Legend of Zelda is a action/adventure game.

Also I thought Rune was a third person action game like Drakan: Order of The flame.

the Legend of Zelda.. is a tough one.. it is a RPG.. some call it otherwise. since it lacks some RPG elements.. but it's an RPG

As for Rune, it is a card based RPG made by From SoftWare

Miyamoto said in an interwiew (either to GS or the big one at DICE) that the new Zelda is a Cel-shaded RPG.

Yeah, but then they'd probably make 3 or 4 Final Final Fantasy games.

Speaking of the FF series I think Square should take a break and make a NEW rpg. It's becoming sick the way they just whore the FF brand name.

They do make new games other than FF. Chrono Cross, Vagrant Story, and Xenogears for instance.

Revival 03-08-2002 02:58 PM

I'd call Zelda a RPG..

Xantar 03-08-2002 03:56 PM

I just saw a flying pig...

GameCube needs RPGs, eh? Well, if PGC is right, then we may be getting some. And I still can't believe who's involved...

Remember Yamauchi's fund to support development? Square's getting some of that money to make Final Fantasy games for GameCube and GBA. No, this is not a joke.

Major props to Powder, who sent us this extremely important news tip! According to the Saturday morning (in Japan) edition of the popular Nihon Keizai Shimbun newspaper, Square and Nintendo are getting back together to bring Final Fantasy back to Nintendo fans on both GameCube and Game Boy Advance! Here's an excerpt from Nikkei's website. You can see the full story by registering there (credit card required, but you get a two-week free trial period during which you can cancel at any time).

OSAKA (Nikkei)--Nintendo Co. (7974) has agreed to resume procuring the popular "Final Fantasy" video game software for its game consoles from Square Co. (9620) after a five-year hiatus, The Nihon Keizai Shimbun learned Friday.

The big news in this is not only is Square coming back, but the details. Hiroshi Yamauchi himself is funding Square's return, by virtue of Fund Q, the fund set aside to help spark game development on GameCube. The new company to be stared by Square and Akitoshi Kawazu (one of Final Fantasy's developers), should be founded by the end of March.

Another important quote ...

The deal calls on the Square affiliate to produce software allowing users of two Nintendo consoles -- the GameCube and Game Boy Advance -- to play together by the end of the year.

"... to play together"? What does that mean???

Surely the first game to come out of this new venture will be Final Fantasy XI, as Square has been adamant about wanting the game on every console. But could we see a port of Final Fantasy X? And how does the GameBoy Advance fit in? There are a lot more questions to be answered yet.

Still, gamers prayers have been answered. Square is officially back on Nintendo.
Source: PGC.

Keep your fingers crossed. PGC says NCL has confirmed it, but I'm still waiting for some confirmation from other sites (such as, say, IGN and GameSpot). Still, wouldn't it just be poetic justice to have Squaresoft returning because of none other than Yamauchi?

Nobody pay attention to Xantar.. because he is slow to post news

...

;)

Evolution Worlds sucks really the only good RPG comming out for Gamecube is Skies of Arcadia. PSO2 is good but sega is gonna make you pay to connect and really the whole thing takes place online

Revival 03-09-2002 12:12 PM

Xantar, this has been confirmed by IGN, GameSpot, and Reuters. That should be enough :D

SamosR20 03-09-2002 03:21 PM

I don't care about how many rpgs or on the gcn, but i do care about how good the ones that come out are. there are a lot of very crappy rpgs out there, and hopefully gcn will be able to avoid the newer crappy ones. but i really like rpgs and so i can't wait for ff to be released. and i hope that chrono break is on gcn too, cuz i really liked chrono trigger.

Jin 03-09-2002 11:42 PM

I also hope that Namco, and Working Designs develop rpgs for the cube, because I really want to see sequels to Lunar, and Tales of Destiny.

GameMaster 03-10-2002 12:16 AM

I consider Pokémon a RPG so I'm opting for a GC version of it.

MasterMind 03-15-2002 01:03 AM

Is Skies of Arcadia really gonna be ported to the GCN? Because I was thinking about getting a Dreamcast just so I could play that game. That and a couple of others.

Revival 03-15-2002 10:37 AM

Getting a DC would be worth your while, it's not too expensive and there are a bunch of good games out for it.
