I don't know if I like the way that the babe looks on that sig. I mean, shes hot, but she definetely doesn't look like she belongs on that background.

I don't know if that's fixable or not, cause I don't have wicked skillz with the photo editting.

the reason it doesnt look right is becuase the way one views the image is the background is computer generated, and the picture is real. its like you being stuck in a computer generated world. things around you dont fit in with yourself.

its a nice background tho. hehe

Re: Vampyr's Gallery

actually... the babe was rendered in Character Studio :)

It reminds me of the scene in I, Robot where Will Smith is walking through the wad of disabled robots looking for the radical one and you can so tell that it is all computer generated. It hardly looks real, IMO.

But, I like the background, and I like the babe. Together, they just look odd.

New sig!

The Predator:

I just want to say that I have completely fallen in love with .png, and that I adore Firefox for supporting it. I've been designing a website recently, and I realized that .png files are smaller than .gif files.

IE is stupid for not supporting it. It's the file of the future, better than .jpg or .gif.

And don't steal that sig...my name is on it, if you look at the predators head, on the ridge.

And I know that the name of the movie is "predator", not "the predator", I just like putting the "the" in there.

yes screw ie users for now. if they want to see the pics correctly they can either download firefox or opera, or wait till IE 7 comes out.

Re: Vampyr's Gallery

I really like this signiture. The image on the left was created by me. I took a photo of myself, and then used photo shop to manipulate it to make it look sort of like a vector image. Then I took that picture and brushed over it, then used some color balance to get the color of the leaves. Then I found a font that I thought suited the look of the theme, and I personally love the text. It says "I was born in a house of leaves"

It isn't taken from anything...it's just something I wanted to build the sig on. I like making poetic sigs.

Zach, are you saluting or aiming an imaginative gun at your head?

I have my fingers aimed at my head like a gun.

Re: Vampyr's Gallery

Well, it looks great. The way you have the leaves arranged almost makes them look like flames also. And you did a great job 'vectorizing' yourself. I'd love to see a side by side comparison of the photograph and stand alone 'vectored Zach'. I think I have that font on my computer too. I forget its name at the moment but I used it for a GameTavern project here once.

I'm not sure what you're going for but my suggestion would be to adjust the area where you fall 'behind' the leaves. Maybe it's intended for you to be standing behind the leaves like they're a curtain or something but it looks kind of abrupt. I would ease your 'vector self' into the leaves a little more so it looks like you're slowly blending/fading into them.

O_O

Someone at GT is giving an in depth critique of my work?! Awesome! This rarely happens.

Thanks for the advice and critique, GM.

The font is Papyrus, it's one that null uses a lot. And I might post those pictures you are talking about, because personally I think the "vectored" version of me looks really cool.

A few other people have told me that the transition from me to leaves is abrupt, although I don't see it, but I'm going to try and fix it anyway.

And here is the poetic explanation:

There is a photo of me with a "gun" to my head, and leaves falling around me. The quote says "I was born in a house of leaves", and a leaf house would be very unstable. It would not take much to knock the "house" over. And in the sig, the leaves are falling around me, meaning that the house has collapses. The leaves are a symbol of my life, and the entire sig represents how unstable things are, including me.

I like the colorful bubble one :) i'd have to say thats your best. stylish. i also like that it gives the appearence that its not as tall. prolly the bubbles or the slight extra length that gives that appearence, but i dont like the tall looking ones.

I updated my gallery with recent photomanips, sigs, and my newest sig.

I should probably begin working with photoshop again.

i work with it everyday... nice one Vampyr. I probably should've shown my signature before but have been using it for awhile without any announcement. I was tired of having stock images in my signature (i.e. FF7 AC) so I decided to go balls to the wall on this one.

Lemme guess Null.... IE user?

IE!? please boy, thats one of the first things i get rid of off my computer. at the very least, get rid of all the links and references to it.

something like that has nothing to do with the browser. its a jpg, so its filled in with what he 'thinks' the background color is. Which doesnt work on a board with multiple 'skins'.

even then, on many of them i can still see a difference because some computers are darker so people think they have a match when they dont.
altho i tested it on the forum skin that he uses and he did that just fine.

but still, personally i'd use a png and say screw the ie users for now. IE is going to update soon enough with full png support anyway. even if i was assured that everyone uses the same forum skin, it would still bug me to know that the grey box exists even if you couldnt see it during the forums.

that has nothing to do with the artwork in it, as i said, its a good job, im more against the format it was saved in.

PS, if you ever expect me to let you kill me in CS or any other game, i expect a full written apology for calling me a ie user. ;) :D

MuGen 01-05-2006 04:02 PM

Re: Vampyr's Gallery

nah I was assuming as much... didn't know it was JPEG.... the color he chose as the background had me fooled for a bit cuz I use the same skin.

sowwy i called you an IE user... but I dunno how full and written this apology is considering it taking about a couple of words...

Null 01-05-2006 04:13 PM

well... i supposed as long as its typed out and spelled right... its full and written.

so i guess we're..... WAIT A MINUTE!!! thats not spelled right at all!! curse you!

Re: Vampyr's Gallery

I'm a glutton for praise, so I don't want all the ignorant IE users out there going,

"A white box around the sig? Whuzzup with that?!"

Still glad you guys like it, though. ^_^

edit: It's a png now.

when he meant grey box, he meant the border I think.

What he was refering to was the grey box I had placed around the banner section of the sig to create the illusion that the wings on the heart and the text were hanging over the sides. You wouldn't notice it unless you right clicked and viewed the actual image, or you were using a GameTavern skin other than the default.

Now I've changed it to a .png file, which means it's transparent and it will look the same on any surface. The only downside is that for IE users, there will now be a white box around it.

Nope, I just popped open PS for a few seconds and changed the format and resaved it.

This is like my favorite sig I've ever made...I can't stop looking at it. D:
