue is a bit better, a tad easier on the eyes as Dyne suggested.

edit: ok, the blue is alternating too much, I shall say no more until it's set.. I can't keep posting every time.

Dyne 05-29-2008 02:16 AM

Re: New Style Survery

This one is great right now.

Aladuf 05-29-2008 02:18 AM

Re: New Style Survery

BaB's suggested a nice blue earlier, it was like, steel blue or something... kind of a greyish/dark blue color. It was nice.

Renwood 05-29-2008 02:19 AM

Re: New Style Survery

This one is good; the text ought to be made white though.

Aladuf 05-29-2008 02:21 AM

Bah! I said I wouldn't comment on the constantly changing blues but this one is awesome! Jim knows whats up. Don't ya Jim?

It is beta...

but how is this blue now?

Aladuf 05-29-2008 02:25 AM

Re: New Style Survery

This is the sexiest color scheme possible Bond. Keep this and take up a few suggestions to switch/remove/add some things and it's all good IMO.

Bond 05-29-2008 02:26 AM

Re: New Style Survery

Only issue is... this is basically just neogaf.

Dyne 05-29-2008 02:27 AM

Re: New Style Survery

Yeah. :(

I liked the whole experimentation with blue and green. Stick with a darker green I think.

Aladuf 05-29-2008 02:28 AM

Re: New Style Survery

Yeah and I thought that... I guess it's just a good look. I tried to think of things before that didn't resemble GAF but it always just ended up being GAFish... *shrugs*

Renwood 05-29-2008 02:28 AM

Re: New Style Survery

With modified graphics to fit the color/style better, it will be good.

NeoGAF is just modified standard vB; standard vB is standard for a fairly good reason. Its very practical and readable. I don't think it's a problem. Add different color palettes if you want to differentiate from the universal blue, but this as a basics option is keen.

Noticed two things so far:
-Quick reply box header needs to go from grey to new blue as well.
-Usernames next to posts are a little huge

Aladuf 05-29-2008 02:29 AM

Re: New Style Survery

Get on that shit Jim, work with Bond to make this place fully bangin! I know you got some skills, use them.

Bond 05-29-2008 02:30 AM

Re: New Style Survery

I suppose we could make both a green and blue style...

Renwood 05-29-2008 02:34 AM

Re: New Style Survery

Green, Blue, and perhaps black modifications of this standard, along with Fusion, seems like a nice way to offer some different looks without actually having to manage three to four completely different themes.

Renwood 05-29-2008 02:40 AM

Re: New Style Survery

I don't want to make a topic for this.

I have noticed that the "Who's Online" page defaults to sorting alphabetically by username. I can't remember, but I believe vB allows you to designate which criteria to set as the default for sorting.

Most forums go by "Last Activity" since that gives you a quick picture on who is really actively browsing (since the list is keeping track of people that might not have actually clicked anything in 15 to 20 minutes). It can make it a little hard to gauge who is actually, truly on at the moment.

I usually just click "Last Activity" to sort it anyway. Is there a use that someone else has for the alphabetical method that I just don't think of?

I still like the Fusion. I looked at the Beta one, but damnit, this is a Tavern! I'm used to the site being darker :lolz:

Get over the old musky look of a Tavern.

And embrace the Grand Opening. There will be more parties. More females. More clowns if you know what I mean.

I'll fix those things today.

I messed with the colors some and came up with this. I think it would adapt well to green and red variants.

If you like the idea, I can work on matching reply / quote / new posts etc., etc. buttons that match the style.

Used the following colors:

4b73aa - Subheading Light Blue
Nevermind the gray; it looks bland when I made another mock-up
bbbbbb -Welcome/PMs box darker gray
f1f1f1 - post background color (quick-reply, standard reply background)

edit - added quick reply box background color since it doesn't match the theme at all as of now. Actually, same with the standard post reply background. Its an odd off-blue color.
