What's taking them so long!??!

Why do you care so much?

I'm not sure, nor do I care.

If you are so concerned about the matter then why don't you just e-mail Microsoft and ask them?

Angrist 03-30-2002 08:40 AM

That might be a good idea. In the meanwhile, I made this new poll on a Dutch site. http://www.thefellowship.nl/forum/sh...?threadid=1903
Now I'm sure the GCN will win from the XB in Holland. Luckily, I live there.

Polls are inconclusive and mean nothing.

Just thought I'd throw that in...

For the fourth time, could you please just leave this subject at rest until something official is announced and stop whining.

Some new light. I'm afraid the link is to Cube-Europe again, but it should be on Bloomberg or something too...
http://www.cube-europe.com/fullnews....17823939,8029,

BigJustinW 04-03-2002 12:09 PM

Um... why do I get the feeling Cube-Europe is out to bash Xbox?

Do ANY other major websites (maybe a microsoft one) claim that X-Box has flopped?

Shadow_Link 04-03-2002 12:35 PM

Well, apparently, these reports seem to be popping up around here in the U.K, claiming the Xbox to be selling poorly, yet only the software is managing to sell quite well. As some in England would know, one of the pages on teletext, a very respected 'TV' magazine as it were, also seem to report this news. Most the reports also claim the launch here in the U.K (best performance in Europe thus far) for the Xbox was infact quite good, though only a few days after the launch has the Xbox been begining to show signs of slowing sales, and poor performance in selling terms.

I guess it will be a long road ahead of Microsoft, what with all these big titles already available, Iand the launch of the Gc on the horizon. It is just wait and see at the moment.

Bond 04-03-2002 02:16 PM

I think it's rather lame that Cube-Europe must report Xbox related news articles that are biased. Do you see any major Xbox website reporting GameCube news? No.

Press Release:

Quote:

Santa Monica, CA – April 1, 2002 -- Activision, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATVI) announced today that WRECKLESS: The Yakuza MissionsTM and Tony Hawk’s Pro SkaterTM 3 were the #1 and #2 best-selling third-party titles by units for the XboxTM video game system from Microsoft in Germany for the week of March 18 – 24, 2002, according to Media Control. These results followed the successful European launch of Xbox on March 14, 2002.

Additionally, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 was the #4 third-party title for the PlayStation® video game console and the #5 third-party title for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system, according to Media Control.

“The success of WRECKLESS: The Yakuza Missions and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 reinforce Activision’s position as a brand leader on Xbox,” said Ron Doornink, President and COO, Activision Inc. “Activision is poised to continue its leadership position on both the Xbox and PlayStation 2 with upcoming launches of Spider-Man® the movie game, Mat Hoffman’s Pro BMXTM 2 and Kelly Slater’s Pro SurferTM.”

Angrist 04-04-2002 11:56 AM

Well, that just an article from Activision, it's also biased. It would look kinda stupid if they told that the XB launch wasn't succesful.

Why isn't M$ releasing official numbers????

It's not biased. It's factual information. Showing how well two Xbox games sold. Not opinions on how well the Xbox did in Europe.

I don't get how a 3rd Party developer can be biased....

Angrist 04-04-2002 12:08 PM

They say it's succesful. What are their standards?? I bet they'd say the Japanese launch was succesful... or the Virtual Boy's launch (if they would have made launch games for it).

This doesn't say a thing.

BigJustinW 04-04-2002 12:18 PM

Well I trust them more than a GAMECUBE site.

When Xbox sites start posting that it's a flop, I will listen.

BigJustinW 04-04-2002 12:23 PM

Oh, and on a side note... Xbox has launched in the slowest season of the year... so if it does have lower launch sales than Ps2 or GCN it doesn't really matter.

Quarter 1: 10% of video game sales for the year
Quarter 2: 20% of video game sales for the year
Quarter 3: 30% of video game sales for the year
Quarter 4: 40% of video game sales for the year

This is a rough estimate... but, like I have said in older topics:

January 1st 2003... the judgement day.

Angrist 04-04-2002 01:03 PM

Okay... we're hearing differents sounds... some say that it was succesful, others that it wasn't. I think it's safe to say that it was an average launch. Not the biggest, but definately not a flop. Happy?

Is Angrist trying to bargain now?

The majority of your information comes from Cube-Europe, Angrist. A biased source overall on Xbox news. Disregard it.

ed328 04-05-2002 11:31 AM

Cube-Europe are not the ones who said XBOX is a flop, all they did was reprint an article stating that the industry in general feels that way. It can be found here. Also, here's another article where thay assert that the president and COO of Microsoft might have been pushed out because of the XBOX's performance.

Angrist 04-06-2002 05:15 AM

Thanks man, finally someone backing me up. :)

Yesterday I went to a store to reserve my GCN (actually I already reserved it somewhere else, but where I'm gonna buy it now you get a free controller with it). I asked the man if they had sold many X-Boxes, but they hadn't. Doesn't say much about Europe though...

Angrist, are you STILL trying to claim that a gaming store near where you live should be considered the yard stick by which all sales are measured?

Thats like saying that if a Burger King near me doesn't sell many Whoppers, that no whoppers are being sold ANYWHERE. Pretty rediculous, huh?

How bout we go back to the idea that ACTUALLY MAKES SENSE and wait for OFFICIAL NUMBERS...

Good lord. Some people...

Your comment was completely pointless. You made the topic 'X-box sales in Europe' we're talking about Europe as a whole, not your local shop.

The comment contributes nothing to the debate.

Joeiss 04-06-2002 05:05 PM

But at least he said :

". I asked the man if they had sold many X-Boxes, but they hadn't. Doesn't say much about Europe though..."

Professor S 04-06-2002 11:16 PM

Joeiss, I don't care what little tag line he added to the bottom of his post to try and cover his ass, if you couldn't get the jist of what he was implying you are either blind or retarded. He is once again making broad, rash statements based on his local "EB" or whatever. He has done this several times and it is quite annoying. If he wishes to post here he should at least think of something reasonably intelligent to add to the discussion.

Oh, and Angrist, please don't call me a "newbie" (OH NO!) again. It hurt my feelings so much I had to go in the corner and cry.

You see that last part?

???

You could have left that out...and maybe, just MAYBE, your post might have meant something.

That "unsure" smile could mean "I'm not sure if that says much about Europe" or "Maybe what I just said was pointless"....but it could also mean that you SEEM disappointed with how the XBox is selling...which is a load of BS, you and I and everyone else all know that.

But enough...I'm done with disecting one stupid unnecessary smilie.

Angrist 04-07-2002 01:10 PM

Gee, I never thought I would actually make someone mad on this forum...

All I wanna say is that many people (not all) think that the X-Box launch was a bit dissapointing. (And to be honest, I don't feel sorry for M$.)

Perfect Stu 04-07-2002 03:36 PM

you really need to listen to people, angrist

I made that post on the second or third page of this topic...and a couple people agreed with me....yet you still had to tell your little story about how the Xbox isn't selling that well in your store...

I mean, give everyone a damn break...I HOPE you know that it's completely pointless...

That it is Perfect Stu.

But Angrist just must feel the need to go on and on and on and on with his pointless posts.

It seems as though a pointless reply is posted. Then everyone explains why it has no bearing to Europe as a whole and that it has no effect on the discussion. Then the topic is left idle for a few days and Angrist comes back with another pointless reply.

Angrist 04-07-2002 05:27 PM

Yeah, ain't it cool? I just want to have a long thread. :D

No really... I guess I just don't like X-Box... :(

Well, Angrist, you've managed to make yourself look like an idiot and a fanboy.

Not only will your 'long thread' not be counted for anything but it will also be closed.
