I wear glasses. My brother does, My mom does, and my dad had laser-eye surgery.

If I had a vision problem, I'd get glasses. Why you ask?

1. Because I don't like the idea of putting something directly on my eyeballs
2. I'm not self concious. It doesn't bother me knowing others know I had a vision problem.


People with contacts act like nobody knows they have a vision problem. Well, just for the record, I can clearly see (no pun intended) someone who's wearing glasses from someone who isn't. Some people open their eyes farther and you also clearly define the edge of the contacts around the users retina or whatever it is. Not that I'm saying everyone that wears contacts is self concious. Most of you wear 'em just for the convience factor, am I right?

My brother wears contacts so that he can play sports without smashing his glasses up. I don't wear contacts, and yes, I do train in the martial arts. For those classes, I just take my glasses off. My eyes are still plenty good enough that I can see a punch coming. Catching a baseball in the outfield would give me trouble, though.

I had glasses when I was 7 and had them till I was 10. Then I got contacts they were kind of uncomfortable for a month and the cleaner for them burned my eyes. But after I got used to the tingling feeling, It was good. Then for my 13th B-Day I got lazer eye surgery, and now today I have perfect vision.

Wha-? There's laser eye surgery for 13 year olds? When was this? All the surgeons I've heard of require the patient to be 18 years old or older. At 13, your eyes are still developing and changing, so fixing them now would only mean that they'd get warped again or perhaps be even worse off in the long run.

Oh well, if you see perfectly, more power to you, GameKinG. I just hope you don't regress by the time you're 20.

Well, maybe california allows it...Or maybe when I sat in the chair they didnt do anything and put in some contact that stays there forever....In that case it was a rip off.

What is your perscription on your contacts, people? My left eye is -3.5 and my right eye is -3.25.

They recommend 18-21, depending on who you talk to. It's because your eyes stop adjusting during that time, and if you get it before, your vision can still change. Of course, what they really don't tell you, is that the surgery can be (and often times is) done multiple times. So really, if you got the cash, just do it when your young, and do it once your eyes stop changing again.

That's kinda the theory I'm going on. Doctor says be 20 before you get it. Of course, joniing the military gives me 2 problems. 1) My uncorrected vision is too poor to qualify (I could get a waiver cause it's 20/15 corrected). 2) I have a lazy eye, which happens to be on my right. Even corrected, it's like 20/60. Granted, I can't really read my computer screen when looking through it. Now that doesn't matter with both eyes open, but when trying to aim your rifle at a target 500 yards away, and you can only see one small spot, you got a problem.

So I'm getting it done at 17. Doctors will do it, they just advise you not to. I don't really care though, if my vision changes, I'll get it again in a few years.

I don't wear glasses or contacts, the only people in my family who do are my aunt and uncle on my dad's side.

Holy crap-ola. I just got the No-Rub solution, and it worked like a charm. I just put my contacts into the case with the No-Rub solution in last night, and I just put them in my eyes right now. I didn't even feel a thing! This new solution is amazing!

And yeah, my contacts were pretty dirty, and now there isn't any vidible dirt or little lines on my contacts.

That is exactly the same as me, I was told to I had to wear glasses by the optician forked out £90, and hardly ever wore them, my left eye has perfect sight, and my right eye has absolutely crap sight... still combined I can see OK, I never like wearing them, and to be honest I haven't kept them on for over an hour, my eye sight has gradually got worse without them, but I haven't seen the optician for about 6 years.

I've had glasses for 7 years.. and I'm not even sure I can wear contacts.. I have a stigmatism, and they usually don't recommend contacts for people with them, but since I'm young, they decided to try it.

I realised today they just werent for me. Once they got them in my eyes, they felt OK, but I just couldnt manage to get them in myself. sure, i may have got used to them over time. I just decided it wasnt worth the hassle.

I'm glad I voted glasses in the poll, because I decided to not go with contacts.. they just aren't for me.
