i actually think that Rareware's best days were on the SNES, I think that the original donkey Kong is more fun than Banjo Kazooie, I've played through it at least 50 times, and I'd play another 50 times, the 2 player Co-op simply kicked ass at the time. True the Donkey Kong series did go downhill after that, but even the sequels were pretty fun, once again, especially with 2 players. And while we're on the topic of Donkey Kong, am i the only person who actually liked the N64 version? I found it pretty damn fun.

Donkey Kong 64 was a good game indeed, but making you do the same things over and over and over and over and over became NOT FUN. I did beat the game, but refused to conquer it because it was so goddamn tedious.

I liked the N64 version of Donkey Kong. It wasn't the best one but it was fun.
The rap at the beginning of the game was so great. Probably my favorite part.

I loved it too. One of my favourite games on the GCN. I remember most, if not all of it. It was a very memorable experience.

Does anyone have anything else to say about Capcom?

Well you guys do know that Capcom came close to bankruptcy last fiscal year because of their exclusivity to the GCN? They gotta do what they gotta do in order to stay alive and keep making games.

I see, it's implying that the guy is throwing the frisbee at yooou the reader (specifically GameMaster) instead of the guy off-camera...

But typically when someone pulls the think-fast on you, you're right up close to them, so it'd make more sense if that second guy in the picture was instead directly in front of the thrower, and was his intended receiver...

Oh well though, better luck next time..

Look at the feet.

The reciever is right next to the thrower.

Or so it seems.

Thank you, thank you for taking the time to make this post. JUST KNOWING THAT MAKES ME THAT MORE CONFIDENT IN MY THINK-FAST THROWING WAYS.

Now, let's talk about something else.. How about Capcom? They're pretty hot right now.

That does appear to be the case, however he is not the intended receiver, but instead it seems he's trying to perhaps block the throw... They're probably playing a game of Ultimate Frisbee... Or whatever other name you children might have for the sort of frisbee/football/soccer hybrid game...

And I would discuss the issue at hand what with Capcom and all, Dyne, but why? Videogames? No... Now Frisbee... There's something you can hold an intelligent discussion about...

um....I think your very wrong on that.

The ONLY exclusivity I see from Capcom was the RE1 Remake and RE0. Originally Viewtiful Joe was but its changed now. Capcom's ratio of PS2 vs other consoles is about 20:1 still so I doubt this so called "exclusivity" to the 'Cube has anything to do with them almost going bankrupt.

Well I wouldn't say it if it wasn't true...

This is from the GAF boards, a representative of Capcom came in and made a few posts about the RE4 thing, and this is what he had to say (it has been confirmed that this person works for Capcom).

Quote:

Well, I realize that as an employee of Capcom, I am throwing myself to the wolves by even coming here at this time...

But just allow me to mention 2 facts about the gaming industry that you may all not know. After I have you can tear me a new one all you want.

1. The word exclusive is usually never defined as more than 6 months. Sony sees it this way. Microsoft sees it this way. And so does Nintendo. Having a PS2 verison out 1 year later is more than enough time to give all those Game cube owners a chance to play it long before any other hardware owner. I am a hardcore gamer and I personally can't wait 2 weeks for a gamer to go to a lower price structure (I have to have it on the day it is released) so I couldn't wait a month much less a year.

2. Games are costing more and more to make. Now, please think back to Mikami's personal feelings (and interviews) of the past. Do you really think he is just in it for the money? The answer is no. Look at Capcom's financials for the last 2 years. Not a pretty picture. At one point as a business, you have to choose whether to be proud and go out of business or to be realistic and perhaps alienate a few hard-core fans.

As always, I know a lot of people are disappointed by this decision and I can truly understand that. But please understand that Capcom has supported the cube over the favorite and taken financial hits over and over for it so I hope some of the hardcore gamers out there can respect the company for sticking to their guns as long as possible.

In closing, I can say that the game is absolutely amazing and probably the best in the series and... any game created on a specific platform will be optimized for that it... (just common sense really).

Ok. I'm done... so FIRE away.
And you can read the rest here if you want.

Re: DAMN YOU CAPCOM!

Ok, Capcom almost went out of business last fiscal year, whether you want to believe it or not, and it is in large part due to the fact that they tried to remain exclusive to GameCube. He even compared their status to 3DO's when they went bankrupt. I'm just stating facts here people.

Re: DAMN YOU CAPCOM!

I don't see how having just 2 or 3 games "exclusive" to the GCN ****ing over Capcom. They have a **** load more exclusives for the Xbox and PS2. Look at Steel Batallion for christ's sake. That was an utter waste of a game. $150 just for the big "thing" and $50 for the game for a grand total of $200. Then they turn around and make a "sequel" to it but don't include the option to buy the joysticks "thing" seperate thus alienating any other possible big sells on the game.

So...I really doubt that because Capcom has a whole 2 or 3 games partially exclusive to the 'Cube spells doom for Capcom when they have ALOT more exclusives on other consoles.

The thing about having exclusives on other consoles is that they sell more....... *cough*

Well, for the most part, probably...

And you can be dern sure if the RE remake and RE0 were exclusive to PS2 they woulda sold a lot more than they did on NGC...

Well perhaps they made money on that BECAUSE of the insane price... Perhaps they relied on the hard core fans who would buy the game anyway.

Perhaps they also lost money because they were developing Phoenix Down (was that its name?) that got cancelled because it wasn't gonna sell?

It's nice of you to believe that, however a representative of the company disagrees with you.

Re: DAMN YOU CAPCOM!

Hehe, this thread just won't die. Now look at the news: http://www.cube-europe.com/news.php?nid=7179
Quote:

"First off, the breaking of exclusivity in this case was not because of user demand, but a plan to boost the stock price, as some already understood, but it seems like there has been confrontation between the developers and the management who are following shareholders' instructions. Capcom nowadays is different to when Okamoto worked there, the development team's voice seems weaker than before. It also looks like a lot of skilled staff will leave the company after the GC version of 4 is finished. But the people behind this rebellion are the developers, and they ask that you don't blame Mikami or Kobayashi. The GC version of 4 is the last one that Mikami will be involved in, the PS2 version will be passed on to someone else. People who used to work at Capcom are also shocked by this news."
So some of the developers are leaving Capcom because of the PS2 port?

Would make sense for the guys who said that there was NO WAY that it would be released on another console. And the guy who would cut his head of it that happened. :p

Syobo Online reports that there are major management problems going on over at Capcom...To begin with, Atsushi Inaba, Shinji Mikami, and Hideki Kayima, who's credit involves titles such as Resident Evil, Devil May Cry, Viewtiful Joe, Steel Battalion, Okami, and Viewtiful Joe, have all formed Clover Studio, a new subsidiary of Capcom, which is said to be an outlet, for more development freedom. On top of that, Syobo Online is suggesting that after Resident Evil 4 on the GameCube is complete, the team that is developing the game will be leaving Capcom Production Studio 4. The recently announced PlayStation 2 version will be handed to another team, Mikami will begin work at Clover, and apparently, the development team will leave Capcom, do to conflicts with the upper management, such as their game, being ported to the PlayStation 2, against their own will. This will of course be a huge loss of talent, and blow to Capcom Production Studio 4 if true. We can only hope that the team does not leave the gaming industry, and continues to work on mind blowing videogames, if these rumors do come true. We also hope that the management problems at Capcom can soon be resolved.
Wow, that sucks.

Re: DAMN YOU CAPCOM!

gee, I know other exclusives sell more then they would on the NGC. It's given. But 2 or 3 games "exclusive" does not kill a company when they make at least 20-30 more games.

It's gonna be hard for Capcom to exist anymore if those people leave, and if you think they had financial troubles before....

Lots of people will lose jobs, that would be unfortunate.
